Chapter 32: Tyrant? They Should Get Their Eyes Checked (First Update)
“Billions of years ago, a kind of organism was born in the universe. They were massive in size, with an indescribable appearance, and fed on star cores. They had thick hides and tough flesh, feared no laser or nuclear weapons, and recklessly invaded the planets of the galaxy. Fortunately, scholars discovered that the power erupted by beastmen with fierce beast bloodlines could actually rival star beasts. From then on, wherever star beasts appeared, there would always be a beastman with a fierce beast bloodline stationed there…”
A voice as gentle as the sound of a cello slowly rose, unfolding a scene from an ancient and distant era.
The most primitive and barbaric slaughter between fierce beasts and star beasts dyed half the star system red.
With the accumulated remains of beastmen as the base color, history served as a pen to draw a series of heroic black-and-white pictures.
Those were the methods of dealing with star beasts that ancestors had summarized with their blood.
In the universe, the number of dangerous races was countless.
Among them, two kinds of organisms, star beasts and Zerg, were the most troublesome.
Star beasts had thick hides and tough flesh and simply couldn’t be killed.
The Zerg were single-minded, only following the commands of the Mother Insect.
To complete the commands of the Mother Insect, they would pay any price.
High-level Zerg possessed a certain amount of wisdom. Not only could they command the Zerg army, but they were also good at combat.
Their destructive power was no less than that of star beasts, and perhaps even superior.
Star beasts were generally loners. As long as one was driven back, there wouldn’t be another star beast attack for the next half year, and the losses were within a controllable range.
But the Zerg were different.
Once an attack was launched, it was to the death.
Added to the Mother Insect’s super-strong reproductive capacity, a single brood could produce an entire army.
Generally, small star system countries would be eaten clean by the Zerg army within three days.
It was the literal “eaten.”
It was very difficult for a Mother Insect to be born within a Zerg swarm.
The birth of a Mother Insect required massive energy. A hungry Mother Insect would issue a command, and the remaining Zerg would swallow energy without regard for the consequences to feed the Mother Insect, subsequently producing even more newborn Zerg.
Wherever a Mother Insect was born, it meant a new war was about to begin.
The Zerg needed to feed energy back to the Mother Insect, constantly invading planets that possessed energy.
And beastmen, for the sake of survival, also had to fight back.
Cycle after cycle, the Zerg became the most feared and hated race of all organisms in the galaxy.
During his time in the Interstellar era, Shen Lin had sent the Ghost Vine out to eavesdrop and had gathered a general understanding of the Federation’s history.
Of course, what he eavesdropped on most was the Zerg mentioned by the beastmen.
As the culprits who had injured Papa, the Zerg’s origin was the first thing Shen Lin looked into.
In the entire history of the Federation, the Zerg occupied one-tenth.
Since the establishment of the Interstellar Federation, a Zerg invasion occurred every three years.
During this time, many heroic events of fighting against the Zerg appeared.
At the same time, the number of beastmen who died in battle on the front lines that year reached nearly a billion.
Although the Federation’s main star alone had a population of 600 million, not to mention many subsidiary stars—the total of all planets together exceeded 100 billion—it still couldn’t withstand Zerg invasions. Losing nearly a billion people in one invasion, who could endure that?
Shen Lin’s chubby small hand swiped across the light screen, and virtual images appeared.
Even though some bloody scenes were pixelated, one could still see the tragedy of the war.
Shen Lin’s small face was set, a teething stick held in his mouth as he bit it every now and then. His dark eyes stared seriously at the images on the light screen, his ears automatically receiving the detailed description of the Federation’s history from the gentle male voice.
A’mei watched with satisfaction as the young master sat obediently and seriously read through the Federation’s history.
Her heart was melted into a puddle.
Today, the young master had suddenly mentioned to her that he wanted to see the Federation’s history.
A’mei thought the young master had gone to eavesdrop on the servants’ gossip again and was curious, so she readily agreed.
It was rare for the young master to make a request, and it was to learn about history in a serious way; she couldn’t be a wet blanket of a head maid.
She applied for the butler’s consent and obtained the secret key to the Shen family’s library.
The librarian projected the Federation history materials onto the Star Brain.
Technology developed rapidly. People were used to using holographic technology, and paper books had gradually faded from people’s daily lives, with some history books disappearing into the vast sea of people.
Now, only the Star Clan clans with their massive collection rooms preserved a complete history system. Mid-level nobles knew a bit, while well-to-do small families were in the dark, let alone the ordinary beastmen at the bottom.
If not for entering the Interstellar era, they might not even have the luxury of reading.
Fortunately, the young master was born into the Shen family and had a privileged life.
If he were placed in an ordinary family, given that the young master’s bloodline was useless, it would be very difficult to find a proper job.
He probably wouldn’t even be able to afford a single vial of inhibitor.
She was the young master’s head maid, and the Second Miss had doubled her salary, so she had plenty of Star Coins to buy mid-grade inhibitors.
The servants with lower positions than her were a bit tighter, but fortunately, it was still acceptable.
Many people outside could only use low-grade inhibitors.
Low-grade inhibitors were mixed with many inferior ingredients, and using too many would accelerate the time for bloodline berserkization.
Many beastmen would be sent to the Blood Abyss just as they reached middle age.
Beastmen possessed beast transformation abilities rivaling starships, but their lives were simultaneously counting down.
The smile on A’mei’s face gradually faded. She didn’t know how long she could accompany the young master; maybe one day she would also be sent to the Blood Abyss.
The cub was receiving new knowledge.
Besides wanting to know what the Zerg looked like, he also wanted to know more about the interstellar world.
Monster Papa had said that when one was in a strange environment and knew nothing about the outside world…
First, observe quietly, then slowly explore to find a safe house to hide in, and gradually clear the surrounding obstacles, slowly expanding toward the outer perimeter.
Always ensure one’s own safety to avoid accidentally “cracking” and dying outside.
It sounded a bit like dark humor.
In reality, this was the way to survive in the apocalypse.
Shen Lin utilized the method Monster Papa had taught him. After arriving at the Shen residence, he explored carefully, observed vigilantly, and bit by bit placed his own label on the small castle that belonged to him.
Until now, as he gradually understood the entire world and had a bit of a foundation in his heart, he began to expand outward.
He was like a sponge absorbing knowledge, quickly recording every planet and national race that passed before his eyes.
In his mind, he quickly sketched out a giant interstellar map.
While he was studying seriously, a large cursor suddenly popped up in the virtual space of the Star Brain. On the cursor was marked a totem of a Phoenix bird surrounded by crimson flames.
Seeing the Phoenix totem, Shen Lin’s hand was faster than his brain, and he swiped in the void.
A figure appeared on the light screen.
“Bingbing, what are you doing? Wow, Bingbing, your human form is so cute. It’s a pity I’m not the first person to see Bingbing’s human cub form.”
Dazzling red hair brushed past Shen Lin’s face, and he instinctively reached out to grab that strand of hair.
The light particles of the virtual data passed through his fingertips, cold and chilly.
Shen Lin unconsciously looked down at his fingers.
The little cub’s action successfully pleased the youth, and the bit of disappointment in his heart quietly vanished.
“Does Bingbing miss me?”
The red-haired youth was wearing a light red court robe today, supporting his chin with one hand. His red hair hung smoothly and obediently, making him look even more noble.
Shen Lin looked at the red-haired youth and moved his feet toward the other’s side.
The red-haired youth stroked the cub’s soft pink fur.
It was as if he could truly feel the softness of the pink fur through the light screen.
The red-haired youth wasn’t satisfied; he went from “rubbing” the hair to “stroking” the face.
If there were no light screen, he could probably stroke the cub from head to tail, finely feeling the temperature coming from the cub’s body.
“You’ve grown three centimeters taller, very good!”
The red-haired youth praised him without hesitation.
Shen Lin’s mouth opened wide, revealing a set of rice-white small teeth.
“Eh, Bingbing, you’ve grown teeth? Let me count how many you’ve grown. One, two… seven, eight—you’ve grown a full eight small teeth! Very good~”
The cub’s small chest was puffed out high.
The smile on the red-haired youth’s face grew even wider.
“Mm, now that Bingbing’s teeth have grown, your diet can be expanded. How about this: tomorrow I’ll have Mikhiel prepare a new menu. Bingbing, tell him whatever you want to eat, and I’ll have it air-shipped from here. It only takes a few hours, guaranteeing that Bingbing eats the freshest food.”
“Thanks~”
The sticky and milky voice instantly captured the heart of the young monarch.
“Bingbing, you can speak?”
The red-haired youth circled around the cub in delight.
Shen Lin showed his tiny rice teeth and gave a proud smile.
The red-haired youth pointed into the void, hands on his waist, looking both amused and exasperated.
“You, you really are a little rascal. You actually held it in until now to speak. Did you want to see your brother making a fool of himself?”
Though seemingly blaming him, his face was entirely full of smiles.
With such a sunny and vivid youth, where was there even a hint of a tyrant’s aura?
A’mei watched the red-haired youth interacting with the young master and secretly thought to herself.
Many Federation councilors knew that the little Majesty of Ikas and their young master had a good relationship.
Back then, the young monarch hadn’t even bothered with those councilors; he had only focused on chatting with the young master.
A’mei had certainly let out a heavy sigh of relief in her heart.
Those councilor lords had looked at the young master with a slighting attitude and didn’t even bother to act; they just spread it boldly on their faces.
It had made the head maid quite angry.
If it weren’t for her own low status and the fact that she couldn’t bring trouble to the young master, she would have gone up and given each of them a slap.
Fortunately, the Majesty of Ikas also used the same method to discipline that group of high-and-mighty councilor lords.
A’mei was grateful for the Majesty of Ikas’s intervention, so she had climbed over the wall to browse the Ikas Empire’s Star Network. Seeing people on it say that the red-haired youth was a tyrant who killed without blinking, A’mei remained skeptical.
What tyrant would softly coax a cub to sleep and spend a fortune to buy a planet as a gift?
His Majesty of Ikas not only sent planets and whole ship-loads of toys but also bought gifts for all of them, the servants.
Almost every person taking care of the young master had received a gift box, which contained not only an expensive high-grade potion but also two high-grade energy stones.
One high-grade energy stone = 10,000 low-grade energy stones = 100,000 Star Coins.
The Majesty of Ikas’s grand gesture had left a very good impression on A’mei.
Tyrant?
Those people really should go and have their eyes checked.
“Bingbing, why don’t you call me ‘Brother’ and let me hear it?”
The red-haired youth knew the cub could speak and began to entice him into opening his mouth.
The cub pursed his lips, hesitating.
“Is it possible that in Bingbing’s heart, I don’t even have the qualification to be called ‘Brother’?”
The youth’s eyes, which were as red as the sun, were filled with sorrow, and even his red hair seemed to have grown dim.
In his urgency, the cub blurted out: “Little Chicken…”
The next second, he immediately covered his mouth, blinking his innocent apricot eyes.
The red-haired youth’s smile cracked.
“Bingbing, you, what did you just call me?”
The cub shook his head.
I don’t know, the cub didn’t say anything.
Translator’s Note:
Oh my gosh, “Little Chicken”! I can’t stop laughing. To a three-year-old, a majestic Phoenix totem probably does look like a fluffy red chicken. Poor “Tyrant” Emperor—he’s a terrifying ruler to the galaxy, but just a “Little Chicken” to our Bingbing.
In Chinese, “Xiao Ji” (小鸡) means little chicken or chick. It’s such a hilarious contrast to his “Tyrant” (暴君) reputation.
Hope you’re enjoying this sweet interaction. See you in the next chapter!
