【Orange × Nanxi】 He is My Xia Xia Alone
Nanxi was not a man of many words, so his public announcement post was quite simple.
He posted the update to his WeChat Moments right in front of Orange, repeatedly checking with him to make sure the wording was okay.
Furthermore, he even registered Orange’s fingerprint into his phone. He didn’t quite know how to be in a relationship, but he was willing to learn for Orange’s sake, wanting to give him the greatest sense of security possible.
He even took the time to write a serious love letter—a full page of heartfelt words tucked into an envelope and hidden inside a large box of candy given to Orange.
Orange felt shy just reading it. They were both adults, not students in school anymore, yet he was actually receiving a handwritten love letter.
But his heart was brimming with joy; he had finally reached a “happy ending” with the person he loved.
Orange pressed a light kiss against the envelope of the love letter before carefully tucking it away into his drawer.
Nanxi’s Moments post caused quite a stir among the professional players. Though many were shocked, the majority of people left comments wishing them “99.”
If Orange hadn’t stopped him, Nanxi would have likely gone straight to Weibo to announce their relationship to the world.
After all, the season wasn’t over yet. Going public on such a massive scale could easily trigger a storm of public opinion. Besides, Orange always felt that a relationship was a matter between two people; as long as they were happy, that was enough.
Wen Ran’s video call came later that day.
“Not bad, An Chenxia. You get into a relationship and you don’t even tell your father?”
“I was planning to tell you after your matches were over,” Orange replied in a gentle tone. “I just hadn’t found the time yet.”
Wen Ran didn’t bother hiding his gossiping heart. “The person you said you liked before… it really was Nanxi?”
Orange hummed in affirmation, his ears turning red instantly. “It’s him.”
Wen Ran teased him deliberately, “Tsk tsk. An Chenxia, have you looked at yourself? Do you see how bashful you look right now?”
“Do I?” Orange looked at his reflection in the video call and touched his face. “Don’t I always look like this?”
“Drop the act. No one knows a son better than his father. You think I can’t tell? You look like you can’t wait to move in and be his little wife.” Wen Ran tapped away on his phone. “But Nineteen is a decent guy. I’ll send you a red envelope; remember to claim it in a bit.”
Orange felt touched. Wen Ran might have a poisonous tongue, but he clearly cared about him.
However, when he opened the red envelope, a massive “0.01” sat right in the center.
[Orange: …]
[Orange: I’m impressed you actually went through the effort of tapping the screen to send that.]
[Wen Ran: Paternal love is boundless. Don’t mention it.]
Orange: “…”
Orange and Wen Ran chatted for a few more minutes until Wen Ran mentioned he had to go play Peak Tournament matches.
Orange hadn’t eaten dinner yet and was feeling a bit hungry, so he decided to go out and find a snack.
He pulled open the refrigerator door and found a chocolate ice cream bar. He had just torn open the wrapper and taken a bite when Nanxi’s voice came from behind him.
“Baby, what are you doing here?”
Orange nearly choked on his ice cream at the address. He hurriedly tried to change the subject. “I wanted an ice cream. Do you want one?”
Nanxi hummed an acknowledgment. He stepped forward, grabbed Orange’s wrist, and took a bite of the ice cream right where Orange had just bitten it.
“Mm, very sweet.”
An indirect kiss…
Orange’s face flushed several shades darker. “And you? What are you doing here?”
“Looking for you,” Nanxi said softly. “Baby, just now…”
Before Nanxi could finish, a mocking voice called out from the side, “Baby, can you get me a can of Coke?”
“Baby, I want one too!”
The Mid-laner and Top-laner were there, winking and nudging each other, their faces written over with pure gossip.
Orange’s face turned scarlet instantly. To be watched by his teammates while in a relationship was bad enough, but for them to mimic his boyfriend’s nickname for him?
This was too humiliating!
He wished he could find a hole in the ground to crawl into.
Orange was about to turn around and get them their Cokes just to get rid of these two trolls, when Nanxi’s voice rang out beside him.
“Who are you calling?”
The Top-laner already sensed that something was wrong, but the Mid-laner hadn’t yet caught the scent of danger. He spoke up recklessly, “Calling Cheng-bao, of course! Baby~”
The Top-laner secretly tugged on the Mid-laner’s sleeve, frantically signaling him to reign it in.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Nanxi’s eyes swept over the Mid-laner with an icy glare. “Do you not have a partner of your own? Is that why you like calling other people’s partners like that?”
The single-dog Mid-laner felt like he had just taken ten thousand points of critical damage. “Captain, you…”
Nanxi: “What about me? You have extra training tomorrow.”
Mid-laner: “??!”
The Mid-laner’s eyes brimmed with tears. “Don’t, Captain! I was wrong! An Chenxia is your baby, your wife, okay? Sob, I’ll stop talking!”
The Top-laner patted him on the head with pity. “Of all people to provoke, you chose the Captain. You really don’t know when to quit.”
He then reached in and took the two remaining cans of Coke from the fridge. “I don’t think you’re in the mood for Coke anymore. I’ll take these and give one to Xingchen.”
Mid-laner: “…”
What a poisonous couple!
Orange didn’t even know how he managed to get back to his room. Everything that had just happened was so awkward it made his skin crawl just thinking about it.
He hurriedly changed the subject. “What were you going to say earlier?”
Nanxi’s voice was unreadable. “Wen Ran contacted me.”
Orange’s heart tightened instantly. He didn’t know what Nanxi meant by that.
Although he believed in Nanxi’s character and knew he wouldn’t do something like two-timing, Nanxi’s sudden mention of it still made him nervous.
He could only give a vague hum in response.
“He said that I have to treat you well, or else he’ll beat me up.”
Orange’s heart finally settled back into his chest.
He asked in a soft, mushy voice, “And you? What did you say?”
Nanxi walked over and pulled Orange into an embrace, one hand resting on his waist. “I said that babies are meant to be pampered. Wen Ran said I was being cheesy.”
Orange: “? You really said that?”
Nanxi pulled up his chat history and handed the phone directly to Orange.
[Wen Ran: Nineteen, congrats on getting together with our Cheng-bao.]
[Jian Yu: Mm, thanks.]
[Wen Ran: If you dare treat him badly, I definitely won’t let you off.]
[Jian Yu: I won’t. I like him very much. Besides, aren’t babies meant to be pampered? I couldn’t bear to see him sad.]
[Wen Ran: ? Nineteen, are you even the Nineteen I know? How did you suddenly become so cheesy?!]
[Jian Yu: Did I say something wrong?]
[Wen Ran: …]
[Wen Ran: 6]
Nanxi still found it strange and asked Orange, “Baby, wasn’t I just telling the truth?”
Orange cringed so hard his toes were curling. To be able to leave the sharp-tongued Wen Ran speechless meant Nanxi was, in a way, quite formidable.
He decided he needed to correct Nanxi. “Jian Yu, I want to tell you something.”
“Mm, go ahead.”
“Even though I know your nickname for me is out of affection, like calling me ‘Baby’…” Orange started, his lips pouting slightly without him realizing it. “But, maybe it’s better if you only call me that when it’s just the two of us?”
“It sounds a bit inappropriate when others hear it.”
“Besides, I’m older than you,” Orange added. “You really ought to be calling me ‘Gege’.”
Nanxi: “…”
Orange had initially thought that, given Nanxi’s personality, he might immediately call him “Gege” just to hear it. Instead, Nanxi acted as if he had automatically filtered that sentence out and said, “Then I’ll call you Xia Xia, okay?”
Orange hummed. Compared to the embarrassing “Baby,” this nickname was much more normal!
Just as he breathed a sigh of relief and sat down on the bed, Nanxi walked over, pressing right up against him. He leaned down, trapping Orange within his arms with an overwhelming sense of pressure.
His tone, however, was gentle and pitiable. “Xia Xia, we haven’t had a kiss today.”
No matter how much Orange liked him, he couldn’t handle being kissed like this every single day. Furthermore, Nanxi’s kissing skills had improved at a terrifying speed. With one deep kiss after another—Orange was a normal man, after all—how could he not have a reaction?
Several times he had felt his waist go weak from the kissing, and he would dizzily wrap his arms around Nanxi’s neck, almost ready to strip himself bare and offer himself up.
If he kept enduring like this, his body wouldn’t be able to take it.
“No,” Orange said, turning his head to the side. “Go back now, I want to sleep.”
“But as soon as I see you, I want to kiss you.” Nanxi leaned in toward Orange aggrievedly, their noses brushing, their breaths entangling.
His lips were already ghosting over Orange’s, yet he still asked seriously:
“Just one kiss, okay?”
Orange’s face was already scarlet. He grumbled, “You’re already kissing me anyway…”
“That just now didn’t count.” Nanxi tilted Orange’s chin up, leaned in with a tender kiss, and pressed his lips against Orange’s with extreme gentleness.
“You are their Cheng-bao, but you are my Xia Xia alone.”
Nanxi pulled Orange’s head toward him and kissed his forehead. “Goodnight.”
Orange hooked his finger through Nanxi’s. “Goodnight.”
The livestreaming platform had a monthly requirement for their broadcast hours. Orange usually played Peak Tournament or ranked matches. The person who appeared most frequently to duo with him in the stream used to be Wen Ran, but now it was Nanxi.
In this round, Orange was in the third slot and Nanxi was in the fifth. After banning heroes, Nanxi got up to go get some water.
Orange wanted to grind his hero’s power score, so he pre-selected a hero. The player in the first slot sent a “I’ll play Jungle” message and then asked for a help-swap.
First Slot: “Third slot, I’ll help you pick.”
Orange opened his mic. “It’s fine, you take your own hero.”
The First Slot went silent for a second, then his voice suddenly rose several octaves. “Cheng-bao, is that you?!”
Orange: “?”
“I’m Lu Yu’an! Do you still remember me?!”
Orange finally remembered that he had a streamer fan by that name.
He gave a polite hum. “Of course I remember.”
“Sob, Orange said he remembers me!” Lu Yu’an was ecstatic. “Everyone, my life is complete!”
“Then I’ll play AD this round!” How could Lu Yu’an miss this chance to be close to Orange? He immediately locked in an AD that synergized with Orange. “Cheng-bao, I’ll work hard to carry this round.”
“I’ll protect you!”
Nanxi had just returned with his water glass when he heard a male voice excitedly calling out “Cheng-bao” and promising to protect him.
Nanxi: ?
I only went out to get water for a minute, how did someone already try to steal my home?
