Chapter 34 Qian Li
Just then, a scream echoed from upstairs.
The terrified, despairing cry was excruciatingly loud in the silent hallway.
“Damn it,” Su Mo cursed under her breath, remembering Peng Yu’s mention of survivors, and rushed towards the sound.
The dark, damp hallway was treacherous. Rusty railings were alarming; the uneven steps were perilous; even the short distance felt like walking on needles.
Following the sound, they climbed two floors. The cries grew clearer, the number of corpses increasing, the growls and frantic footsteps growing louder and more chaotic.
Stepping onto the fifth floor, they found nothing but emptiness.
Before they could react, something burning hot, with crackling sounds, slammed into them.
Shen Shao Jie quickly pulled her aside and kicked the object.
With a “bang,” the flaming object struck a damaged shelf, its force causing a cascade of shelves to collapse.
Su Mo saw that it was a burning zombie. The fire, combined with the impact, had severely damaged its head; it twitched once and stopped moving.
“It’s still somewhat useful,” Shen Shao Jie commented casually, glancing at the dead zombie.
Su Mo rolled her eyes. Do you think everyone is as violent and ruthless as you?
Letting go of her arm, Su Mo scanned the area. The mall’s open space was littered with body parts and corpses, with no moving zombies in sight. Only the frantic growls echoed behind them. They exchanged glances; the rooftop was clearly the scene of the conflict.
As they turned towards the rooftop, a joyful, excited voice called out from behind. The sweet, seductive voice sent a shiver down Su Mo’s spine, instantly igniting a surge of hatred in her eyes.
Qian Li, in a blue dress, her hair disheveled, stood on the stairs to the rooftop. Seeing Su Mo, she was overjoyed and rushed towards her, her sweet voice tinged with tears, “Mo Mo, I missed you so much.”
Her frozen body, the warmth emanating from Qian Li, and the sound of her voice reminded Su Mo of the past. She had told herself that this time, the tragedy wouldn’t happen again; this woman hadn’t harmed her yet; the past was in the past.
But seeing this woman brought back that unbearable hatred.
Yes, she hated, she resented, but she hated herself most.
A mist clouded her icy eyes; her nails dug into her skin, causing pain, and a metallic taste filled her mouth.
Taking a deep breath, Su Mo pushed Qian Li away, her eyes cold and ruthless.
Staring at her, she glanced at the devastated hallway, a knowing smile playing on her lips. She didn’t answer her question but asked, “So, everyone upstairs is an acquaintance?”
The moment Su Mo pushed her away, Qian Li sensed something was different. Now, seeing her knowing smile, she felt uneasy, as if Su Mo could see right through her.
Her face faltered slightly. Following Su Mo’s words, she nodded, “They’re our classmates.” Pausing, her eyes narrowed inquisitively, “And Lu Chen.”
Qian Li watched Su Mo, expecting a joyous reaction, but to her surprise, Su Mo’s face remained calm, as if she didn’t know Lu Chen at all.
Carefully toying with her butterfly knife, Su Mo smiled faintly, her voice melancholic, “Classmates…”
Silence followed.
Seeing her indifference, Qian Li was confused. Something was wrong; it shouldn’t have been like this. A look of frustration flashed in her eyes. Insisting, she emphasized, “And Chen, Mo Mo, you don’t know how worried Chen has been about you these past two months.”
Seeing Su Mo’s smile, Qian Li felt a surge of confidence, convinced that the fool would forget their past and start inquiring about Chen. She would then use that opportunity to send the fool to her death.
However, as she plotted, a cold, mocking voice echoed in her ear, “If apologies were useful, what would we need police for?”

“Sir, I’m so sorry for what I did last night!”
Jin Chenan offered a bank card, “This is compensation!”
Jin Chenan regretted sleeping with him after drinking.
Rumor has it that he’s frail, needing a hospital visit every two days, and a stay in intensive care once a month!
He cleared his throat, his face pale,
“My body…”

“No, I have filming this afternoon.”
Jin Chenan pushed away the person clinging to him. This wasn’t a psychopathic gentleman; it was a hungry wolf.
He was clinging to her at night; now, he wouldn’t let go in the morning.
He leaned over, stroking her blushing cheek meaningfully, “Is filming more important, or am I?”
“Of course…” Before she could finish, she kissed his alluring cheek and replied with a smile, “Of course, you are!”
“Good, I accept.”
His hands began to wander…
