【Orange × Nan Xi】 It’s Not Like We Haven’t Slept Together Before
Is he a psychopath? Flirting with me again!
Orange somewhat huffily pushed the box aside, but less than a minute later, he couldn’t resist quietly taking the card back.
Anyway, he was in his own room; no one could see.
Orange thought this while cautiously glancing at the door.
After confirming there was no movement, he carefully held the card and looked at it over and over.
Orange-bao… he actually called me Orange-bao!
Orange’s heart went thump-thump as it accelerated. He wanted to despise his own unpromising self, but he couldn’t help his heart racing for Nan Xi.
Orange finally pulled open his drawer and carefully placed the card inside.
This doesn’t mean anything.
Orange comforted himself this way while taking out a chocolate and putting it in his mouth. I just simply wanted to eat chocolate.
Yes, that must be it!
After this incident, Orange clearly noticed that Nan Xi had become much more proactive. Many times, Orange couldn’t even avoid him.
Nan Xi even changed his profile picture on social media to the drawing Orange had made for him.
The fans followed his updates closely. Seeing Nan Xi suddenly change his profile picture, they left comments one after another.
[Hubby, why did you suddenly change to a new profile picture?]
[It’s actually quite cute.]
[Is this you? So cute.]
[Hubby, did you commission this profile picture? Which artist drew it? I want to commission them too!]
[It looks much better than that dark one.]
[Yes, it’s full of life.]
[Has anyone noticed that this art style looks a bit like…]
[The person above, I also think it looks a bit like it.]
[The “riddle-makers” are here again. Just say what it looks like!]
[It looks like our Orange-bao’s art style. Orange-bao drew many Chibi versions before; they look just like this.]
[I’m shipping this!]
[Speechless. What’s there to ship? This “Sea King” (player) Orange has drawn for so many people. Other brothers have them too, but Nan Xi gets one and treats it like a treasure?]
[??? Do you want to listen to what you’re saying?]
[The person above isn’t wrong. Isn’t Orange just a Sea King? Look at how good his relationship is with Dawn, and also Arrow-cloud, Ling Han, Fourteen… so many players in the League are on good terms with him. What does Nan Xi count for?]
[Exactly. I suggest not brain-supplementing too much. When he won while serving in WK, he even sketched a five-man group portrait.]
[Is it that deep? It’s just a teammate drawing a profile picture.]
[Yeah, can the “CP-brains” (shippers) get lost?]
[Besides, can’t our Nan Xi just commission a piece?]
After a while, Nan Xi’s reply appeared.
Ni Feng.Nan Xi: [Orange drew it for me. I like it very much.]
Fans: ???
Since when was your relationship so good?
Nan Xi looked at the comment section, frowned, and deleted the comment calling Orange a Sea King.
But in his heart, he remembered those names: Wen Ran didn’t count, but Arrow-cloud, Fourteen, and Ling Han—it seemed every one of them had known Orange longer than he had.
Nan Xi inexplicably felt a sense of crisis.
He had intended to just do a random search, but upon searching, he discovered that Orange actually had “CPs” (couples) with each of those three.
Arrow-cloud didn’t even need mentioning—a teammate who had fought through many seasons with him, the ADC he protected closely, the first person recorded in his notebook. Fourteen’s Weibo was filled with almost nothing but eating and playing with Orange; every photo could make shippers die of happiness. Ling Han and Orange came from the same youth training batch and also had interactions.
It was over. The more Nan Xi looked, the more nervous he became. He secretly searched for the CP between himself and Orange, only to find that there were only a handful of people shipping them.
The most recent post was from half a month ago.
Nan Xi: “…..”
Orange naturally noticed that Nan Xi had changed his WeChat profile picture to the one he drew. Moreover, the owner of that profile picture came to chat with him every day.
It’s just that Nan Xi really wasn’t someone who knew how to chat. The topics he found were usually awkward or game-related.
Orange frequently saw the “typing” indicator for a long time, only for Nan Xi to send a single “un.”
It made him both laugh and cry.
—
The next match was Ni Feng against Team Right. It was Team Right’s home game, so the team needed to travel there early.
While assigning rooms, the manager said with some helplessness, “We can’t stay in single rooms this time.”
Xing Chen was confused. “Why?”
“Don’t mention it. It happens to be the tourist season, and the rooms are all gone.” The manager said, “We finally managed to grab four rooms. We’ll split into pairs, and one person gets a single room.”
“I’ll stay with the coach. You guys see how you want to split and who gets the single room.”
That was the plan, but it was already assumed the single room would go to Nan Xi.
The Mid-laner and Solo-laner quickly reached a consensus: “The two of us will stay together. That way we can wake each other up.”
Orange thought for a moment and also spoke up, “Then Xing Chen, how about the two of us—”
“Orange!” A sudden voice interrupted him. “I’ll stay in a room with you!”
Everyone present: “???”
Did they hear that right? Did those words actually come from Nan Xi?
Their Captain would actually proactively offer to share a room with someone?
Orange was still a bit dazed and looked at Nan Xi. “But aren’t you used to staying in a single room?”
An unwritten rule in Team Ni Feng was that Captain Nan Xi always stayed in a room by himself because he really disliked staying with others.
In all the matches they had played away from home, this had never changed.
“I don’t have that many habits,” Nan Xi’s ears were a bit red, and he was eager for Orange to agree. “Besides, it’s not like we haven’t slept together before.”
Everyone: “???” Hmm? What happened? Is this something we’re allowed to hear?
Orange: “???” Do you want to listen to what you’re saying?
Seeing Orange’s expression, Nan Xi thought he had forgotten and grew even more anxious, his speaking speed increasing. “It was that time you were handcuffed. I was the one who unlocked them for you.”
Everyone’s eyes widened even further.
There were even handcuffs? What kind of perverted, shameful play were you two doing?
Orange: “……”
Although he knew exactly which time Nan Xi was referring to, it was a different matter when described by Nan Xi like that. Especially since Nan Xi said it so vaguely. Orange could feel the gazes of his other teammates; they were practically staring a hole through him.
“Then the two of us will share a room.” Orange quickly spoke up, fearing Nan Xi would say something else world-shaking.
He desperately wanted to explain that it wasn’t what they thought, but he was afraid it would only make things worse, so he just shut his mouth.
Xing Chen was next to them, so scared he didn’t dare breathe. He hadn’t expected the Captain and Orange to have that kind of relationship!
Luckily he hadn’t agreed in time; otherwise, he suspected the Red Buff would have been permanently cut off from him.
But now it could be considered a blessing in disguise—he got to stay in a single room.
Xing Chen clutched his chest. No wonder he always thought the way the Captain looked at Orange was strange. It turns out it was just the possessiveness of a young couple.
On the day they checked into the hotel, there were no activities. Orange didn’t speak to Nan Xi the whole way, intentionally ignoring him. He felt it was simply too embarrassing; now his teammates didn’t know what to think of him and Nan Xi.
He clearly had no relationship with him, yet the man insisted on saying such misleading things.
Nan Xi, however, was very happy and even helped him carry his things.
This twin room was a standard one with two beds. Only then did Orange breathe a sigh of relief.
In the past, he had hoped he could sleep in the same bed as Nan Xi. But now, he was glad they didn’t have to sleep together.
They had dinner together at the hotel. Orange only took a few bites; he really had no appetite.
The Mid-laner complained, “My review is that it’s not as good as instant noodles.”
Orange also gave an “un.” “I really miss the fruit salad at the base.”
“It’s good enough to have something to eat,” Xing Chen said. “Fill your stomachs first. We can order delivery tomorrow.”
“Xing Chen is right,” the coach also said. “It’s already late tonight. Everyone should endure it for a bit and go back to rest early. There’s a match tomorrow night!”
Nan Xi suddenly put down his chopsticks. “I’m full. I’m going back first.”
Orange didn’t take it to heart and stayed downstairs for a bit longer before returning to the room.
But when he returned to the room, he found that Nan Xi wasn’t there at all.
Where did he go?
However, the thought only surfaced for a few seconds before Orange suppressed it. Pah, pah, pah. Why are you so concerned about him? He’s a grown man; he won’t get lost.
After a long day of travel, Orange took a shower to relieve his fatigue.
However, after he finished washing, he discovered a fatal problem.
This wasn’t the base; he didn’t have a bathrobe.
He hadn’t even brought his underwear—it was still in the backpack outside.
Orange: “……”
But now, he couldn’t exactly ask someone to hand it to him.
Since there was no one in the room anyway, he couldn’t just stay in the bathroom forever, right?
Besides, even if he waited for Nan Xi to return, it wouldn’t be convenient to ask the man to get him his underwear!
Orange summoned his courage, turned the bathroom doorknob, and walked out, intending to head straight for his backpack.
But just as he reached the bed, he saw Nan Xi waiting there with a bouquet of roses.
Nan Xi looked nervous, as if he were preparing for something. But as soon as he saw Orange, the roses in his hand fell to the floor with a patter.
His eyes, however, stared straight at him. His gaze uncontrollably swept over the exquisite collarbones, the pale chest, the slender waist, and then further down…
Nan Xi couldn’t help but swallow.
He even wanted to immediately pull Orange over for a kiss.
Orange froze for a second before realizing he was naked. He was flustered, not knowing whether to cover his top or his bottom.
He could only glare huffily at Nan Xi. “Stop looking!”
It had zero deterrent effect; it was practically like he was acting spoiled toward the other.
Only then did Nan Xi snap out of it with a start. He quickly turned around and covered his own eyes. “Sorry!”
Orange scrambled to grab his backpack, found a pair of underwear to put on, and then pulled a T-shirt over his head. Only then did he cough and say to Nan Xi, “I’m decent.”
Nan Xi only gave a muffled “un” in response and didn’t turn around. His head was tilted slightly back, and his arm was raised—it was unclear what he was doing.
“What’s wrong with you?” Orange couldn’t help but worry. “Jian Yu? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Nan Xi’s voice sounded both muffled and strained, as if someone were pinching his nose and he could only speak through his mouth.
Orange grew even more worried. He immediately ran in front of Nan Xi, grabbed his shoulders, and turned him around.
But once he saw clearly, he realized Nan Xi just had a nosebleed.
Orange: “……”
Translator’s Note: Oh my god, Nan Xi! “Not like we haven’t slept together before” is such a scandalous thing to say in front of the whole team. In Chinese, “sleep together” (一起睡) can mean literally sleeping in the same bed/room, but it’s very often used as a euphemism for sex. Nan Xi’s “straight ball” is a bit too powerful! And the nosebleed is a classic anime/novel trope for when someone is… well, overly excited by a “scenic” view.
