Chapter 32: Implicated – “You Should Know, I Never Joke Around.”
After Qin Yizheng placed Yu Xia on the bed in the infirmary, the boy fell back asleep.
By the time Professor Wen examined him, Yu Xia was sleeping soundly. Aside from the unnatural flush on his cheeks and the unusually high body temperature, there seemed to be nothing wrong with the boy in the bed.
On the contrary, he looked like he was having a very good sleep.

Wen Lun was silent for a moment before letting out a sigh and explaining, “You should have heard what the school doctor said earlier.”
Qin Yizheng’s heart tightened instantly. He asked, “You mean regarding Yu Xia’s heat cycle?”
Wen Lun nodded. “I am a Beta myself, so I’m not overly sensitive to an Omega’s condition. My main focus is mental power. However, I do know a bit about this. Generally, a person’s constitution upgrades happen during their growth period, which coincides with an Alpha’s rut and an Omega’s heat cycle. At the same time, the constitution upgrade will affect the body’s physical maturity…”
“Which means, Yu Xia’s constitution upgrade will accelerate his physical maturity. His heat cycle will become unstable and could arrive at any moment now. We need to be prepared at all times.”
Qin Yizheng understood. “I get it. I’ll make sure he has suppressants ready.”
“It’s not just a matter of suppressants.” Wen Lun sighed. “When an Omega experiences their first heat, they have no experience. Even if you give him suppressants, he won’t know when to take them. Wen Lun immediately agreed. “I can apply for one for him.”
Given Yu Xia’s current physical condition, a medical robot was truly indispensable.
Because of the emergency that morning, Qin Yizheng had sent Gao Zhou away when he came to collect Yu Xia’s physical evaluation report. Since Yu Xia’s condition had stabilized, he needed to make the trip himself.
Watching Wen Lun take Yu Xia to the hospital, Qin Yizheng returned to Yu Xia’s single dorm and pulled up the previous day’s report.
He read through Yu Xia’s report carefully.
Sure enough, many of the values on the report were essentially identical to those of a normal C-rank constitution. Some data points had even surpassed C-rank. However, a few values were lagging behind, which had delayed Yu Xia’s constitution upgrade until now. Otherwise, the upgrade would have happened a few days earlier.

Qin Yizheng shook his head, opening the email on his optical computer while replying, “Not yet, I’m looking at it now.”
Ning Qing waved her hand dismissively. “No time for you to read it slowly, I’ll just tell you. You know how those Alliance agents were spying on Yu Xia a few weeks ago? It’s about that. The email contains the list of people we’ve rooted out following that lead over the past three weeks. The entire network is in the email. You can look at it yourself later. Yu Xia just arrived at Capital Star and probably doesn’t understand the intricacies of these connections, so you need to explain it to him clearly, understand?”
By this point, Qin Yizheng had already skimmed through the email. He spotted several familiar names and stopped at one in particular. “Major General Ye had a hand in this too?”
Ning Qing paused for a moment before realizing who he meant. “You mean Ye Yan? He was implicated by his son. After all, the person caught red-handed was his son’s boyfriend. This whole string of events had nothing to do with him, but Yun Shaocheng’s ties to the Alliance are blatantly obvious. Even if Ye Yan was completely oblivious, he can’t escape the fallout.”
Qin Yizheng understood. “Major General Ye got screwed over by his son again!”
Ning Qing nodded. “Yes, and this time he got screwed hard. Although he hasn’t been demoted, he’s under observation. Climbing higher will be very difficult now. Standing before his father, Ye Zhichen felt incredibly constrained, unsure of what to do with his hands or feet.

Yet, he was also incredibly proud.
This was his father, a Major General of the Empire.
But when facing him directly, he still felt fear.
Ye Zhichen stood stiffly before Ye Yan, asking cautiously, “Father, are you in a bad mood?”
Ye Yan scrutinized his son from head to toe before speaking. “Zhichen, I heard you found a partner. Can you tell me what kind of person he is?”
Hearing this, Ye Zhichen felt both nervous and overjoyed. He was nervous because his father’s tone, though mild, was undeniably commanding. He was overjoyed because his father was finally taking an interest in his personal life.
The joy won out. Ye Zhichen smiled as he answered, “Ah, yes. He’s a very gentle Omega named Yun Shaocheng. If there’s a chance, I’ll bring him home to meet you. But how did you find out about this?”
Ye Yan gave a faint “Mm.” “He leaked the mental power details of Yu Xia, a fellow orphan with Mental Power Disorder, to Alliance agents. The issue has reached my desk.”
Ye Zhichen’s joyful expression vanished instantly. “Father, are you saying Shaocheng… he and the Alliance…”
Ye Yan nodded. “Ever since Yu Xia arrived at Capital Star, the Alliance has been trying to sniff out the specific details of his mental power.”
Ye Zhichen tried to defend Yun Shaocheng. “That can’t be, right? Shaocheng has been in military training this whole time. He hasn’t had any chance to interact with Alliance agents. Father, this must be a misunderstanding. Shaocheng isn’t that kind of person…”
Ye Yan’s expression remained indifferent. “This matter implicates a lot of people, but Yun Shaocheng was caught red-handed. Ye Zhichen pursed his lips. “Father, can’t you…”
Before he could finish, Ye Yan cut him off. “No. Ye Zhichen, I told you a long time ago that you aren’t suited for the battlefield. I still believe that now.”
“Father!”
Ye Yan looked at his son. “What do you think the title of Imperial Major General represents? A position to be respected by the masses?”
Ye Zhichen was stunned, unsure why the conversation had shifted. “Is it not?”
“No. A Major General is a position meant to protect the people of the Empire,” Ye Yan stated. “Only by protecting the people first will they respect and love you. Everyone who steps onto the battlefield must hold this conviction. Do you have it?”
Ye Zhichen argued defensively, “Do I not?”
Ye Yan replied calmly, “I don’t see any obvious signs of it. But someone with that conviction definitely wouldn’t associate with Alliance agents. Yun Shaocheng’s close ties to the Alliance are irrefutable, and your intimate relationship with him as boyfriends is equally undeniable. Therefore, regardless of whether you hold that conviction, you are likely barred from the battlefield.”
“Soon, your grade dean should speak to you about changing your major. You are no longer suited to continue studying in the Command Department. However, you have decent talent. Even if you switch majors mid-way, it shouldn’t be a huge problem,” Ye Yan said, pouring himself a cup of tea.
This news struck like a bolt of lightning, leaving Ye Zhichen utterly dumbfounded.
“Father, you… are you joking?”
Ye Yan looked at Ye Zhichen. “You should know, I never joke around.”
