Chapter 28: Monitoring
The Alpha’s cold, white, long fingers lifted the chin as he turned his head to kiss him.
Ruan Zhimian’s thick, curled eyelashes blinked many times. His fingers clutched the edge of the quilt until a tear fell, blurring his vision. He even forgot to breathe, his snowy ear-tips turning a deep red.
He was still thinking that the dream he had was quite real.
Shi He lowered his head. “Breathe.”
The little scammer in his arms looked at him obediently, his eyes misty. His lips opened, breathing lightly.
Stupid.
An Alpha in their special period shouldn’t behave this way. Amber pheromones drifted out in small amounts, encircling Ruan Zhimian, wanting to dominate him completely yet restictively floating around the surroundings.
Obsessive yet gentle.
Shi He’s hand clasped over the back of Ruan Zhimian’s hand, prying open the fingertips that were clutching red. He caught them in his palm, lowered his eyes, and bit down on the Beta’s beautiful, soft ring finger with his canines.
“It hurts.”
A tear slid out. He looked at his finger, his voice tiny: “You bit me.” While complaining delicately, he was also dropping “little pearls.” Clearly a little scammer, yet looking as if he had suffered a great injustice.
“I’ll bite you back too.”

The next day, early morning.
Ruan Zhimian climbed out of Shi He’s bedroom wearing the large “pajamas,” looking somewhat incredulously at the tooth marks on his finger.
His behavior while sleeping had become even stranger, besides rolling around and dreaming.
Do Betas have special periods too?
“I bite myself while I’m asleep now?”
“It must be… because I’m sleeping in a strange environment today.”
Having woken up early, Ruan Zhimian spent a long time checking his phone.
In the end, Mr. X-baidu told him that dreaming wildly might be due to physical weakness.

It was after 8:00 AM now. Ruan Zhimian picked up his glass to drink juice.
Ruan Xubai’s call came through: “Mianmian, I’ve just left the house to pick you up. Are you at school right now?”
—Today he was going to the Chinese medicine clinic found by his aunt for a follow-up.
“Brother, I’m at a friend’s house. I’ll send you the address.”
Ruan Zhimian didn’t know the address. He hung up and listened to Shi He tell him, then typed it out and sent it to Ruan Xubai. “Are you going to work today?”
Shi He handed him a tissue. “No. I’m going to the school; I’ve contacted someone to see if I can find my boyfriend.”
Ruan Zhimian, who was wiping his hands, coughed, gradually crumpling the tissue into a ball. His small face looked exceptionally obedient. “I’m too busy today, so I won’t be going to school.”

There was nothing he could do, so it was better to leave quickly.
Ruan Zhimian went back to the bedroom to change.
Shi He washed the plates clean and put them in the cupboard. He wiped the water from his hands and lowered his eyes to look at the tooth marks on the inside of his wrist.
Five minutes later, Ruan Zhimian came out after changing.
Just then Ruan Xubai called. Shi He put on a jacket and walked him down to the underground garage. “Safety first on the road.”
Ruan Zhimian wanted to leave, yet wanted to say something.
In the end, he only managed one sentence: “You must pay more attention to rest and eat on time. If you don’t take care of yourself, your friends will worry too.”
A few meters away, the black vehicle was parked.
The window rolled down, and Ruan Xubai looked at them faintly. “Mianmian, come over.”
Ruan Zhimian waved to Shi He and ran to the side of the car.
Ruan Xubai got out, opened the passenger door, and then closed it. He glanced at Shi He, got in the car, and only asked his brother once the car had driven out of the community: “You stayed at his house last night?”
“Yes, Brother.”
Ruan Xubai didn’t see any sign of liking him, so he gave a warning in advance: “He is an Alpha and a member of the Shi family. Don’t get too close to him.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the small head dropped, and he actively changed the subject: “Brother, are we going to the hospital?”
“No, to the Chinese medicine clinic.”
The old Chinese medicine doctor found by Ruan Xubai’s mother, Ruan Yechun, after searching for a long time. He came from a family of traditional practitioners with the surname Zhu. The old man had practiced medicine for many years, had countless students, and had an excellent reputation.
The car stopped by the road, and Ruan Xubai got out with Ruan Zhimian’s medical records.
Just as they reached the door, they saw a soft and cute young boy tenaciously pulling another young boy. His mouth turned down, almost kneeling. “Brother, you are A-Chai’s best friend. Don’t ignore me.”

Ruan Xubai held the previous prescription. “Old Master Zhu, I’ve brought my brother for a follow-up.”
To the side, Ruan Zhimian’s beautiful, pale face was lifted as he spoke obediently, “Hello, Old Master Zhu.”
Old Master Zhu smiled while leaning on his cane, letting his apprentice lead them to the consultation room.
The observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking took a full half hour.
“It’s similar to what your aunt said. Your body has had issues since childhood. No major illness, but constant minor ones. You not only need to watch your diet but also eat more warming medicinal meals.”
Old Master Zhu’s energy field was very gentle. He wrote down many medicinal meals, let his apprentice organize them, and readjusted the prescription.
“Young Master Ruan, rest more in your daily life. Do not let your worries become too heavy.”
Ruan Zhimian responded, “Thank you.”
He walked out of the consultation room to find his brother.
Ruan Xubai sent him a message saying to wait in the hall.
Ruan Zhimian found a seat and sat down. He closed his eyes, rubbed his temples, and talked to himself: “Once everything is over, I’ll properly regulate my body.”
It wasn’t even 10:00 AM yet when Teng Yu suddenly called.
“Mianmian, where are you? You didn’t go back to school, did you?”
“I’m at the clinic, having a follow-up with my brother.”
Teng Yu’s tone became serious. “Whatever you do, don’t go back.”
“A screenshot from the surveillance when you went to pick up a package… I don’t know who posted it on the school forum. The whole school is looking for who this person is. Fortunately, when you went to get the package back then, you used Shi He’s phone number.”
Ruan Zhimian stood up abruptly. “What?”
Who else could it be?
