THE REBATE SYSTEM OF SUDDEN WEALTH CHAPTER 62

Chapter 62: The Play

Who was my teacher? Does a system count?

“My teacher is Bao Fu,” Gu Wanrong answered seriously.

Bao Fu? Never heard of him. Perhaps I’ve been too reclusive.

Shan Xueyong seriously questioned his reclusive lifestyle.

With the appraisal complete, Gu Wanrong told the staff, “Please pack my things. I’m leaving.”

The owner, having regained consciousness, trembled, “Miss, is there any way to undo this?”

“No returns,” Gu Wanrong said mischievously, adding, “Consider the two million the price for the Huangshan Gu painting.”

What???!!!

The owner almost fainted again.

Three hundred million!

She bought a three-hundred-million-yuan painting for two million!

This girl is an expert! And a sharper one than me!

She’d been acting from the start – feigning ignorance, haggling meticulously, leaving me just enough room to overcharge. I only slightly overcharged her on each item!

She bought so much I thought I’d found an easy mark, making over two million. But usually, I can make millions more off an inexperienced wealthy customer.

I was like a kite, completely under her control.

“Miss, please go slowly.”

The owner, word by word, said this before collapsing again.

The successful afternoon loot elevated Gu Wanrong’s mood. Upon returning to the hotel, she received a message from Luo Qingquan; the video had been taken down.

Manager Liu informed her that Bai Xian Mountain Villa had allocated land for her, allowing for direct delivery of produce to her Si Jiu City and J City residences; she’d also streamlined the management.

Gu Wanrong met Yu Yingying at the theatre for their play.

There weren’t many people, so Tong Shenba managed to get tickets and join them.

To Gu Wanrong’s surprise, she saw Bai Xiaosi, Yi Shang Entertainment’s newly signed artist. The fourth-year university student’s acting was far more mature than in her previous villainous role.

Watching a play live was more immersive than watching TV or movies. Before Gu Wanrong realized it, the performance was over.

While Yu Yingying went to the restroom, Gu Wanrong went to see Bai Xiaosi.

Gu Wanrong followed the theatre map carefully to the backstage.

Most of the audience had left, only staff remaining.

Walking down the quiet corridor, Gu Wanrong and Tong Shenba heard faint voices, giving Gu Wanrong goosebumps.

“Tong Shenba, did you hear someone talking?” Gu Wanrong stopped, asking Tong Shenba.

Tong Shenba, expressionless, replied, “Yes, in the third room to the right.”

Gu Wanrong continued, reaching the room and hearing hushed voices. One sounded like Bai Xiaosi.

Gu Wanrong listened.

“Teacher Zhuang, I’ve signed with Yi Shang Entertainment, thank you.”

It was Bai Xiaosi.

“I own shares in Can Yi Entertainment. Why don’t you leave Yi Shang and join Can Yi? I can look after you.”

A middle-aged man was trying to persuade Bai Xiaosi to break her contract.

Gu Wanrong: Isn’t Can Yi the company that drove Bai Xiaosi to suicide in her past life?

The conversation continued.

“I can’t break the contract.”

“I’ll pay the compensation.”

Bai Xiaosi sensed something was wrong and tried to leave.

“Ah!”

A scream echoed, followed by scuffling. It seemed Bai Xiaosi was being restrained.

Exploitation? Coercion?

Gu Wanrong felt a surge of foreboding. Bai Xiaosi was in trouble.

She kicked the locked door, to no avail.

Tong Shenba struck the door with her elbow, bursting it open.

Gu Wanrong rushed in, seeing Teacher Zhuang grabbing Bai Xiaosi, trying to pull her into his embrace.

“Let go!”

Gu Wanrong grabbed a broom and swung it at the man.

The man, hit, released Bai Xiaosi, who ran to Gu Wanrong.

The man, outnumbered, tried to escape, pushing furniture and props to block their way.

But Tong Shenba, agile and trained, swiftly cleared the obstacles and subdued him.

Gu Wanrong put down the broom, hugging Bai Xiaosi and comforting her.

“Don’t be afraid, Tong Shenba caught the bad guy.”

Bai Xiaosi calmed down.

Gu Wanrong was surprised by her own bravery and decisiveness. She’d never thought she could be so courageous.

Having Tong Shenba nearby boosted her courage.

The commotion drew theatre staff.

Yu Yingying, worried after waiting for Gu Wanrong, went looking for her.

She saw the commotion, Tong Shenba restraining a man, Gu Wanrong comforting a woman. Yu Yingying asked, “What happened?”

“She’s a newly signed artist at my company. We happened upon her in danger and helped her,” Gu Wanrong explained.

Yu Yingying understood. She glared at the man, “Scum!”

Bai Xiaosi stared at Gu Wanrong, incredulous. Was this the mysterious CEO of Yi Shang Entertainment? Her unexpected savior.

More staff arrived. One anxiously asked, “Teacher Zhuang, what’s wrong? Let go of Teacher Zhuang!”
