Popular Guide: S-Class Sentinels All Want to Monopolize Me Chapter 130

Chapter 130: A-Ning’s Assist

“This area is exactly at the geometric center of the four pollution zones. The frequency of the energy fluctuations is identical; we can basically confirm it’s the source.”

Right then, the bracelets of several Sentinels in the room began to vibrate one after another.

Mo Xiao tapped his bracelet; it was an emergency meeting notice from the White Tower Headquarters.

He glanced at the message and said to Su Tang:

“The Tower wants all team captains at the main conference room immediately. It looks like they’re deploying the operation.”

“Stay here. We’ll be right back.”

Yasuo pulled his clothes back on and prepared to leave with the other two. As an afterthought, he turned back to Su Tang.

“I saw the supply station people on my way back and had them set aside some snacks. A-Ning went to get them and should be here soon. This meeting won’t be short. If you get bored, keep A-Ning here to tell you some stories and keep you company.”

Su Tang offered a small smile.

“Alright. But shouldn’t you go change your clothes first?”

Yasuo was still wearing his torn combat uniform, stained with blood and dirt. Su Tang was worried he would soil his newly dressed wounds, so she suggested he change into a fresh set.

Yasuo looked down at his blood-stained uniform, a hint of disdain in his eyes, but he waved it off.

“It’s fine. I won’t have time to go back and change. It won’t be too late to do it after the meeting.”

He gave Su Tang a deep look before turning to catch up with Mo Xiao and An Se.

The door clicked shut, and the room fell silent, save for the faint hum of the medical equipment.

Su Tang walked to the door and watched the three figures vanish at the end of the corridor. Her heart felt strangely hollow.

A red core area, expanding pollution zones, eerie red mist…

These words circled in her mind, making her brow furrow.

She couldn’t help but think of her Sea Moon Jellyfish. Why could her jellyfish easily devour this red mist that the Sentinels found so incredibly troublesome?

Was she the only one who could do this?

She began to wonder if the red mist only affected Sentinels and had less of an impact on Guides. Could a Guide’s mental power easily disperse it?

Then, she remembered the burning pain she felt through her mental threads when they touched the red mist while she was clearing Zhan Ye. She quickly suppressed that thought.

If it could be dispersed, her mental power could have done so while she was channeling for Zhan Ye. She wouldn’t have had to go through all that trouble to vent it through that place.

Su Tang let out a long sigh. Thinking of it this way, her mental entity really was unique.

Knock, knock, knock—

The sound at the door interrupted her thoughts.

“Guide Su Tang, it’s me. Are you inside?”

A-Ning’s crisp voice came from outside.

Su Tang opened the door to see A-Ning holding a large supply crate, a shy smile on her face.

“Captain Yasuo just contacted me. He asked me to bring these snacks to you and said I should stay with you for a while.”

“Come on in.”

Su Tang stepped aside to let her in. Looking at the crate full of various snacks, she couldn’t help but laugh. “He certainly knows how to give orders.”

A-Ning placed the crate on the table, her eyes bright as she looked at the necklace around Su Tang’s neck.

“Guide Su Tang, your necklace is beautiful. The material looks like an energy ore. Did Captain Yasuo give it to you?”

She remembered their captain also had many such ores.

Su Tang instinctively touched the crystal pendant and shook her head.

“No, it was a… a friend.”

At the mention of Zhan Ye, a wave of warmth rose in her heart. She wondered if that guy was behaving himself in confinement. Since the Tower had called the captains to a meeting, Zhan Ye would likely get word of it too.

“Well, whoever gave it to you, it looks wonderful on you, Guide Su.”

A-Ning had heard from her captain that Guide Su didn’t like things too sweet. She rummaged through the crate and eventually pulled out a bag of nuts to hand over.

“Guide Su, don’t worry. Captain Yasuo and the others will definitely find a way. Even though those new pollution zones are bizarre, our White Tower Sentinels are all super strong. Dealing with them will be a piece of cake.”

Seeing the cheerfulness in the young girl’s expression, the weight in Su Tang’s heart lifted slightly. She took the nuts and smiled.

“You’re right. You are all very impressive.”

As soon as Su Tang spoke, A-Ning burst into a giggle. She tossed a nut shell into the trash with a practiced flick. Though her face was slightly flushed, her eyes were shining.

“I actually think you’re more impressive, Guide Su. Our captain was so severely polluted last time, yet you cleared it for him just like that. I still think Guide Su is the most impressive one.”

A-Ning leaned in closer, her knees almost touching Su Tang’s chair. Her tone was full of unshielded admiration.

“Guide Su, you have no idea. Last time with Captain Yasuo, a death sentence had basically been passed, but you restored him with just half an hour of channeling. To me, you’re like a pillar of stability.”

With Guide Su around, she no longer had to worry about her captain suddenly collapsing. With their captain there, Team 5 wouldn’t return with a pile of corpses every time they went on a mission, and they wouldn’t have to experience the pain of life-and-death partings again.

It was so good to have Guide Su here.

A-Ning stared at Su Tang with a smile.

Su Tang was a bit embarrassed by her blunt praise. She picked up a nut and gently peeled the shell.

“That’s because Captain Yasuo has strong willpower himself. He was fighting the pollution with everything he had; I only helped a little.”

“It wasn’t a little help!”

A-Ning retorted immediately, her small face full of earnestness.

“I know you don’t want others to know about this, Guide Su, so none of us have spoken about it publicly, but we all know it in our hearts.”

She suddenly remembered something and dug through the crate to find a box of elegantly packaged cookies, presenting them like a treasure.

“Guide Su, try these. They’re whole wheat nut cookies. These are incredibly rare; there are only two boxes in the entire White Tower. They aren’t too sweet or greasy. The captain intercepted the supply station’s path and specifically had them save these.”

Hearing A-Ning say this, Su Tang’s heart was moved.

She took a small bite. The rich aroma of nuts mixed with the scent of wheat bloomed on her tongue; the flavor was indeed just right.

In this environment, such things were truly an excessive luxury.

Seeing Su Tang look satisfied, A-Ning breathed a secret sigh of relief and glanced inadvertently at the necklace hanging from Su Tang’s neck.

Thankfully she was quick-witted. Still, her captain was something else—compared to a necklace that could stabilize a Guide’s spirit, snacks were a total loss.

It was lucky she was clever and thought of these cookies, otherwise her captain would have lost this round entirely.

Although she didn’t know who had sent the necklace, she could take a good guess. It was likely one of the other Sentinel captains.

Guide Su was so popular in the White Tower. Their captain hadn’t known Su Tang as long as Captain Mo, nor was he as silver-tongued as Captain Zhan, and now he couldn’t even match Director An Se’s advantage of proximity. If he was also beaten in the gift-giving department, it would be too pitiful.
