Reborn as the Shuangwen Female Supporting Character CHAPTER 1
Chapter 1
Lu Tian woke from her sleep to find her surroundings drastically different from how she remembered them before she closed her eyes. No, she hadn’t fallen asleep; she’d had a heart attack and died!
Rubbing her eyes, she began to assess her surroundings. She was in a bedroom decorated in a traditional Chinese style. A flood of memories, not her own, filled her mind. This person was also named Lu Tian, a character from a novel she’d read previously. Slowly sitting up, still groggy from sleep, she followed the ingrained memory and went to the bathroom. There, a luxurious mirror reflected a face five-tenths similar to her own, pale and ghostly under the light.
“Lu Tian?” she called out to the figure in the mirror.
The reflection mirrored her movements, her lips moving in sync. She was her; fear and uncertainty welled up in the woman’s bright eyes.
Lu Tian felt a touch of fear, but knew there was no time for that. She began to recall the plot of the novel. It was a “Shuangwen” (爽文), a type of light novel with an overpowered and satisfying protagonist. The original Lu Tian’s backstory was incredibly dramatic, her ending miserable and devoid of sympathy.
The drama started with her maternal grandmother and mother. Her grandmother had been a sent-down youth (知青) in the late 1960s, pregnant when she arrived. She gave birth in the home of a peasant family; coincidentally, the family’s daughter-in-law was also giving birth that day. The family’s daughter-in-law, knowing her grandmother was from the city and only temporarily participating in the program for social prestige, secretly switched the babies. Lu Tian’s mother thus grew up in the countryside.
Her adoptive mother was cruel and favored sons. Lu Tian’s mother received no education and was forced to marry at age twenty to provide a dowry for her brother’s wedding. She escaped to find work, becoming shrewd and quickly finding success. She fell in love with a wealthy man and planned to marry him, but his mother disapproved and paid her off to leave. Lu Tian’s mother moved to another city, pregnant with Lu Tian, and later married her current husband when Lu Tian was ten.
The twenty-year-old Lu Tian in this novel made her appearance as a malicious and scheming female supporting character.
Thinking this, Lu Tian looked at her reflection in the mirror, finding the woman’s beauty and figure entirely suitable for the role of a villainous female supporting character.
“This feeling is so strange…” Lu Tian murmured, the body of one person now containing the memories of two. The original Lu Tian’s memory didn’t extend to the later parts of the story; she hadn’t known what happened next, but now the two sets of memories were merged.
“Lu Tian, you’ve really become the Shuangwen female supporting character.”
Lu Tian’s original life had been affluent. Her mother had died young, and her father had recently passed away. She inherited a large fortune, was beautiful, and had many suitors, but none interested her due to her incurable heart condition. She’d anticipated her death and prepared a will, ensuring her assets wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. Luckily, she had a trusted friend and lawyer to handle the arrangements. Now, mysteriously gifted a healthy body, Lu Tian almost jumped for joy. Hesitating only briefly, she did precisely that, bouncing and enjoying the sensation of physical exertion and sweating, something she hadn’t been able to do since childhood.
“Although it’s a little unfair, but Lu Tian, I’ll live a good life,” she said. Selfish or not, since she’d inexplicably become the novel’s Lu Tian, she wouldn’t give up this chance to live.
Lost in the joy of her rebirth, her phone, sitting on the bedside table, vibrated repeatedly. Unlocking it with her fingerprint, she saw a series of messages from a contact named “Ning Xuan.”
“Tiantian, do you have anything to say about your schemes?” “Give me an explanation!” “I ignored it before, but I can’t be a pushover anymore!” “Lu Tian, I know you’re awake! Reply to me!”
Lu Tian changed the contact name to Yu Ningxuan and decided not to respond immediately, thankful there was no read receipt feature. However, Yu Ningxuan’s messages continued relentlessly. She silenced her phone, and lay back down, continuing to recall the plot.
Yu Ningxuan was the protagonist of the novel, a pretty, cute girl with a sweet voice. She was gentle, kind, and innocent, and most of the men in the novel fell for her. The original Lu Tian was the villainous female supporting character who antagonized her early in the story.
The novel followed the “raise-then-suppress” trope, so the protagonist had an unappreciative ex-boyfriend, also the original Lu Tian’s cousin.
He was unfaithful, cheating on Yu Ningxuan, and enlisted Lu Tian’s help to conceal his actions from his girlfriend. Lu Tian, timid and subservient in her adoptive family, was compelled to comply with her cousin’s requests.
Of course, upon meeting various handsome men, Yu Ningxuan eventually discovered the hat her ex-boyfriend had given her, prompting her to break up with him, and Lu Tian, as the accomplice, was condemned and became Yu Ningxuan’s enemy.
Yu Ningxuan then met a series of attractive men, eventually finding her true love.
On the eve of Yu Ningxuan’s engagement, the original Lu Tian learned the truth about their switched identities from her grandmother and discovered that Yu Ningxuan’s grandmother was the sent-down youth! Filled with resentment, seeing Yu Ningxuan, seemingly a princess, adored by her maternal cousins and their friends, Lu Tian realized that everything should have been hers.
So, at Yu Ningxuan’s wedding, Lu Tian revealed the truth, confirming the switch. Yu Ningxuan’s future mother-in-law disapproved, the fiancé turned out to be a mama’s boy, and the protagonist was once again devastated, only to be rescued by her eventual true love, a wealthy and powerful man. Then she began her overpowered life.
Unable to bear Yu Ningxuan’s happiness, the original Lu Tian continued her scheming and was viewed as a thorn in the side of Yu Ningxuan’s supporters. Yu Ningxuan later discovered that Lu Tian had attempted to manipulate her true love and even pressured him to marry her. The once-gentle girl, empowered by Lu Tian’s actions, retaliated. With her many supporters, Yu Ningxuan easily defeated Lu Tian. The original Lu Tian, ostracized and disgraced, died in a car crash after speeding and colliding with a drunk driver.
Yu Ningxuan continued to enjoy her privileged life, happily marrying her wealthy savior and giving birth to twins, surrounded by endless love and wealth.
When Lu Tian read the novel, she’d skimmed over it, ignoring her namesake character’s discomfort. Now, having become that character, the discomfort was gone, replaced by a thrill. It wasn’t her life anymore. What did the plot matter? Couldn’t she just live her life?
Yu Ningxuan, seeing Lu Tian ignoring her messages, started calling. Of course, Lu Tian wouldn’t answer. She turned off her phone. Before the screen went black, she saw the date and time.
July 7th, 201X. This seemed to be Yu Ningxuan’s engagement day. Wait, could it be that coincidental?
Lu Tian sat up abruptly, turning her phone back on and checking the time online, confirming it was Yu Ningxuan’s engagement day. No wonder she remembered the details so clearly—it wasn’t just imagination.
“So, I’ve already offended a bunch of people?”
Lu Tian felt like crying. She understood Yu Ningxuan’s anger; why had she traveled to this exact moment? Even one day earlier, she could have escaped!
And it wasn’t just the protagonist, she had slept her way into a huge problem with her ex-husband, the powerful and charismatic man from the novel.
“Can I still buy a plane ticket and run away?” Lu Tian muttered, randomly searching for flights. Her heart condition couldn’t handle this kind of pressure; escape was the best option.
But it was exciting, too; toying with the edge of angering the protagonist!
Lu Tian dropped her phone, biting her finger, thinking intensely. She may have a bad heart, but she was clever, her own father often called her a sweet-talking little villain. Having a second chance at life, she couldn’t just carelessly die, especially since there were still… several months before her fatal car accident.
Before she could form a plan, her phone rang. This call couldn’t be ignored—it was from Tian Jing, the original Lu Tian’s mother.
“Mom~~~~” Lu Tian greeted sweetly, not at all like someone with a guilty conscience.
Tian Jing was surprised. Having been deprived of her daughter’s affection for a long time, she was touched, her anger subsiding. She asked softly, “Did you go to Yu’s engagement party to cause trouble?”
“Mom, you know?”
“The Yu and Han families are influential. I’ve heard several versions from friends. Tell me the real story.” Tian Jing had been upset—Lu Tian had caused such a huge commotion without a word, causing considerable worry.
The original Lu Tian and Tian Jing didn’t have a close relationship, as Lu Tian felt her mother favored her half-brother. This was a major source of resentment for her.
Lu Tian recounted the most dramatic parts of the story to Tian Jing, her eloquence making it sound as if her mother had witnessed the events firsthand.
“Mom, what do we do now?”
Tian Jing asked in surprise, “What do you mean, ‘what do we do’?”
Lu Tian scratched her head, “I’ve offended so many people, we need a solution. The Gu family will definitely demand a paternity test, and you’ll have to be involved.” The Gu family was Yu Ningxuan’s maternal family and Tian Jing’s birth family.
“Now you’re being sensible? I’ve told you before, think things through! You’re too impulsive.” Tian Jing scolded her.
Lu Tian listened attentively, already having an idea. She tentatively asked, “Mom, should I call Grandma?”
Tian Jing paused, then a smile touched her lips. “You’re not stupid after all. I hear your maternal uncle’s son and youngest uncle still haven’t bought houses. It’s time she found her biological daughter to repay her for raising her.”
“Great! Thanks, Mom.” Before hanging up, Lu Tian confirmed again, “Mom, you’re not angry, right?”
“No, it’s not a big deal.”
Author’s Note:

To avoid misunderstandings, here’s a statement:
This story, I previously serialized under the title “The Boss’ Childhood Sweetheart” (大佬的青梅) with 24,000 words, but due to setting issues, I paused updates and locked the story. It was never on any ranking lists. Today’s release is a complete revision of the setting and outline, ensuring I won’t abandon this story. The names of the main characters and other characters remain unchanged, but the content is significantly different. I cherish the story of these two characters and want to follow through on my promise in the original synopsis; therefore, I couldn’t bring myself to change their names.
I’ll be writing at home before the Spring Festival, so updates are guaranteed. Please believe me, thank you.
