Chapter 6: Females Cannot Be Spoiled Too Much
The trees in the primeval forest were already absurdly large, and these two were outstanding even among them. They grew near the water, making it very convenient to fetch water in the future, and the two trees were very close to each other.
Looking down from the sky on Ying’s back, Yu She figured they could build a bridge between the two trees. This way, they could build two houses, and he and Ying could each live on one side.
After deciding on the location for building the house, Yu She thought the next step was to draw an architectural blueprint. He had learned a little bit when scrolling through survival videos; he didn’t know if it would actually work, but there were only these two trees, so he had to plan it properly. But without pen and paper, how was he going to draw? Was he supposed to use a branch to poke the ground? That was too easily damaged; any passing animal would trample it away. He had to think of another way.
“Ying, stop on the tree.”
As for a pen… using a blackened branch should work, but what about paper?
“Ying, go pick a few large leaves.” He ordered Ying around without the slightest embarrassment.
Ying left in confusion. The female always did things he couldn’t understand, but that didn’t stop him from listening to him.
Ying was very fast. After a short while, he returned with a few massive leaves.
Yu She held onto Ying’s claw, had him take him back to the ground, picked up a branch of just the right thickness, and handed it to Ying.
The next second, the branch burst into flames. Now, he and Ying had a perfect tacit understanding. Some things didn’t need to be said aloud; Ying understood with just one gesture.
Yu She extinguished the fire with water, looked at the handsome face full of question marks, and clicked his tongue in his heart. Such a handsome humanoid lighter, only his Princess… bah! Prince She could possess.
Poking the leaves with the branch left marks as expected, but the leaves were too tender; they tore with just a little force.
He tossed the branch aside; it seemed leaves couldn’t be used.
He leaned against the tree trunk, recalling methods of making paper. A flash of inspiration hit him—paper was made from trees. Although paper couldn’t be made in a short time, they had trees! The trees here were so massive; wouldn’t it be fine to just chop a few thick branches and make them into wooden boards?
He did as he thought. After a brief consideration, he condensed an ice axe out of thin air. Practicing his abilities every day, he had improved a lot. The hardness of this ice was enough to cleave animal bones without a problem, so chopping a few branches was a piece of cake.
He tossed the axe to Ying, instructed him to chop a few branches, and then Princess She picked a cool, shady spot to… stay.
Stay… but not completely just stay. He recalled the treehouses he had seen before in his mind, conceptualizing how to build one. He was full of passion for this project; building a house with his own hands—just thinking about it gave him a sense of accomplishment.
Ying used his human body to drag the giant branches, looking as comical as a normal person dragging a dump truck.
Although the ice Yu She condensed was sharp and hard, it melted very quickly in the scorching summer. When Ying returned, only the handle was left in his hand. He made another one, and only then did they finally get a few neat wooden boards.
Over the next few days, Yu She forgot to sleep and eat as he doodled and drew on the boards. Occasionally, if he drew one spot wrong, the entire board was ruined, and he had to start over on a new one. Naturally, a branch wasn’t as easy to use as a real pen; sometimes it would stop leaving marks, and he would need Ying to light a fire on it again.
During this period, a torrential downpour occurred. The rain came very suddenly that night. Yu She was awakened by the sound of the rain and hurriedly shook awake the soundly sleeping Ying, whose arms were clamped tightly around him, telling him to quickly move the boards into the cave.
Since Yu She arrived in the primeval forest, it hadn’t rained once. He didn’t pay much attention when he left the wooden boards out. Although wooden boards weren’t afraid of water, he was afraid they would grow moldy after getting wet, ruining his original sketches.
When Ying was woken up, he was still dazed. Once he heard Yu She telling him to move those broken boards, his entire person overflowed with grievance, but he didn’t dare disobey. Dawdling, he was driven out of the tree hollow by Yu She.
The freezing rain beat against Ying’s wings, and he still had to protect those few broken wooden boards. On the way back, Ying thought about whether he should secretly throw them away. These past few days, the female only cared about playing with these broken pieces of wood and paid no attention to him. And now, in such heavy rain, he made him come get these broken things.
If… he secretly threw them away and said they were washed away by the rain?
Ying stopped in mid-air and fell into deep thought.
Never mind. The female worked so hard every day drawing something on them; he would be sad if they were lost.
Sigh~ Who asked him to be my female? What else could I do but let him have his way?
Thinking about it, Ying somewhat missed the female’s smooth body. He shook the water off his wings and sped up his flight back.
Yu She looked anxiously at the entrance of the cave. The sound of thunderstorms outside was loud. Why hadn’t Ying returned yet?
After a while, the familiar figure still hadn’t appeared at the cave entrance. He thought of that fierce wild beast from last time, and ultimately couldn’t put his mind at ease. Not wanting to wait idly any longer, he slid down the tree trunk and searched in the direction of his memory. But he forgot he had no sense of direction, and the trees in the forest all looked exactly the same. He hadn’t walked far before completely losing his way.
He looked blankly at the identical trees all around him, only then feeling a sense of panic. He didn’t dare wander around anymore, found a taller tree, and climbed up.
It seemed he could only hope for Ying to come find him.
The pattering sound of rain all around was accompanied by terrifying thunder and lightning in the sky. When lightning flashed, it made the branches look like they were baring fangs and brandishing claws, like ghosts crawling out of hell.
Yu She hugged his tail like one hugs their curled-up legs. He shouldn’t have run out by himself; he was so stupid. He didn’t know if Ying could still find him.
Amidst his fear, drowsiness gradually struck, and he actually unknowingly fell asleep.
On the other side, Ying returned to the tree hollow, found Yu She missing, and chased out to find him. The heavy rain had washed away many tracks, and Yu She’s size was small; he didn’t even catch a glimpse of his shadow all night.
Yu She didn’t seem to have been taken away; there were no signs of a struggle in the cave. That meant he went out on his own. Why would he run out in such heavy rain?
Ying was very confused. Yu She couldn’t have gone too far; he should be somewhere nearby. He had never seen any ferocious beasts around here, so he wasn’t too worried about his safety. But a whole night had passed, and he was afraid he was hungry. The female was so delicate and didn’t know how to hunt for himself; he had to find him quickly.
It rained all night without stopping, but it was lighter than in the evening.
Yu She slept quite comfortably. He stretched, sat up, and looked at the unfamiliar place, only then remembering that he was lost, and his mood grew a bit more depressed.
The sky was already bright. He thought about going down for a walk; what if he found a way back?
It had been too dark last night to notice the surroundings. After climbing down from the tree, he was blinded by a patch of golden yellow. He went over curiously.
“This… this is…”
This was actually a paddy field, and there were even a few fish swimming inside.
Yu She was momentarily overjoyed beyond words and couldn’t resist rushing over.
The golden ears of rice were heavy. He peeled off the outer husk and rolled the rice grain inside between his fingers, smiling so wide his eyes curved into crescents, completely forgetting his depression over being lost.
He was still immersed in the joy of having rice to eat in the future, oblivious to the fact that under the calm and unrippled surface of the water, a dark shadow was slowly approaching him.
By the time his sharp animal instincts sounded a warning, the monster had already leaped out of the water, opening its bloody maw wide as if to swallow Yu She in one bite.
The monster looked like a catfish and was incredibly fast. A foul-smelling wind blew against Yu She’s gentle and beautiful face, lifting his smooth white long hair. He thought he truly had an ill-fated life, frantically testing the edge of death every single day.
However, he didn’t plan on lying flat and waiting for death this time. If he died, it would truly be two lives lost in one body—there was still a big idiot waiting for him at home.
Yu She calmly looked at the hideous beast face. As long as it moved an inch forward, the sharp ice cones already formed underwater would break the surface, stab into its soft underbelly, and pierce its heart.
Just as Yu She silently estimated the range in his heart and was about to strike, he was pulled up by a massive force. In an instant, that fierce wild beast turned into a pile of black ash and dissipated in the wind.
His blue eyes widened to round circles, his mouth opened incredibly wide, so shocked that even his forked tongue slipped out.
Wait, where did that giant monster go? Why is it suddenly gone!
“If you ever run around wildly on your own again, I will tie you up.”
The severe pain coming from his shoulder blades instantly snapped Yu She back from marveling at Ying’s destructive power.
At this moment, Ying’s expression was extremely terrifying. The corners of his mouth were taut, his eyes gloomy, looking exactly like a ruthless wild beast.
No, Yu She forgot—he was a wild beast to begin with.
Ying forcefully gripped the delicate and beautiful female in front of him, whom he both loved and hated. When he had just arrived, that wild beast was pouncing on him. In that moment, he remembered the days he had lost him again, and the fear hidden deep within him once again enveloped his whole body.
Why did this female, who was clearly so weak, insist on running around blindly by himself?
If he hadn’t arrived in time, would he have already…
He didn’t dare to continue thinking about it, only tightening the grip of his hands.
Yu She felt extremely wronged in his heart too. For whose sake did he run out? But looking at Ying’s furious face, he ultimately didn’t dare to provoke him further. Moreover, this silly eagle was also worried about him.
He resisted silently with his eyes for a brief moment before finally yielding: “I’m sorry, I won’t do it next time.”
Pausing for a moment, he still explained: “You didn’t come back for so long, I was worried you encountered some danger… so… so I chased after you…”
Under Ying’s gaze, he felt less and less confident. After all, not knowing the way and getting lost was a fact, and causing trouble for Ying was also true. It was indeed his impulsiveness; he had taken things for granted.
“Don’t be angry anymore. I will definitely be inseparable from you from now on, I swear (fa si).”
Saying that, he even held up four fingers.
Although Ying didn’t understand what “fa si” meant, looking at the female’s expression, it should be a form of promise. Actually, when the female said he ran out for his sake, his anger had already dissipated by more than half, but he felt he couldn’t spoil the female like this anymore.
When would this female grow up into an adult? When his belly got big, he wouldn’t run outside anymore.
Looking at the beautiful female gripping his arm ingratiatingly, he decided he still needed to teach him a lesson.
“Ying, you’re squeezing me so hard it hurts, my bones are about to break, I really know I was wrong… mmpf…”
Before he could finish his words, his mouth was blocked. Staring blankly at the familiar face in front of him, he didn’t have time to react for a moment.
Yu She was much shorter than Ying. Ying had to bend down to bite onto this incessantly chattering mouth.
Beasts raised in the primeval forest didn’t know how to kiss; they just subconsciously tore and bit, sucking the fragile lips until they bled, then using their rough tongues to lick it away.
Yu She only felt his mouth hurting terribly, as if it had been cut open by a blunt object and then polished with sandpaper. Struggling, he pushed against Ying’s once-again full chest.
Unconsciously meeting Ying’s eyes, the wildness and manic behavior revealed in those eyes frightened him into freezing his struggling hands. When Ying revealed the ferocity of an eagle, the fear of snakes in his bones made him obediently submit.
He didn’t know when this execution ended. Ying pulled away from his mouth with an unsatisfied expression and even smacked his lips.
That frivolous appearance made Yu She blush. He stuck out his tongue and licked his already numb lips; he felt as if a layer of skin had been licked off his mouth.
Ying was still staring at his mouth. Afraid he would do it again, he simply turned his head and ignored him to express his dissatisfaction.
