The Straight Man Is A Heartthrob Again Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Date Falling Through

“Nothing…” Si Yao muttered, his ear closest to Chu Yang turning bright red.

In truth, the moment Chu Yang had entered the classroom in that outfit, someone had already let out a quiet “Crap.” He looked too alluring—the waist chains and the necklace gleaming with a silver light.

The black turtleneck underneath was form-fitting. As he moved, one could almost see the curve of his chest, and further down was a lean waist encircled by the chains, followed by those long, slender legs in black trousers.

And with the white trench coat over it all, it was just…

If Chu Yang was normally a “帅死人” (handsome enough to kill) in a casual way, today he had clearly dressed with intent.

He had a bit of a “渣男” (scumbag/playboy) vibe. If he had paired the look with a pair of silver-rimmed glasses, it probably would have been even more devastating.

Yet his deep, well-defined features were captivating enough whether they were partially obscured or not. If he really did wear glasses, people would only want to look at those eyes more—wanting to take them off him and touch the high bridge of his nose.

He hadn’t been wearing this outfit this morning. He must have an important date. With whom?!

A group of people realized this and began scanning the room, but their search yielded nothing. The only person who had also changed clothes and even done his hair was Si Yao, who was also wearing a trench coat and had several designer shopping bags by his feet.

Chu Yang dressed up like that for a date with a guy?? Crap! What has happened in just a few short months? It had to be said that the desire to turn him gay was beginning to stir in several hearts once more.

The professor entered to begin the lecture. Chu Yang put away his earphones and opened his textbook. His fingertips rested against the hot drink he’d brought, drawing in the warmth. Over time, his fingers turned a delicate pink.

Everything about him was attractive.

Si Yao kept stealing glances at him, his face growing redder by the second. He was in no state to focus on the lecture. With his face so flushed in the middle of winter, the professor found it a bit strange. After observing him for a moment, the professor concluded the student wasn’t sick—he was just infatuated with the handsome person sitting next to him.

The professor’s brow furrowed. He tapped the desk and looked at Si Yao. “The student on the far end of the seventh row, please stand up and answer this question.”

The students in the front rows let out a sigh of relief, while those in the back rows started peeking to see who it was.

Chu Yang looked at the row number on the desk, then glanced at Si Yao.

Si Yao met his gaze with shifting eyes. It was obvious he hadn’t realized what was happening. Chu Yang was about to remind him when the professor tapped the desk again.

“Student, stop staring at the handsome guy and answer the question.”

At the mention of “handsome guy,” everyone in the room instinctively looked toward Chu Yang. After counting the rows, they confirmed he was indeed in the seventh row. There was no doubt the professor was talking to Si Yao.

Chu Yang found himself making eye contact with countless people. He reached over and gave Si Yao a shove. “The professor called you.”

Si Yao finally realized what was happening and stood up abruptly. His face turned an even deeper shade of red. He looked from the blackboard to Chu Yang; he hadn’t heard a single word of the lecture.

Chu Yang raised his hand to cover half of his face.

Just as Si Yao was about to say he didn’t know the answer, the professor spoke up again. “Still looking? Is the answer written on his face?”

Si Yao frowned and said bluntly, “No. I don’t know the answer.”

Professor: “And you’re proud of it?”

“Sit down and pay attention.”

He then shot a glance at Chu Yang. Chu Yang was incredibly famous—the “dream lover” of the entire school. While the faculty didn’t take such things seriously, they all had an impression of him.

[Ahhhh, I’m done being reasonable! Who exactly is he going to see dressed that well?! I’m seriously losing it!!!]

[Who bought you those clothes? Who told you to style them like that?? You aren’t allowed to go out looking that alluring for others to see!]

[Omg, those waist chains… are they meant to lock his throat or my heart?]

[They’re swaying so much I just want to grab them, pin him against me, and ask: ‘Do you still dare to seduce me?’]

[Don’t do this to me, ahhhh. Is he going to see that girlfriend from last time? He must be. His outfit today is clearly different from before—he looks a bit more mature. That sister from last time was truly beautiful, ahhhh, I can’t accept this.]

[Impossible! That one from last time definitely wasn’t a girlfriend. He hasn’t gone out much lately, and he hasn’t even been playing ball as often. He’s clearly spending way more time in the dorm!]

[That’s only because it’s winter! Fine, even if they didn’t make it official then, the fact that he suddenly dressed up like this today makes me think it’s a done deal. Maybe they were just having a lovers’ spat before.]

[Whatever, at least he’s not dating me. Since he hasn’t officially announced anything, I’m going to tear his clothes off and lick every inch of him.]

[Goddammit, while you guys are still discussing relationship issues, I’m already planning to sneak over to the classroom door to take photos.]

[Hurry up and serve the main course for me! Right now! Thanks!]

[The proportions are too insane, ahhhh, even his roommate is blushing. LMAO. What’s the deal? You live in the same dorm and you still haven’t seen enough?]

[Who could ever see enough? Not me. I want to kidnap him and keep him as a dress-up doll at home ^^]

[Miracle Little Sheep, I’m going to do things to you.]

[I really want to see him wearing glasses while… sweat from the bridge of his nose drips onto my chest. That would be the ultimate level of sexy.]

[Hubby, you have the face of a heartbreaker. Can you please just put that face to work and play with me? Otherwise, you’re doing those looks a disservice. I’m going to throw a tantrum…]

[Hubby Yang, please hurry up and break my heart. I want to be devastated. I want to lose weight from the sheer heartbreak!]

[Upstairs, you’re trying to have your cake and eat it too! I want that too! Get in line!]

[Okay, he’s definitely not going out with a girl. The professor just called the roommate up to answer a question and we saw he’s also wearing new clothes—and a trench coat!]

[Omg, you dead gay, stop trying to steal my husband. I’m sitting in the back row watching him blush at my husband. Thank god my husband is straight.]

[Everyone is watching like a hawk. But if he’s just going out for a meal with Si Yao, I’m relieved. Hubby won’t take an interest in him (twiddles fingers).]

[LMAO. Look at that idiot who didn’t know anything when the professor called on him. He didn’t even know he should stand up. Could my male god ever take an interest in that?]

[Stop trying to lower my male god’s family genes…]

[I’m going to go stake out the exit and see if he leaves with his roommate after class!]

As soon as the two lectures ended, Si Yao picked up his bags and followed Chu Yang. “Are we going now?”

“Mm.” Chu Yang looked at the bags in his hand. “Are you taking those clothes home… or back to the dorm?”

Si Yao: “Home.”

Chu Yang: “Okay.”

The two headed to the parking lot. Chu Yang opened the trunk for Si Yao to put his things inside. Si Yao stole a few glances at him, his heart as sweet as honey. He climbed into the passenger seat feeling blissfully happy.

His head was in a whirl. There was a pleasant fragrance inside the car. He watched as Chu Yang gripped the steering wheel and drove out, his heart pounding in his chest.

In truth, although they were in the same dorm, they had never been that close. He had almost never had the chance to sit in the passenger seat of Chu Yang’s car. He felt as if he were the first.

Si Yao couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild. Why was Chu Yang suddenly being so nice to him? Was it a hint?

The car stopped at the school gate. After half a minute, Si Yao asked, “What is it? Did you forget something?”

“No.” Chu Yang sent a message to Ji Zhenyi before explaining to Si Yao, “There are two more people joining us for dinner.”

“Who?” At this point, Si Yao was still happy.

Until he heard Chu Yang say: “Ji Zhenyi, from the Art Department. You probably don’t know her.”

The moment the words left his mouth, Si Yao’s hands clenched into tight fists and his entire body went rigid. How could he not know who Ji Zhenyi was? Ever since Chu Yang had carried her and then driven her home, everyone had been on edge, terrified that Chu Yang might actually end up with her.

After a long period of suspense, seeing that they hadn’t maintained contact, everyone had gradually relaxed.

And now! Si Yao was so angry he felt like he was going to explode. He had thought Chu Yang was asking him on a solo date and that he had dressed up because he valued the occasion. But instead!

Chu Yang did value the occasion, but it wasn’t because of him—it was because of Ji Zhenyi!

What was the point of asking him along then? Was he just there to fill a seat, or had Chu Yang realized his feelings and brought him along to make him give up?

In your dreams!

Si Yao’s back molars were clenched tight. He gripped his seatbelt, his expression dark, yet he made no move to get out of the car. He knew that if he threw a fit now, Chu Yang would simply tell him to leave.

He restrained himself until Ji Zhenyi and another girl appeared at the gate. Before he could even say anything sarcastic, Chu Yang opened the door and stepped out to greet them.

“Crap!” Si Yao slammed his fist against the seat. His eyes were red as he watched Chu Yang walk toward Ji Zhenyi.

The white trench coat fluttered slightly in the breeze. Chu Yang walked quickly with long strides.

Watching his silhouette, Si Yao’s anger began to fade slightly. He was exactly the type of person who, after a fight with a partner, would slap his own face for being wrong after seeing his partner’s face.

But his mood soured again when his gaze shifted to the smiling Ji Zhenyi. While her expression was composed, the girl next to her was clearly flushing with excitement, her hand clutching tightly at Ji Zhenyi’s sleeve.

Their motives were clear as day!

Ji Zhenyi said something to Chu Yang, and he let out a soft laugh. He shifted his body to block the wind as the three of them walked toward the car together.

He was the perfect gentleman. Even Si Yao had to admit they looked a bit like a match.

His eyes were red with fury. He was almost certain now that Chu Yang had only brought him along because he was embarrassed to eat with them alone. He was just a tool, a shield! He had only been invited as an afterthought!

Looking down at his new clothes, he felt like a total clown.

Chu Yang opened the back doors for the two girls. He got back into the driver’s seat and was just about to pull on his seatbelt when he heard Si Yao sniffle.

Chu Yang looked over. “…?”

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Chu Yang asked with a frown. Si Yao’s state looked all wrong. He had been fine a moment ago, but now his face was deathly pale and his eyes were bloodshot, as if he had just suffered some catastrophic blow.

Ji Zhenyi also looked at Si Yao. “Should we go to the hospital first? You don’t look very well.”

Si Yao instantly abandoned his plan to seek pity from Chu Yang. He gritted his teeth and said, “I’m fine. I can eat.”

He would never let anyone deprive him of the chance to have dinner with Chu Yang!

“…” Chu Yang frowned and looked at him again before doing something Si Yao never expected.

Chu Yang pressed the back of his hand… against Si Yao’s forehead…

The color rushed back into Si Yao’s pale face with such speed it looked like he was having an attack.

Ji Zhenyi and Chu Yang exchanged a look, both becoming even more concerned.

Seeing their reaction, Si Yao pursed his lips and pulled at Chu Yang’s slender, pale wrist to bring his attention back. “I’m fine. I want to eat.”

Chu Yang looked at him. “…Alright.”

He assumed Si Yao just didn’t want to lose face in front of the two girls. They headed to the restaurant Ji Zhenyi had recommended.

Because he had brought Si Yao along, Chu Yang had intended to pay for everyone. He had already pre-booked the private booth. He let the server lead Ji Zhenyi and her friend inside while he stopped at the front desk to ensure they would wait for him to settle the bill.

Then he turned to Si Yao. “Let’s go.”

Si Yao: “What?”

He was dazed for a moment, followed by a surge of shock and joy. Surely Chu Yang wasn’t going to get a separate room just for the two of them??

Chu Yang: “To the hospital.”

Si Yao: “Crap!”
