Chapter 12 [This Celestial Beauty Tests His Skills]
The beautiful Omega actress’s forehead was covered in sweat, and her fair, clean hands were stained with dirt from foraging for wild vegetables. A smudge of dirt on her exquisite face didn’t detract from her beauty; instead, it highlighted her hard work.
The cameraman following her zoomed in for a close-up of her hands. It was hard to tell if the close-up was meant to magnify the wild vegetables she had dug up or her pretty, dirt-stained hands.
“Yuefeng, you’ve already boiled the water, you’re amazing! I’ll wash the wild vegetables right away and put them in to cook,” the actress said.
Seeing that she was already quite tired, Shi Yuefeng said gently and considerately, “I’ll wash them, you take a rest.”
He took the wild vegetables from the actress and crouched by the small stream to wash them. He quickly washed them clean and headed toward the large pot.
Everything appeared to be perfectly calm and peaceful.
Suddenly, a small stone the size of a fingernail shot out from the group of directors with extreme speed, aiming right for the back of Shi Yuefeng’s knee.
A glint flashed in You Yuanyuan’s eyes. The right hand crossed over his chest raised slightly in a tiny motion, and he flicked his fingertip. A similarly sized stone shot out with even greater speed and ferocity.
Just as the stone aiming for Shi Yuefeng’s knee was about to hit, it was forcefully intercepted by the stone that shot over from the other side, shattering into dust and scattering on the ground.
This all happened so quickly that no one around noticed the tiny detail. The director’s team was still earnestly observing the actions of the other celebrities. They couldn’t possibly imagine what would have happened if that stone had actually hit the back of Shi Yuefeng’s knee—would Shi Yuefeng have plunged face-first into the boiling pot?
Shi Yuefeng certainly wouldn’t have died, but his upper body would have suffered severe burns, requiring hospitalization. From then on, he would be physically disabled, bidding his acting career a permanent farewell.
The outside world would only assume it was an accident. His fans would be heartbroken but have nowhere to direct their resentment.
This method was truly vicious enough.
You Yuanyuan turned his head slightly, peering out from the edge of his sunglasses out of the corner of his eye. His cold, distant gaze was dark and profound as he looked toward the group of directors. The culprit was mixed in among those dozen or so people.
For the rest of the day, the assailant hiding among the director’s team didn’t make another move. It seemed they were wary of You Yuanyuan, fearful of being caught red-handed if they struck again.
However, You Yuanyuan had already seen through which company this bodyguard belonged to—Anyou Security Company, a B-grade Alpha bodyguard.
What was strange was that Shi Yuefeng’s sister hadn’t anticipated that Shi Yuefeng would hire him, You Yuanyuan. Dealing with this kind of small-time bodyguard’s amateur tricks was more than enough for him. Moreover, it seemed he had thoroughly frightened that little bodyguard, who kept a wide distance from him the entire time.
Perhaps after today, they would swap in a more capable bodyguard from his ex-husband’s company. But aside from his ex-husband, an S-grade Alpha, who else in Anyou Security Company could defeat You Yuanyuan?
Filming wrapped up shortly after six in the evening. You Yuanyuan and Shi Yuefeng returned to the nanny van.
The van had three rows of seats, and You Yuanyuan and Shi Yuefeng sat in the middle row. He picked up Shi Yuefeng’s right hand. There was a scratch on his thumb. He said, “You accidentally cut this when you picked up that rusty knife, didn’t you?”
Behind his sunglasses, his gaze wasn’t actually that cold.
Shi Yuefeng smiled gently. “Yes, it’s not a big deal.”
You Yuanyuan felt the wound was a bit deep. Releasing his hand, he took out a tetanus shot from the small pouch on his belt, deftly opened it, and injected Shi Yuefeng.
The series of actions was so fast that by the time the assistant beside them reacted, the needle was already in his flesh. In a panic, she tried to stop him: “What are you doing!”
Shi Yuefeng raised his hand to stop the assistant’s intervention, saying gently, “It’s fine, don’t worry. You is very careful and cautious; I trust him completely.”
By the time he finished speaking, You Yuanyuan had already finished the injection. He crushed the used syringe and threw it into the trash can.
Unable to say anything more, the assistant sat back in her seat, still shaken.
Shi Yuefeng looked at You Yuanyuan’s frosty profile, his gaze seeming as if it wanted to shatter those sunglasses. Yet his look was tender, a smile curling on his lips. “You, thank you for today. If it weren’t for you, I might already be in the hospital.”
You Yuanyuan’s eyes flickered slightly; he hadn’t expected Shi Yuefeng to actually notice. He replied, “No need to thank me, as long as the money is paid.”
At this, the assistant grumbled softly from the back, “He didn’t do anything at all, just held an umbrella. Anyone can do such a simple task. How much could it possibly cost to hire him for a day?”
She had no idea that the bodyguard Shi Yuefeng had hired wasn’t an ordinary small-time bodyguard, much less that the employment fee was 5 million for 24 hours. She simply felt this bodyguard was far too handsome, subconsciously assuming he was a useless pretty face.
Shi Yuefeng shot the assistant a warning glance, then reverted to his gentle demeanor, saying to You Yuanyuan, “You, I feel a great sense of security being protected by you. Can I hire you on an annual contract?”
“At my rate, you want an annual contract?” You Yuanyuan wondered what kind of filthy rich tycoon this was. Did being a star nowadays really pay that well?
Shi Yuefeng: “I do have the financial capability for it.”
You Yuanyuan blinked slowly. Zhou She had told him he couldn’t be hired on an annual contract, but he never said anything about a monthly contract. Thus, he said, “A monthly contract is the maximum.”
“Oh, I see. That works too.” Shi Yuefeng smiled.
You Yuanyuan didn’t think this wealthy family feud was all that complicated. All he had to do was find Shi Yuefeng’s sister, sit down, and have a good talk. They would reach a settlement very quickly. A monthly contract wouldn’t even be necessary.
So he said, “Let’s stick to a week for now.”
“Alright.” Shi Yuefeng’s smile grew even gentler.
By the time they returned to the city center, the sky was completely dark. You Yuanyuan escorted Shi Yuefeng back to his apartment.
As a bodyguard, he had to protect his employer 24 hours a day, which included accompanying them through every daily activity.
Shi Yuefeng’s assistant brought out a quilt and laid it by the door; You Yuanyuan needed to sleep by the door to protect his employer at all times.
At this moment, You Yuanyuan was scanning the living room when suddenly his phone rang. He pressed the button on his Bluetooth earpiece to answer, “Hello, Secretary Zhou.”
Zhou She’s voice came from the other end. “You Ye, are you busy right now?”
“Speak.” You Yuanyuan locked his gaze on a small ornament on the living room shelf, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Zhou She: “That little beast Xing Lie actually wants to move back in! He brought all his things over; I couldn’t stop him even if I tried. How about you call him and tell him to get lost?”
“Where is he sleeping?” You Yuanyuan walked a lap around and stopped behind the small ornament.
Zhou She: “The same place he used to sleep. That small bedroom on the second floor. When I went in, his bed was already made. He’s so fucking fast.”
“I think he’s throwing himself into the net—playing right into our hands.” You Yuanyuan picked up the small ornament, holding the little trinket between his jade-like fingers to inspect it.
Zhou She savored the meaning of his words, then said joyfully, “You Ye is truly brilliant! We’ll catch the turtle in the jar!”
Immediately, Zhou She lowered his voice and said, “Why didn’t I think of that? Right, if we want to collect his S-grade Alpha Glass Wood soothing pheromones, we have to lock him in a room. Isn’t this just perfect?”
The call ended.
You Yuanyuan exerted force in his hand, crushing the small ornament to pieces. Consequently, a pinhole camera was exposed.
The assistant jumped in fright; this small ornament was actually a disguised camera. She couldn’t help but look at You Yuanyuan with newfound respect. How did this person spot it with a single glance? Too impressive. She had initially thought he was just a pretty face, but now she couldn’t help but start admiring him.
You Yuanyuan continued to scan the living room, successively discovering three disguised cameras and a listening device disguised as a picture frame.
He placed all these items on the coffee table. Sitting on the sofa, Shi Yuefeng was pale-faced, staring blankly at the pile of objects.
You Yuanyuan’s eyes behind his sunglasses were mysterious and dark, though his voice wasn’t cold: “These aren’t necessarily all your sister’s doing. They could also be from fanatical fans. Take me to your bedroom.”
Shi Yuefeng lowered his eyes, obscuring the emotions within them. Having changed into loungewear, he appeared even gentler now, though his expression was somewhat low and depressed.
He led You Yuanyuan into the bedroom. The moment the door opened, the entire room smelled of Shi Yuefeng’s red wine pheromones. Drifting into You Yuanyuan’s nose, it was actually a bit intoxicating.
He hadn’t expected someone as gentle and approachable as Shi Yuefeng to have red wine pheromones. But as long as it wasn’t an S-grade Alpha, no other pheromone could affect You Yuanyuan.
He walked in, rapidly scanning the bedroom. He opened the wardrobe, then the nightstand, looked up at the ceiling, walked into the bathroom, and finally did a sweep of the balcony.
Then he walked back into the bedroom and threw the desk lamp, the potted plant, the water cup, and the small speaker from the bathroom all onto the floor.
The entire series of actions took less than three minutes. To him, this was child’s play.
Pointing at the things on the floor, You Yuanyuan said, “I don’t need to dismantle these, and I don’t need to say what’s inside them. Throw them away.”
Shi Yuefeng was completely pale, his gaze unfocused, and his legs seemed unsteady. You Yuanyuan reached out to support him. He knew the shock he suffered wasn’t small; after all, if an ordinary person found out there were so many pinhole cameras in their home—covering every angle—they would definitely feel even more lingering fear than he did.
With trembling hands, the little assistant took the items out to dispose of them.
You Yuanyuan could see that Shi Yuefeng was genuinely terrified. Unable to help but comfort him, he reached out and patted his shoulder. “It’s fine. It’s not like you’ve ever brought an Omega home to do anything anyway. There won’t be any indecent videos circulating online to ruin your clean reputation.”
Shi Yuefeng’s eyes were full of hurt. “I don’t know how they managed to do this.”
You Yuanyuan’s gaze was calm. “It’s very easy for your sister to have people come in and do this. However, obviously, it’s not just your sister; there must also be fanatical fans. But rest assured, everything has already been dismantled.”
Like a fragile child, Shi Yuefeng rested his head on You Yuanyuan’s shoulder. His body trembled, his eyes shut tightly, and he took deep breaths, exhaling heavily. He seemed to be using this method to vent the pain in his heart. Unknowingly, that red wine pheromone was released.
You Yuanyuan had an acute sense of smell. Although Shi Yuefeng’s pheromones had no effect on him and wouldn’t induce his heat, smelling too much of this red wine scent still made him dizzy.
Thus, he patted Shi Yuefeng’s shoulder again and said, “Rest early. Your assistant mentioned you still have to go to the set to film early tomorrow morning.”
With that, he turned to leave. Tomorrow wouldn’t be as simple as today.
From behind him, Shi Yuefeng said, “Could you sleep by my bed? Right now… I feel very unsafe. Did I ever tell you that as an illegitimate child, I never enjoyed the open and honest love of my parents? It was always secretive, hidden from the light. Every parent-teacher conference, the housekeeper went in their place. My dad didn’t want my mom to go, and he didn’t want me interacting with my mom either. I am so starved for love…”
You Yuanyuan looked back. Through his sunglasses, he saw Shi Yuefeng’s broken and powerless state. He felt that he had it even worse than Shi Yuefeng. Even though his parents were both around when he was a child, he had never felt loved by them. He was also very starved for love.
“I will stay by your bed.” You Yuanyuan compromised. He sat down just like that on the wooden floor by the bed, his back against the wall, one long leg bent and the other stretched out straight.
The eyes behind the sunglasses slowly closed.
Lying on the bed, Shi Yuefeng looked at You Yuanyuan. “Can you sleep like that?”
“I can sleep in any environment,” You Yuanyuan replied with his eyes closed.
Subsequently, the lights went out.
You Yuanyuan thought of his childhood. His mother, You Jingning, took the eight-year-old him into the wilderness to train his survival skills.
It was a desolate, barren mountain, completely devoid of human presence. During the day, thick fog covered the area, towering forests stretched as far as the eye could see, and the ground was covered in dead branches and rotting wood; there were no houses anywhere. At night, wild beasts prowled, and the air was bone-chillingly cold. He could hear the strange cries of various animals, and unknown bugs rustled under the decaying leaves.
During the day, he was walking in front, but when he turned around, his mother was gone. Panicking, he searched the fog-filled forest, shouting and calling out, but couldn’t find her. Even if he cried his lungs out, his mother wouldn’t appear.
He searched until evening but still couldn’t find her. He could only use stones to hunt birds in the trees, then sit by the tangled roots of a tree, light a fire, and roast the bird to eat. When he was thirsty, he lay by the mountain stream and drank the flowing water. When he was sleepy, he climbed a tree to sleep, but he would be harassed by bugs and snakes in the branches.
When he woke up the next morning, he didn’t need to look for his mother; she was waiting for him under the tree. However, her hands were covered in blood because she had brutally flayed a wild rabbit alive, saying, “This is your reward. Eat.”
Later on, he was trained to be able to sleep in trees, sleep standing up, sleep sitting down, and even sleep while soaking in water.
