Chapter 59: Was the Other Man Going to Sell Him to Yu Peishang?
Yu Xiuqing knew exactly what he was looking at. His tall frame blocked the man’s line of sight as he made a gesture of invitation:
“Xiaoshu, please leave. Do not step foot in the Yu manor again. Moreover, Grandfather is elderly and has a heart condition; he cannot withstand your repeated threats.”
“As expected of Yu Jinglin’s son. Truly filial.”
Yu Peishang let out a cold laugh, his tone mocking. He tilted his chin up, gesturing toward the youth peeking out from behind the piano on stage. A spark of interest ignited in his eyes:
“That little beauty. I want him.”
Yu Xiuqing’s expression changed instantly. The smile in his eyes froze into ice. He gritted his teeth and said, “He is my person.”
This sentence only made Yu Peishang more interested.
Very few things could make his cruel, cold-blooded little nephew show such an intense expression of possessiveness.
It seemed that youth truly was different.
It was just a pity that the boy knew secrets he shouldn’t know; he couldn’t allow him to remain in the Yu family.
Seeing this man staring so fixedly at his small pet, Yu Xiuqing frowned with displeasure.
“Don’t get any ideas about him.”
The warning was delivered slowly through thin, cold lips. Yu Xiuqing’s voice was as freezing as frost, sounding as if it came from the depths of hell, making one’s blood run cold.
He disliked others coveting his things; even an extra glance felt like an open desecration.
Yu Peishang tilted his head and smiled. The smile was unreadable, and he didn’t care about the other’s dark expression in the slightest:
“I know he’s a twenty-billion-yuan toy you bought. But he’s caught my eye now. If you give him to me, I’ll drop my demand for the Yu Group shares.”
“Heh… only Xiaoshu could say something so preposterous. It’s truly admirable.”
Yu Xiuqing mocked him coldly.
He took a long step back. His authoritative, freezing eyes were bloodshot as he stared at the man:
“Listen well, Yu Peishang. I won’t give you Shen Yuan, nor will I give you the Yu Group shares. You’d best give up on that idea. If you want to play hardball, I’m ready anytime.”
This was, without a doubt, a declaration of war.
A northern business tycoon and a southern industrial giant—the friction between them was enough to evaporate all the moisture in the city.
The surrounding people looked on, whispering to one another.
“Is that the newly risen business giant? He looks so young, but his aura is incredible.”
“Of course. Master Yu’s ruthless methods are second to none, even among the craftiest old foxes.”
“But who will win this time?”
No one had the answer to that question.
A wave of frigid pressure from the man swept past his ears. Although Yu Peishang stood as firm as a mountain, the coldness felt like it was seeping from his very marrow.
He finally realized that the other was no longer the boy who had been locked in that dungeon over ten years ago.
Yu Peishang felt a strong sense of crisis. A few drops of sweat beaded on his forehead as he countered, “So my little nephew wants to force a change in the southern market?”
“You’re wrong. You mentioned earlier that you’ve suffered business losses. I imagine you no longer have the economy or capital to contend with the Yu Group, unless Xiaoshu wants to gamble everything on a single throw.”
Every word from Yu Xiuqing struck Yu Peishang’s current weakness. But he didn’t continue to press; instead, he softened his tone, as if giving the other an out:
“Oh, by the way… I wonder if there is one person who could make Xiaoshu give up this pointless business war?”
Hearing this, Yu Peishang was stunned. He couldn’t help but wonder—if the other was so certain he would give up the Yu Group shares for this person, could it be…
Impossible. That person had been missing for three years.
No one knew if he was dead or alive.
He had spent so much effort searching without success; how could he suddenly appear at the Yu family old residence?
Yu Xiuqing was a man who could never be trusted.
His personality wasn’t at all like his righteous father; he was more like a malignant tumor.
“Is Xiaoshu interested?”
Yu Xiuqing looked at him with amusement, a cunning light flashing in his eyes as if he were eagerly awaiting a response.
Yu Peishang didn’t like playing games with him, fearing a trap. He said coldly, “Bring him out.”
“Go. Bring him.”
Yu Xiuqing signaled to his personal bodyguard. The other nodded immediately and turned toward the crowd.
Yu Peishang’s gaze followed Qi Yunzhao closely, and his steady, powerful heart couldn’t help but tighten.
He saw Qi Yunzhao push through the dense crowd. With a few movements, he dragged the perfectly hidden Gu Lanxiao from the mass of people and forcibly brought him to the foot of the stage.
When he saw that man who was thick with a murderous aura, Gu Lanxiao went rigid. The color drained from his face. He instinctively tried to run, but he was held fast.
The mask that had been hiding his face was ripped away by Yu Xiuqing, revealing a clear but panicked face.
Yu Peishang was equally lost for a moment.
But he didn’t show it. Instead, he stared fixedly at the youth and asked with heavy emphasis, “You never went missing?”
Gu Lanxiao didn’t dare answer. As long as this man was near him—even with a distance between them—he would have a physical reaction of nausea and terror.
Likely it was because he had been locked in that cage three years ago and tortured until he wished he were dead that he had such a strong aversion now.
Seeing the person he had been thinking of day and night, Yu Peishang was nearly unable to control his emotions. He reached out to grab the youth’s trembling shoulder, wanting to pull him over.
But Yu Xiuqing suddenly slapped the arm away, signaling Qi Yunzhao to pull the person back slightly.
His body blocked half of Gu Lanxiao. His deep eyes curved into a slight smile as he said unhurriedly:
“If Xiaoshu wants the person, you must return my father’s original shares and inheritance in full. Furthermore, you are not permitted to step foot in the Yu manor ever again. Can you agree to that?”
Yu Peishang’s expression darkened instantly.
So the other not only wanted to force him to retreat but also wanted to take back the 20% shares he had seized back then!
He wanted to refuse directly, but for some reason, looking at the thin youth, he hesitated.
The guests couldn’t sit still. They found Yu Xiuqing’s sudden proposal unbelievable.
A mere nameless figure could make Master Yu demand such a massive price? And Yu Peishang might actually agree?
Gu Lanxiao was also filled with shock, listening in disbelief to every word that came from Yu Xiuqing’s mouth.
He forgot to struggle for a moment.
The other man was going to sell him to Yu Peishang?!
Thinking of the prison he had finally escaped and now having to return, Gu Lanxiao felt like he was falling apart. He burst into tears too late, twisting his arms:
“Yu Xiuqing! Are you insane?! I am not a bargaining chip in your trade! I do not agree to this!”
So the man had invited him to the birthday banquet through every possible means not to save his brother, but so that he too would be thrown into the fire to be burned to ash!
Yu Xiuqing completely ignored his resistance. Instead, he stared at Yu Peishang, seeing the plan in the man’s eyes. He curled his lips with disdain and reminded him:
“Has Xiaoshu finished considering? It would be very hard to steal someone away from me without being noticed.”
He knew the man’s obsession with Gu Lanxiao was almost like a demonic possession; there were many unspeakable feelings involved. Thus, using Gu Lanxiao as a trade was the most appropriate choice.
Yu Peishang didn’t give an immediate answer. He only stared dazed at the youth’s stubborn yet terrified face. Something uncontrollable seemed to be surging in his eyes.
Gu Lanxiao, held by the bodyguard, could feel the fire within the man—burning and endless, screaming to ignite him and turn him to ash.
No! The other man values power so much; how could he give up these things for an insignificant doctor like me? It’s a losing trade!
This is all just a bluff.
Gu Lanxiao comforted himself this way.
But in the next second, he heard Yu Peishang speak with total composure: “As long as you give me Gu Lanxiao, I will return your father’s inheritance and shares.”
Gu Lanxiao’s pupils shrank violently!
He froze entirely, staring at the man without blinking. The suppressed rage and tyranny in the man’s eyes were like invisible knives, stabbing him until he was riddled with holes!
Yu Peishang’s gaze fell on the youth’s tear-stained face. HeMeasured him with a light glance and said tenderly, “Don’t be afraid, Xiao Xiao. We’ll be going home soon.”
Gu Lanxiao bit his lip hard, his eyes red. He forced two words through his teeth: “You beast…”
“Xiaoshu is a straightforward man.”
Yu Xiuqing was in a good mood. He patted the bodyguard beside him. “Qi Yunzhao, the contract.”
Qi Yunzhao nodded, then pulled a file from his briefcase and presented it to Yu Peishang.
“If Xiaoshu has no objections, sign the contract now. After all, these things belonged to me in the first place.”
Yu Xiuqing tilted his chin up. He took two steps toward the man, leaning into his ear and laughing softly: “I believe Xiaoshu can’t wait to have his canary back in his arms.”
Having said that, he provocatively blew into the other’s ear before unhurriedly straightening his back.
Yu Peishang held the document, his knuckles trembling violently with rage. All his towering fury finally converged into a cold smile on his lips:
“It seems my little nephew had this planned all along, just to squeeze a deal out of me.”
The document at his feet that he had intended to use to seize the Yu Group shares seemed incredibly ironic compared to the contract in his hand. The mocking gazes from those around them fell like rain.
Yu Xiuqing slowly turned his ring, his expression one of innocence. “This was Xiaoshu’s choice—voluntarily giving up and returning my father’s assets for the sake of his beloved.”
“Heh, you brat.”
Yu Peishang’s eyes were cold as ice. He scanned the contents of the contract. After confirming it wouldn’t cause him any other losses, he quickly signed his name and tossed the file to him:
“Fine. Give him to me.”
Yu Xiuqing admired the signature on the contract with satisfaction before handing it to his bodyguard to put away. Only then did he pull Gu Lanxiao over and forcefully push him toward the other man.
Poor Gu Lanxiao had no defense and crashed straight into Yu Peishang’s broad chest, his head spinning. The man instinctively wrapped an arm around his slender, soft waist.
