Chapter 63: Raising an Omega (2) â Truly Perverted, Controlling⌠part 1
The first thing that entered his vision was that black uniform, pressed so perfectly there wasn’t a single wrinkle.
…
The steward bowed and stepped into the first basement floor. His gaze pierced through the gloom, finally landing on a raised stone step where Jiang Chenyan was sitting, motionless.
As if he had only just heard the footsteps, Jiang Chenyan slowly lifted his eyes. When his gaze met the steward’s, there wasn’t a hint of panic in his tone. He accused as if it were only natural, “Iâve gotten a bit lost. Why didn’t you send someone to follow me?”
The stewardâs hand at his side paused imperceptibly. The words he was about to say got stuck in his throat. “…”
He had just been about to ask: Why are you here?
Jiang Chenyan rose slowly. He lowered his eyes and raised a hand, his knuckles lightly tapping his hem to brush off the dust.
He silently sized up the Alpha before him.
This man was no ordinary steward; he was clearly a blade kept by Jiang Xuanshenâs side.
Around thirty years old, his features held not a trace of a servant’s submissiveness. Especially those handsâthe pads and palms were covered in a thick layer of calluses. They certainly weren’t ground out by years of holding pens or trays; they looked more like the marks left by years of holding guns and blades.
“Little Young Master.” The steward took a step forward, his figure blocking the light from behind. His voice held no fluctuations as he warned Jiang Chenyan, “This is not an area you should venture into. According to the rules, you need the Masterâs prior permission to enter.”
Jiang Chenyan tilted his head, acting as if he hadn’t heard the warning in the otherâs words. He said carelessly, “I already said I got lost. Brother’s villa is ridiculously large. I wandered around twice and couldn’t find the entrance for a while.”
These words weren’t a total lie. Not only was Jiang Xuanshenâs villa vast, but the internal passages were complex. Forget Jiang Chenyan; even a newly arrived servant would need half a month to figure out the routes.
“Mhm, it was my negligence.” Beneath his glasses, the stewardâs gaze flickered. “I will report this truthfully to the Master. Iâll arrange for two people to follow you from now on to avoid another situation where you get lost.”
the arc of Jiang Chenyanâs mouth suddenly stalled before returning to normal in an instant, but that smile had lost its warmth.
Suppressing the displeasure in his eyes, “There’s no need for such trouble. Stirring up my brother over such a small matter would make me look disobedient, adding trouble to him for no reason, wouldn’t it?”
The steward didn’t respond. His gaze rested on Jiang Chenyanâs face before he silently withdrew his eyes, nodded in agreement, and turned to walk toward the depths of the hallway. Jiang Chenyan frowned and was forced to follow.
In his eyes, this Little Young Master was like a cat prone to bristlingâ
Full of petty tricks, always trying to use small maneuvers to bluff his way through. But every time his vital point was struck, that bit of feigned calm would expose its flaws.
“Walking so fast?” Jiang Chenyan raised an eyebrow. In a hurry to be reincarnated?
The stewardâs pace didn’t stop. A ripple rose in his heart but was quickly smoothed over. Having lived for half a lifetime, had he seen few of the dregs of society or the ghost-like schemes of men? But when it came to deep thinking and careful plotting, few could match Jiang Xuanshen.
Jiang Chenyanâs petty cleverness and tricks were nothing more than small squabbles. At most, it was like a kitten swiping its claws and scratching the fur. How could he possibly win against Jiang Xuanshen, the apparent heir of the Jiang family, who had fought through storms for many years?
The two returned to the main villa building one after the other. The crystal chandeliers in the living room lit the area brightly.
Standing at the entrance hall, the steward gave a clear reminder, hoping he would stay obediently in his room and not cause any more commotion.
Jiang Chenyan showed no outward change, merely nodding flatly. Holding his coat, he went straight upstairs.
The steward would likely tell Jiang Xuanshen about him being near the first basement floor. So next… seeing that things were partially exposed, Jiang Xuanshen would definitely move the hiding place.
Jiang Chenyan walked to the window, his fingertips parting a corner of the heavy curtains.
After his little stunt, if no one was in the first basement floor, there were only two possibilities: either Jiang Xuanshen received the news and moved the hidden person overnight; or, “someone” was just his delusion from the start, and it was just an empty basement.
But if the person were still there…
Not moved at all.
A cold glint flashed in Jiang Chenyanâs eyes, his knuckles turning slightly white.
It would be very troublesome, or rather… very dangerous.
His gaze darkened as he spoke in his mind, “System, I need a micro-camera.”
The system appeared and fell into a long silence. [How did you suddenly remember me?]
“I didn’t not think of you before, but your efficiency is too low. You’re clueless about everything I ask.” Jiang Chenyan leaned by the window and spoke flatly.
The system’s mechanical voice instantly turned cold. [Heh… don’t forget, you’re the one begging me. You’d better show some respect and speak properly.]
Jiang Chenyan raised an eyebrow, his tone rising slightly at the end, “I was wrong?”
It was a question, not a statement.
These words instantly ignited the system’s rage, nearly making it smoke.
Seeing the system truly angry, Jiang Chenyan dialed it back. “Tongzi, how did you become so cold-blooded? Iâm your host. Finding clues and finishing the mission early is good for you too, isn’t it?”
The system hesitated for a moment, completely played. It obediently popped up the exchange interface, and the icon for a micro-camera lit up in Jiang Chenyanâs mind. [Host, what are you planning to do with a micro-camera?]
Jiang Chenyanâs fingertips stroked the needle-shaped device that appeared in his palm. “Youâll find out when the time comes.”
…
A sudden downpour hit tonight. The rain fell continuously throughout the night, the pitter-patter of water carrying a chill. Standing by the window, the scent of wet earth rushed over him.
It wasn’t until dawn the next day that the curtain of rain began to dissipate.
Jiang Xuanshen stuck to the original plan and took Jiang Chenyan to the company. He said he was “bringing him to do work,” but in reality, he just had him show his face at a meeting to get introduced; the assigned tasks were so light they barely counted as work.
Jiang Chenyanâs fingertips stroked the corner of the documents on the table, his eyes lowered in silence. From the bottom of his heart, he didn’t want to stay in a closed room with Jiang Xuanshen.
Under the guise of organizing materials, Jiang Chenyan stole a glance at Jiang Xuanshen. He was leaning back in his office chair, his expression as flat as usual. He hadn’t asked a single word about the basement matter from the night before.
Before Jiang Chenyan could withdraw his gaze, Jiang Xuanshenâs voice fell from overhead. “What are you looking at me for?”
Jiang Chenyan lowered his eyes. “I wasn’t looking at you…”
The guangnao in his pocket vibrated. His fingertips paused as he pulled out the device. His gaze landed on Jiang Xuanshen first. Seeing that the other hadn’t looked up, he said in a low voice, “My friend is looking for me.”
He rose with the device and pushed open the door. He didn’t go far, just leaning against the white hallway wall with his back to the door. His fingertips tapped on the screen, his voice lowered: “Shen Shiyue.”
The screen lit up, and Shen Shiyue appeared in the frame. Jiang Chenyanâs pupils shrank slightly. He wasn’t sure if it was his delusion, but Shen Shiyue seemed a bit differentâmuch more handsome than usual. He was wearing a light-colored shirt that made his complexion look even cleaner. There was less of his usual aloofness in his eyes and more of a gentle warmth.
Jiang Chenyan quickly looked away but couldn’t help peeking back. He secretly grumbled to himself; it must be because he hadn’t seen him in too long that he was having this delusion.
“I miss you a bit. Come back soon.”
Shen Shiyueâs voice came through the guangnao like a feather brushing over his heart. Jiang Chenyan hurriedly looked away, not daring to look at the person on the screen again. What was wrong with Shen Shiyue today?
“You…” Jiang Chenyan cleared his throat, not knowing what to say. “Has something happened? You’re being so mushy.”
Shen Shiyue: “…”
After a moment, he said, “I’m the only one in the dorm. I’m a bit unaccustomed to it.”
Jiang Chenyan couldn’t help the corners of his mouth curling up as he teased, “Don’t tell me you’re afraid of the dark.”
On the other side of the screen, Shen Shiyueâs eyes were as bright as a pool of water. On the surface, he was normal, but looking closely, there was a hint of a smile at the corners of his eyes. The young Alpha followed Jiang Chenyanâs lead: “What if I said I truly am afraid?”
“Don’t stay at your brother’s house anymore. Come back to school.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded in agreement. “Alright. Iâll come back early in these next two days. Weâll go out for a big meal then.”
“Mhm.”
Jiang Chenyan stared at Shen Shiyueâs face on the screen. His fingertips stroked the edge of the device for a moment before he spoke after careful consideration, “Actually… I also quite want to see you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a shadow suddenly fell over him.
Before he could react, the guangnao was abruptly pressed off by a well-defined hand.
Jiang Xuanshen stood before him with a dark face, the low pressure around him nearly freezing the air in the hallway.
Jiang Chenyan was a bit dazed. Looking at the device held in Jiang Xuanshenâs hand, he instinctively asked, “Why did you turn off my guangnao? I was chatting with a friend…”
“Chatting?” Jiang Xuanshenâs knuckles were white from the force of his grip on the device.
He looked up, his eyes as cold as ice. “Is this a normal chat? You saying those boundary-less words to himâthat counts as normal?”
