The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 88

Chapter 88: Flanked on Both Sides

Seeing Lin Shiyu leaning in close to him, Wen Yuhuai’s brow furrowed. He tilted his head back against the sofa to create distance. “Why are you asking? Is dinner ready?”

The question seemed to snap Lin Shiyu back to reality. His body stiffened for a moment before he slowly straightened up. “Not yet. I just heard you on the phone and was a bit curious.”

“After all, with Fu Xingjian watching us like a hawk, it’s really not suitable for you to show your face in public too often.”

Wen Yuhuai flashed his phone screen in front of the man with a nonchalant attitude. “Song Xingmian. I promised to take him out tomorrow.”

“Besides, Fu Xingjian hasn’t made a move for so many days. I’m actually hoping he’ll show up.”

Lin Shiyu also knew he had lost control a bit just now. He took a deep breath and stepped back two steps to maintain a safe distance. “Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing. I was just too worried about you.”

Wen Yuhuai took the offered excuse. “I know. By the way, are there any fun places in Haishi?”

He was also a newcomer and really didn’t know where to have fun in Haishi.

Lin Shiyu had already turned to head back to the kitchen. Hearing this, he looked back with a meaningful gaze. “What kind of ‘fun’ are we talking about?”

Wen Yuhuai’s lips curled into a smile, and the corners of his eyes crinkled. The smile was so brilliant it was hard to look away. “A place where it’s easy for people to trip up.”

He wasn’t sure if one Song Xingmian could lure Fu Xingjian out. If it worked, great; if not, he’d just treat it as a day out. After all, his nerves had been frayed for so many days; it was time to relax.

Lin Shiyu was back in the kitchen. He lifted the lid of the clay pot to check the bubbling soup. Estimating the time was about right, he prepared to stir-fry a few more dishes. “Then go to Aurora. It’s my uncle’s place. It couldn’t be easier to set something up there.”

Wen Yuhuai frowned. “I said you don’t need to involve yourself in this.”

Lin Shiyu heated the pan, the ingredients sizzling as they hit the oil. “One last time. After this, if you tell me not to meddle, I won’t.”

With things said to this extent, Wen Yuhuai naturally had no reason to refuse.

By the time Lin Shiyu’s soup was done, the sky had completely darkened. The two sat at the dining table and ate in silence.

Lin Shiyu’s skills were indeed good. He had captured the essence of several Southern dishes and modified them slightly to suit Wen Yuhuai’s palate. The taste was quite impressive.

After eating his fill, Wen Yuhuai sprawled lazily on the sofa to digest. The television, which took up nearly an entire wall, was on, playing a laughing variety show. The soft light from the crystal chandelier hit his slightly rounded cheek, making him look incredibly soft.

Lin Shiyu stood to the side, quietly watching this scene. A curve slowly formed at the corners of his lips, and an unrealistic fantasy sprouted in his heart.

If only time could stop at this moment. I don’t ask for more, as long as I can always see him like this, unguarded before me.

Wen Yuhuai suddenly turned his head to look at him. Before Lin Shiyu could react, Yuhuai jerked his chin at him. “Why are you standing there? Come sit.”

Lin Shiyu walked over but chose a single-seater sofa.

In truth, there was plenty of room beside Wen Yuhuai, and he could have sat right next to him. However, after losing control once tonight, it really wasn’t wise to get too close.

“What are you watching?”

Wen Yuhuai remained huddled lazily in the sofa, not even bothering to lift his eyelids. “Can’t you see for yourself?”

Lin Shiyu chuckled to himself and didn’t say more. He fixed his gaze on the TV screen and started watching along. It was a popular variety show featuring trending celebrities; it was quite interesting.

The two sat together watching TV in silence, the atmosphere exceptionally harmonious.

When the show ended, Wen Yuhuai let out a lazy yawn and finally stood up. Still yawning, he headed toward his room. “Going to sleep. Goodnight.”

Lin Shiyu turned off the TV and followed him up, going to his own room. “Goodnight.”

Having gone to bed early the night before, Wen Yuhuai woke up just as dawn was breaking the next day.

Men are often a bit “excited” in the morning. Wen Yuhuai was a physically and mentally healthy man, so he was no exception. He simply went to the bathroom to take a shower.

After the shower, he finally calmed down. He checked the time; it wasn’t even 8:00 AM.

Just as he was about to put his phone down to get dressed, it rang suddenly. He picked it up and saw it was Song Xingmian again.

Not wanting to keep him hanging anymore, Wen Yuhuai answered. Song Xingmian’s voice came through impatiently, filled with anticipation. “Brother, I’m ready. When are we going out to play?”

Wen Yuhuai couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “What time is it? Have you checked the clock?”

Song Xingmian sounded a bit anxious. “I have! I’ve been waiting for a full two hours since I woke up before I dared to call you, for fear of waking you up.”

Wen Yuhuai hadn’t dried his hair yet. He grabbed a towel and gave it a few rough rubs. Once it stopped dripping, he tossed the towel aside. “What’s the fun during the day? All the fun is at night. I’ll contact you in the afternoon. Go back to sleep and catch up on some rest.”

The other side dawdled for a while before reluctantly hanging up.

Wen Yuhuai threw his phone on the bed and started changing. He picked out an outfit with a “biker” vibe. The place Lin Shiyu mentioned was a high-end club; ordinary people couldn’t get in. But at its core, it was a place for pleasure. Since most of the patrons were wealthy, the vibe was more “open” than average bars or nightclubs. Wearing a formal suit would make him look out of place.

After hanging up, Song Xingmian began an agonizing wait. Wen Yuhuai told him to sleep, but how could he possibly? He settled his breakfast and lunch hastily, finally receiving Wen Yuhuai’s call at 4:00 PM.

“I’m at Aurora. Come over.”

Song Xingmian chirped his agreement while switching screens to search for the location. Once he found it, he said immediately, “I’ll be there in half an hour. Brother, wait for me.”

When he said half an hour, he meant half an hour. The call was at 4:00 PM, and he arrived exactly at 4:30 PM.

Wen Yuhuai had booked a VIP private room. The large leather sofa could easily hold a dozen people, and the long table was half-covered with imported liquors.

Several beautiful girls, called in to fill the room and act as bait to lure the snake from its hole, sat at the other end of the sofa, chatting softly. Their gazes frequently landed on the exceptionally handsome guest beside them.

It’s so strange. He calls us here but doesn’t let us do anything.

A few of them found such a wealthy and good-looking guest a rare sight. They grew bold and sidled over with charming smiles. “Brother, it’s boring to just sit there. Let us have a drink with you.”

When Song Xingmian pushed open the gilded, carved sandalwood door under the waiter’s guidance, what he saw was the playboy scene of Wen Yuhuai flanked by beauties on both sides.
