Chapter 62: The Trouble Caused by Photos…
(Third Update)
“Precious baby, what did you want to tell me?”
Papa Shen, who had successfully won the right to sleep with his youngest son tonight, grinned happily for a long while before finally remembering what his little son had said earlier, and casually asked.
Shen Lin obediently wrapped his arms around Papa Shen’s neck, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, “Papa, I want to help Uncle Aske tweat his injury~”
Papa Shen’s footsteps halted. He looked down at his soft, cute youngest son. “Did Aske say something to you?”
Shen Lin shook his head. “Uncle Aske is vewy nice to me. He buys me lots and lots of delicious things. I want to help him too.”
In Shen Lin’s world, anyone who bought him food was a good person. Not to mention, he could sense the goodwill and malice of others.
Aske had never harbored any malice toward him; on the contrary, he really liked him.
Every time Aske came to the house, he would bring different tasty treats and fun toys. Even if Shen Lin just looked at something for a second longer, it would appear in front of him the next time.
Shen Lin felt Aske was a good person, so he wanted to heal his wound.
Uncle Aske’s injury this time was unique; it was the deterioration of “pollution” resulting from a bloodline berserk outburst.
Wounds contaminated by berserk frenzy not only healed slowly but also affected one’s own bloodline, worsening their condition.
Papa Shen didn’t agree immediately. Instead, he carried the cub back to the room and placed him on the bed to face him directly.
Grasping the cub’s two chubby little hands, Papa Shen said solemnly, “Precious baby, Papa appreciates your kind intentions on Uncle Aske’s behalf. Papa knows my precious baby is capable and can cure the beastmen’s berserk syndrome. But I don’t want my precious baby to get hurt from the backlash of curing the syndrome. Berserk syndrome is fundamentally an incurable genetic disease, and your existence perfectly completes that genetic defect. But there aren’t just good people in the Interstellar; there are super bad guys too! I’m afraid they would do very bad things to you, and I’m even more worried that the people you kindly treat might betray you…”
He didn’t want his little son to experience betrayal ever again.
A single stab in the back could take a lifetime to heal.
Papa Shen thought of Coris. That was the man he had decided to support wholeheartedly, yet not only had he betrayed him, he had even buried Star Beast bones beneath his mansion…
A hint of gloom flashed in Papa Shen’s eyes.
Feeling Papa’s deep, protective love, the cub tilted his head up and smiled, revealing a row of tiny baby teeth.
“Papa, don’t be scawed, I am vewy stwong~”
Worried that Papa Shen wouldn’t believe him, Shen Lin demonstrated it on the spot.
A pink ribbon of light drilled out of his body, flew around Papa Shen a few times, and sank into his body, clearing out the black pollution hidden deep within his blood vessels.
Just as the ribbon of light was about to follow the pollutants into Papa Shen’s consciousness sea, Papa Shen grabbed it firmly.
“Precious baby, that’s enough. You don’t need to waste energy treating me; I’m already all better!”
Shen Lin furrowed his little brows and said earnestly, “But, Papa, there’s a lot of twash in your bwain!”
“Huh?”
Shen Lin crossed his arms over his chest and huffed angrily, “Papa, you’re a liar!”
Papa Shen hadn’t even processed the cub’s previous sentence before hearing the next one, and he immediately became anxious.
This wouldn’t do! He was determined to be a good role model for the cub. How could he let his image in the cub’s heart be damaged?
“Precious baby, Papa didn’t lie to you. My body is truly fully recovered.”
“Liar Papa, you definitely went and did lots of dangewous things again.”
“I didn’t.”
Papa Shen rubbed his nose, speaking contrary to his heart.
Shen Lin tapped his own nose. “When Papa lies, he likes to wub his nose.”
Papa Shen sheepishly lowered his hand.
Shen Lin puffed out his cheeks. He was angry.
But he didn’t just ignore it. Instead, he earnestly cleaned out the pollutants in Papa’s brain, finishing the job in just a few seconds.
This time, Papa Shen observed the cub’s reaction closely. He saw that while the cub was helping “treat” him, his face remained rosy and full of energy, entirely lacking the strain he had shown the last time he treated him.
During the plan this time, he had charged at the very front and suffered the most infection from berserk outbursts. Occasionally, a faint stabbing pain would pulse in his brain. Compared to the agonizing pain of being attacked by the Broodmother, this minor pain was naturally ignored.
He hadn’t expected his little son to see through his physical condition with a single glance and cure him effortlessly.
Papa Shen felt the refreshing clarity in his brain; channeling his bloodline power felt incredibly smooth.
With his current condition, if he were to fight the Broodmother again, he would definitely have the upper hand.
His little son hadn’t just healed his injuries this time; he had also enhanced his bloodline power.
Perhaps…
They had all misunderstood the cub’s abilities.
Unfortunately, no matter how shocked Papa Shen was by the cub’s powerful healing abilities, he still didn’t relent. He even warned the cub not to use his healing abilities again, saying that the symptoms of berserk backlash might appear later, and that he could fight wars but couldn’t cure illnesses.
Shen Lin perfunctorily grunted “uh-huh” a couple of times. He pulled a teething stick from his spatial button and gnawed on it absentmindedly, treating Papa Shen’s nagging like a lullaby.
Then, he fell asleep.
When Papa Shen heard the soft snoring and turned around, he saw his little son sleeping soundly, his face flushed pink, and crystal-clear drool slipping from the corner of his mouth around the teething stick.
He shook his head helplessly.
Accepting his fate, he pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped away the drool. He took the teething stick from the cub’s mouth, sterilized it, and placed it into a clean box.
Marshal Shen, who hadn’t slept for days, took a shower, lay down next to the cub, and fell into a deep, heavy sleep.
Shen Lin staked out the house for Uncle Aske for several days, but never saw him appear.
He didn’t need to guess; it was definitely Papa’s doing.
He wanted to settle the score with Papa, but Papa was nowhere to be found.
This made Shen Lin quite depressed.
No matter how depressed he was, he still had to go to school.
Big Brother Shen helped the cub tidy his clothes, grabbed his little backpack, and held his chubby little hand as they headed to the academy.
On the way, Big Brother Shen carefully wiped the milk stains from the cub’s mouth. “Bingbing, Big Brother is going to the border star. I’ll have your Second Sister or Third Brother pick you up this afternoon, okay?”
Still half-asleep, Shen Lin heard this and instantly woke up. “Big Bwother, don’t go~”
The cub clung to him stickily.
Shen Zeyu thoroughly enjoyed the cub’s clinging. He rubbed his fluffy head and coaxed gently, “Bingbing, is the Shi beast meat tasty?”
Shen Lin nodded without hesitation. “It’s tasty~”
“Big Brother will raise lots of Shi beasts for you at the border star, so you can have all the Shi beast meat you want. How about that?”
Shen Lin’s head-shaking motion paused, his little brain spinning.
The cub’s dazed look was incredibly adorable.
Shen Zeyu couldn’t hold back and ruffled his hair once more.
As the cub was lost in thought, his little head slowly drooped onto Big Brother Shen, and he drifted off to sleep again.
When he woke up, he was already lying in the little bed assigned to him at the Cub Academy.
By this time, Big Brother Shen had already boarded the starship heading to the border star.
At Shen Lin’s age, going to the Cub Academy basically meant playing and sleeping. The actual class time was very short. Teachers would instill basic life and theoretical knowledge into their heads while playing with the children.
“Bingbing, you’re awake!”
A little head popped up over the edge of the bed. Mo Bai’s eyes sparkled as he looked at him.
Shen Lin rubbed his eyes and climbed out of the little bed.
Mo Bai proactively helped him put on his shoes.
Both were still babies who needed to be looked after themselves, so watching one baby act like an adult trying to put shoes on another baby was quite comical.
Asika stood at the door watching for a while. Finding the scene too cute to resist, he couldn’t help but snap a photo.
Yes, leveraging his status as a “fansite master” backed by the Shen family, Asika successfully snagged a cushy, idle job at the Cub Academy.
He definitely couldn’t be a teacher; it was better to stick to his photography and not ruin the little kids.
The two kids had no idea someone was photographing them; they were still struggling with the shoes.
“Finally got ’em on!” Mo Bai wiped the sweat from his face, let out a long sigh, and said in confusion, “It’s so weird. When I watch my little uncle put my shoes on, he does it so fast. How come when I try to help Bingbing, it doesn’t work?”
Shen Lin paused. “It must be the shoes’ fault~”
Mo Bai nodded in agreement. “Bingbing, you should wear a different pair next time.”
“Okay~”
Shen Lin took Mo Bai’s hand, and the two planned to head to the toy area to play.
However, Asika noticed that Shen Lin was walking a bit funny.
Looking down.
Well, the shoes were on the wrong feet.
“Pfft~”
Asika couldn’t help but burst out laughing, but he still snapped another photo of the two cubs’ backs.
Right after, he heard the teacher’s surprised voice: “Oh my, Shen Lin, your shoes are on the wrong feet! Come to the teacher, I’ll help you fix them.”
Mo Bai crouched next to Shen Lin, an apologetic voice sounding out.
“Bingbing, I’m sorry. I messed up such a simple thing. Do you think I’m really dumb?”
Shen Lin said earnestly, “Momo is vewy smawt~”
“Really?”
“Uh-huh~”
“Hehe, Bingbing, you understand me best! My little uncle always calls me a dummy, but he’s the big dumb pig!”
Shen Lin nodded in agreement. “Uncle bad, Momo good~”
“Bingbing, you’re the best!”
Shen Lin coaxed Mo Bai back to happiness in just a few words, and the two little cubs rubbed their faces together.
The scene was warm and healing.
Asika couldn’t resist and snapped dozens of photos click, click, click.
When he went back to sort through the photos on his device, he couldn’t bear to delete a single one, looking at them over and over again.
He posted the first set of photos to his account.
Looking through the comments below, the reactions were mixed.
Many beastmen who worshipped the strong but were mediocre themselves acted out the classic “bullying the weak and fearing the strong” perfectly. They didn’t dare mock the strong, so they could only try to assert their presence and superiority over a cub.
Of course, there were also beastmen who shared his love for the cub’s cuteness, directly blasting those foul-mouthed beastmen back.
Because his account was affiliated with the Shen family, those negative comments were quickly deleted.
Just as Asika was opening the comments section, a message popped up on his Star Network.
It was a message from that royal guard named Chen Chan.
[Chen Chan: Photos.]
The other party was extremely aloof and transferred a hefty sum of Star Coins.
Asika accepted the money with zero backbone. Because he was so excited, he not only sent the solo photos of the cub but also included the interactive photos of the cub and Mo Bai.
Chen Chan didn’t even look through them; she directly forwarded them to His Majesty’s account, and then went off to execute her mission.
Her task this time was to capture a group of people associated with the Third Prince.
The mission was heavy, and she had to hurry.
Little did she know, the palace was currently in a state of high tension and panic all because of the photos she had sent.
