Chapter 37: So-called Courting Death?
That single word carried bone-chilling coldness, the icy voice ooze with bloodthirsty cruelty. His voice was light, yet it instantly made Qian Li feel like she couldn’t breathe.
Her beautiful face went deathly pale, her nails digging into her palms, bringing threads of pain soon accompanied by sticky wetness.
A twisted, extreme unwillingness rose in her heart as Qian Li instantly directed all her hatred toward Su Mo.
She couldn’t help but think hatefully: It must be that bitch who said something to cause this. Otherwise, with her figure and looks, which man would refuse her advances? A trace of utter madness flashed through her seductive eyes.

But then, a loud bang came from near the rooftop as a figure crashed down violently, interrupting what she was about to say. Just hearing that sound was enough to make anyone wince in pain.
Immediately after, a heart-stopping scream suddenly rang out in the stairwell, that panicked voice filled with terrified fear, making the entire space tremble.

The scream carried extreme panic, accompanied by chaotic, frenzied footsteps. A rotting stench rushed toward them, and the air was instantly filled with the sinister atmosphere of slaughter and blood.
There, several young men and women covered in blood, their disheveled faces written with terrified fear, frantically fleeing while looking back at the zombies behind them.
The boy who had been thrown down tried to get up, only to be immediately trampled underfoot by the people behind him, his pained face letting out moans from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing the zombies about to surge down frantically, one of the tall men, his eyes flashing with vicious cunning amid the panic, looked at the boy on the ground and suddenly reached out to grab him.
Just when everyone thought this man would take him along, his lips suddenly curved in a sinister smile, and with a forceful motion, he threw the boy toward the zombie horde.
“What are you doing?” An angry roar filled with shocked disbelief rang out as Lu Chen’s eyes flashed with violence, his thin face filled with fury as he glared fiercely at the man.
All the zombies pounced before the boy even hit the ground, and instantly, heart-rending screams filled with desperate moans echoed through the stairwell. Those sounds mixed with resentment were like ghostly wails from hell, making people’s hair stand on end.
The bloody scene, the sounds of flesh being torn, accompanied by the zombies’ chewing and swallowing—the entire scene was like purgatory.
Seeing the distance widened and all the zombies blocked in the stairwell, the man’s expression relaxed slightly. He turned around, seeing the others glaring at him angrily, his slightly chubby face twitching with disdain: “Don’t tell me you wanted to bring him along. Rather than being dragged down and dying anyway, better he dies now to buy us time.”
With that, ignoring everyone’s looks, the man directly abandoned them and ran downstairs quickly. For a moment, strange glints flashed in everyone’s eyes.
The boy’s body was torn apart and disappeared within moments. Without food, the horde of zombies instantly turned toward the others, surging toward them frantically.
Seeing this, Lu Chen’s eyes flashed with turbulence, his voice cold as he turned: “Go.”
Watching this scene with cold eyes, Su Mo’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness. Seeing that man running down quickly and about to rush in front of her, she narrowed her eyes, a cold smile crossing her lips.
His panicked eyes glanced behind him, his footsteps never stopping as he rushed downward. The frenzied sounds continued in his ears, accompanied by the bloody smell filling his nostrils.
Just as he was about to turn his head, suddenly several figures stood in front of him. A gleam flashed in his eyes, his evil lips curving upward.
His tall body strode over the steps. Seeing Qian Li among them, his eyes shifted as he reached out with clawed fingers, lunging directly at Su Mo.
Brilliant light flashed coldly in her eyes. Taking a step back, Su Mo quickly raised her foot, kicking toward his chest.
Sudden pain shot through her ankle as a heavy force pulled her backward. Steadying herself, Su Mo looked at the man across from her, seeing his smug expression. She narrowed her eyes: “Strength-type ability user?”
Patting the dust off his chest, the man looked at Su Mo, his lips curving in a vicious cold smile: “Good that you know. Better surrender obediently.” Speaking, his eyes shifted, seeing Lu Chen and the others coming down, followed by a large group of zombies.
His eyes flashed as his form quickly moved, approaching Su Mo again, trying to grab her.
That thunderous momentum instantly made Qian Li, standing nearby, tense up. Her eyes excitedly watched those surging claws, her whole face filled with anticipation.
“Stop…” A shocked, angry voice suddenly rang out. Lu Chen, just coming down the stairs, saw this scene and reached out to pull back the man’s charging figure, but was still a step too slow.
The whooshing sound grew closer. Her brilliant eyes showed a trace of depth, pupils slowly rising with sinister terror. Su Mo didn’t move, her whole person looking as if she’d been stunned, standing in place watching his approaching body.
Seeing that tall, mighty form about to touch her the next second, everyone couldn’t help but hold their breath nervously. But then, a sighing sound reached their ears.
Lifting the machine gun in his hand to his shoulder, Shen Shaojie leaned his body to one side. His devilish face showed laziness, his thin lips curving up, his brilliant star-like pupils looking at the man with pity. Shaking his head leisurely: “The world is so wonderful, life is so beautiful—why can’t you think straight and court death?”
