Chapter 15: Xiongzhu
“Xiongzhu, he is a Major General of the military.”
The Sub-female following Pete quietly tugged at his sleeve, pointing to the rank on Lan Ze’s shoulder.
Realizing he had hit a snag, Pete finally began to take Yan Mo and Lan Ze seriously.
Asking him to apologize to an undifferentiated Male was impossible.
He angrily slapped the Sub-female and cursed: “Lowly insect, why didn’t you say so earlier?!”
The Sub-female clutched his face, trembling in silence.
The scene froze for a moment.
The spaceport employee quickly came out to play mediator.
“Lord, the military starship is heading for an inspection of the garbage planet; it will not stop at Planet Cangnan. We have contacted the higher-ups and decided to dispatch an extra interstellar flight to Planet Cangnan. News just arrived that the supplementary starship is about to depart. Please have some coffee in the VIP lounge; we will immediately arrange for you and your attendants to board.”
Pete was given a way out, and his expression softened slightly.
“Since you are being so sincere, lead the way. I might consider not filing a complaint with the Male Protection Association.”
Pete turned to leave, surrounded by his several attendants, preparing to head to the VIP lounge.
“I said, apologize to my Xiongzhu.”
Lan Ze’s cold voice rang out from behind.
The spaceport employee, who had just breathed a sigh of relief seeing the matter nearly resolved, felt like his head was about to explode upon hearing Lan Ze’s voice.
Insect God above!
He let out a cry in his heart and quickly stepped in front of Lan Ze, lowering his voice.
“Major General Lan Ze, threatening a Male Lord is not something a good Female should do. Surely your own Male Master would not wish to see you questioned by the Male Protection Association.”
Lan Ze looked toward Yan Mo. The Male had a calm expression, maintaining his usual gentle attitude.
Lan Ze suddenly snapped back to reality. Seeing him like this, would Lord Yan Mo feel dissatisfied?
Yan Mo took Lan Ze’s hand. He disliked Pete’s behavior, but the spaceport employee was right. In this Zerg world, regardless of whether Lan Ze was right or wrong, the Male Protection Association would side with the Male. Yan Mo didn’t want Lan Ze to be punished because of a piece of trash like Pete.
“Let’s go. Major General Saiensi and the others are waiting.”
Lan Ze naturally listened to Yan Mo, only casting a glance at Pete as they left.
The combat power of an S-rank Female was beyond doubt.
In an instant, Pete felt as if he were being stared at by the most powerful interstellar beast. His hair stood on end, and he fled in a panic with his several attendants.
The storm seemed to have subsided, yet no one noticed that not far away, a Female dressed in aristocratic attire was watching it all unfold.
Looking at the retreating backs of Lan Ze and Yan Mo, the corners of his lips curved up.
“Lan Ze, Lord Yan Mo, why are you just getting here?”
Saiensi had been waiting on the starship with a squad of soldiers for a while.
Seeing Lan Ze’s cold face, he froze for a second and asked, “Did something happen?”
Yan Mo smiled. “It’s nothing. We just ran into a bit of trouble on the way over.”
He didn’t intend to let what just happened ruin the mood.
“Major General Saiensi, thank you for letting me accompany the army to Planet 1347. I’ve caused you trouble.”
Saiensi laughed. “It’s nothing, Lord. You are being too polite. Lan Ze is the one responsible for protecting you; we haven’t done much.”
As he spoke, Saiensi winked at Lan Ze, signaling him not to keep such a cold face.
Yan Mo looked toward Lan Ze with a smile.
Lan Ze took Yan Mo’s hand and led him to a seat. He said to Saiensi, “Go and bring me the medical kit.”
Saiensi asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? Is Lord Yan Mo injured?”
Handing the medical kit to Lan Ze, Saiensi looked at Yan Mo. If Lan Ze were injured, he would never ask for a medical kit. Thanks to the terrifying recovery power of S-rank Females, Lan Ze never needed treatment as long as he could still walk.
Lan Ze spread Yan Mo’s palm across his knee. He took a tube of white ointment from the kit and applied it to the red mark.
Actually, Yan Mo didn’t feel much pain; it was just a burning sensation. As soon as Lan Ze applied the ointment, his palm felt a wave of coolness. Before long, the red mark faded away.
Yan Mo curiously observed the ointment in his palm.
The effects of Zerg medicine were truly excellent.
Seeing that Yan Mo remained silent, Lan Ze thought he was blaming him for being too reckless earlier.
“Lord? Do you feel I have embarrassed you?”
Yan Mo helplessly put down the ointment, wondering what kind of wild thoughts Lan Ze was having.
“No! You did very well!”
Yan Mo felt that Lan Ze seemed a bit too insecure; he should praise him more in the future. He was clearly so outstanding.
“Is that so?” Lan Ze lowered his head and murmured, “I just threatened that Male Lord. Do you not think I was in the wrong?”
Males were extremely concerned with their “face.” Even though Yan Mo had some conflict with Pete just now, Lan Ze had threatened a Male in front of Yan Mo. He wasn’t sure if Yan Mo would find him too uncouth.
Most Males tended to stick together.
Yan Mo shook his head. “I don’t think you were wrong. It was that Male’s fault; he came looking for trouble first. We couldn’t just swallow our pride. However, he didn’t gain anything, so there was no need for you to risk threatening him.”
After all, this was not an equal world.
The Male Protection Association stood on the side of the Male. Since the Association couldn’t be changed, one had to learn to avoid risks.
Seeing that Yan Mo truly didn’t think he had offended a Male’s dignity, Lan Ze’s heart felt as if it were soaring with the starship.
Lord Yan Mo truly had not disappointed him.
“However…” Yan Mo changed his tone and looked at Lan Ze with a serious expression.
Lan Ze froze, nervously waiting for Yan Mo’s next words.
Is Lord Yan Mo still going to scold me?
Seeing Lan Ze lower his eyelids in an aggrieved manner, Yan Mo couldn’t help but let out a successful smile.
He whispered softly into Lan Ze’s ear: “Back there in front of Pete, what did you call me?”
Lan Ze’s eyes widened. Recalling the address he had used, a blush spread across his face.
He had called him Xiongzhu.
Yan Mo had learned that Zerg partners call each other Xiongzhu (Male Master/Husband) and Cijun (Female Monarch/Wife).
This was no different from “Husband” and “Wife” on Earth; it was undoubtedly an intimate address representing a marital relationship.
Because the Zerg couldn’t find Yan Mo’s relatives, Lan Ze had become his guardian, but this was very different from the guardianship Yan Mo knew.
A Male’s entire life was protected by Females. Therefore, a Male’s future Cijun or Cishi (Female Attendant) bore the responsibility of protecting and caring for him.
According to Zerg rules:
Lan Ze would marry Yan Mo after his secondary differentiation and become his partner. Therefore, there was nothing wrong with Lan Ze calling Yan Mo Xiongzhu.
It was just that he hadn’t been familiar with Yan Mo before and had no intention of maintaining the guardianship. Calling a stranger Xiongzhu had been too difficult for him.
Hearing Yan Mo tease him about the address, even though Lan Ze no longer rejected becoming Yan Mo’s Female, he was still incredibly shy.
He looked up toward Yan Mo.
The chill in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a surge of tenderness. He cast a pleading glance at Yan Mo before quickly looking away.
He looked as if he were being bullied by someone.
Yet, Yan Mo still wanted to tease him.
“I didn’t hear clearly just now. Why don’t you call me that again?”
