The Cannon Fodder Lets Loose and Steals the Protagonist Shou Chapter 83.6

Part 6

“Huh?” Lu Siheng was confused after being scolded. Watching the man push the luggage away in a huff, he muttered to himself, This guy clearly has some mental issues.

Just then, a light chuckle reached his ears, sending a tingling sensation through him. Lu Siheng realized belatedly what a stupid thing he’d done. A layer of light pink crawled up his ears in embarrassment.

He looked toward the sound. A boy was squatting by some flowers, using a bottle of water to water a wilted periwinkle.

He thought he should flee in shame, but instead, he walked over as if possessed and squatted beside the other, initiating a conversation. The boy wore a baseball cap that hid his features. Lu Siheng stared at his straight nose and pale lips.

Realizing it was impolite, he retracted his gaze and asked, “Are you a student here?”

“Sort of.” The boy finished watering and pointed to another pot. “Is it beautiful?”

Lu Siheng looked. It was the pale blue butterfly orchid he’d seen before. The small copper tag was blown over by the wind; the pattern on the back was a chibi character wearing half-rimmed glasses.

Unsure if the boy was asking about the flower or the drawing, Lu Siheng replied dizzily, “It’s beautiful.”

He saw the boy’s lips curve. “I think so too.”

The boy suddenly turned his head. Only then did Lu Siheng see his face clearly. His breath hitched. Suddenly, the yellowish lenses of the glasses felt like an obstruction.

“Then… do you like it?”

As the boy spoke, his lips moved slightly. His clear voice carried a hint of coolness in the stifling air, which was incredibly alluring.

After a long silence, Lu Siheng did something very presumptuous—he gently took off the other’s hat.

As their eyes met, the blurred face in his dreams became clear, replaced frame by frame by the face before him.

“I… like it.” Staring at the boy’s face, Lu Siheng felt as though his heart were lost. His thoughts were a mess, as if he were drunk.

“Student, acting so flippant… isn’t very good, is it?”

The voice, filled with laughter, “knocked” him awake like flowing water. Lu Siheng slowly opened his eyes to find their faces extremely close, nose to nose. A finger was pressed against his lips, stopping his advance.

He grabbed the finger with a mix of fear and reverence. “Only for you.”

With that, he pulled down the gold-rimmed glasses and used the momentum to pull the other into his arms, completing the kiss he hadn’t succeeded in a moment ago.

Their breaths mingled. A tear fell onto Shen Yunqian’s palm.

The person leaning against his shoulder spoke in a slightly raspy voice: “Shen Yunqian… no matter who I am, I will never forget you.”

A few passing students were shocked and took photos wildly, but no one disturbed them.

In a place no one noticed, an anonymous post on the school’s confession wall titled [The very handsome Senior from the Business School Finance Department and an exchange student from S-Country’s Morriston College have secretly gotten together] was pushed to the top of the trending posts.

During the National Day break, Shen Yunqian was ordered by his mother to return to S-Country. Lu Siheng, afraid the other would vanish again if he woke up, insisted on following him, calling it “meeting the family.”

He was stubborn until they got on the plane, but Shen Yunqian saw him constantly rubbing his legs. “Are you nervous?”

“N-No.” Lu Siheng was stubborn, but he wanted to cry within two seconds. He grabbed Shen Yunqian’s arm, his heart filled with unease. “What if your mother doesn’t like me? What if she sees I’m a male daughter-in-law and won’t let you come back with me?”

Shen Yunqian comforted him: “Don’t be nervous. My mother doesn’t eat people. She likes you.”

Lu Siheng drank several gulps of water, his hands still trembling. “No, I’m still nervous. What should I do?”

“Then what do you suggest?” Shen Yunqian asked helplessly.

“Coax me a bit.” Lu Siheng shook Shen Yunqian’s wrist pitiably. “Please.”

Shen Yunqian took his hand and placed a kiss on his forearm. His voice was soft: “Tell me, have I coaxed you enough? My…”

“Boyfriend.”

Before Lu Siheng could act “affected,” he saw where the other had kissed. Alarm bells rang immediately.

“Trust me! This is my first relationship. I’ve never liked anyone before, and certainly never had intimate contact with anyone! My mother can testify!”

“Not even in the holographic pod! Gu Qingyi can testify!”

“This scar has been here since I was little. My mother said I was bitten by a cat. It was definitely not a bite from a little lover!”

To prove his innocence, Lu Siheng rambled on. Some surrounding passengers who heard him looked over with interest in the gossip.

Meanwhile, Shen Yunqian stared thoughtfully at the bottle-cap-sized bite scar on Lu Siheng’s arm.

“I heard from Assistant Zhao that you’re in S-Country. As it happens, Qianyu from your Auntie Jun’s family is back too. You two should meet this time.”

Hearing this, Lu Siheng frantically covered the receiver. He glanced toward the bathroom, sat up, connected his earphones, and went straight to the balcony.

“You should give up on that idea. It’s impossible for me to be with her. I have someone I like, I’ve already caught him. Please don’t disturb, thanks.”

Hearing this, Ms. Jiang Qingran’s temper vanished instantly. “Really?! Good, good, good! When are you bringing him to see me? You pick a day, and Mommy will fly back immediately.”

“Wait, I’ll have your father redecorate the villa right now and prepare a gift. I’ll make sure everything is perfect.”

Lu Siheng: “Wait until he’s willing to go home with me.”

“That much of a treasure?” Jiang Qingran was curious.

“I’m hanging up.” Lu Siheng was speechless.

“Wait, wait!” Jiang Qingran called for an emergency stop. “You brat. Won’t even let me finish. I’ve already made an appointment with your Auntie Jun to eat at the BayWaves Hotel this Sunday. I’ve sent you the location; come then.”

“Don’t worry, since you have someone you like, Mommy won’t force you. Besides, even if you weren’t dating… it wouldn’t work out between you two anyway. Sigh.”

After hanging up, Lu Siheng pondered the meaning of Ms. Jiang’s final disappointed tone.

Had she taken the wrong medicine? He knew his mother’s “looks-oriented” personality well. Had that girl grown up ugly?

But it had nothing to do with him. He had great taste!

Lu Siheng looked at the location and decided to give Ms. Jiang a taste of reality. He just hadn’t refused, nor had he agreed to go.

Returning to the room, Shen Yunqian had already finished his shower. He sat on a small armchair in loose pajamas, on the phone.

“Alright, I understand.” He saw Lu Siheng looking over and his eyes crinkled. After finishing the sentence, he hung up.

The overhead light fell on him, making Shen Yunqian’s eyes bright. His slightly blue pupils seemed to hold the entire galaxy.

Lu Siheng took a few steps closer and stopped by the table, staring down at the person.

“Want some grapes?” The man’s long, pale fingers pushed a fruit plate over. The translucent, round skins were covered in a layer of moisture.

Very alluring.

It was his.

“Yes.” Just as Lu Siheng sat down to squeeze in, Shen Yunqian stood up. “Then you eat.” He ruffled Lu Siheng’s hair in passing.

Lu Siheng slumped into the sofa, stuffing his mouth with grapes in annoyance. His resentful gaze was fixed on Shen Yunqian, who was sketching at the desk.

If you knew, you’d think he was eating grapes; if you didn’t, you’d think he was eating an enemy. Being so distracted while eating led to disaster—he bit his tongue.

Lu Siheng was angry and in pain, but he couldn’t just throw a tantrum, so he punched a pillow in silence.

“What’s wrong?” Shen Yunqian had noticed his movements for a long time. Seeing him quiet down was a bit surprising.

“It hurts…” Lu Siheng, like a large dog who had finally gotten its owner’s attention, pouted and began to act aggrieved. A true drama king.

Shen Yunqian had no idea he’d suffered while eating; he thought it was a lingering effect of the head injury. He put down his work and walked over.

Predictably, what awaited him was being pulled down by Lu Siheng.

Shen Yunqian was forced to sit on a pair of thighs. He adjusted his posture quickly, his palms supporting him on the sofa to create space between them—a “kabedon” posture.

Covering Lu Siheng’s mouth as he tried to initiate a kiss, Shen Yunqian narrowed his eyes. “Didn’t you say you didn’t like kissing?”

Lu Siheng knew he was referring to the events inside. He wrapped his arms around the other’s waist. “You can blame Gu Qingyi for that. He gave me a bunch of settings about having an unhappy family life; that wasn’t my intent.”

“Whether I am Lu Siheng or Lu Xunye, right now… I like you. I have official status.”

He pushed his luck, biting Shen Yunqian’s collarbone to leave a proprietary mark. “I’m not just going to kiss; I’m going to bite.”
