Chapter 99: Huo Qingyan’s Mother
Zhou Fu was too shocked to speak. Mr. Huo wouldn’t want to act, would he?
Waiting for a long time without a response from Zhou Fu, Huo Qingyan frowned and called him, “Zhou Fu?”
“I think… this… I…” Zhou Fu stammered, shaking his head, “I don’t know. I only know Mr. Jiang among actors. Should I call him and ask?”
Huo Qingyan didn’t speak.
After much hesitation, Zhou Fu asked Huo Qingyan, “Mr. Huo, you wouldn’t want to act, would you?”
Huo Qingyan nodded seriously, “Mm.”
When he saw Bai Mu and Jiang Su acting opposite each other, he felt angry but also secretly envious.
If he could act too, he could act with Jiang Su in the same crew…
Zhou Fu’s hand trembled so much he almost lost his grip on the steering wheel.
“Mr. Huo, I don’t think you’re suitable for acting.” He couldn’t imagine what Huo Qingyan would be like acting.
Huo Qingyan’s expression turned cold, “You think I’m not as good as Bai Mu?”
Zhou Fu solemnly denied, “No.”
Zhou Fu cleared his throat and sincerely suggested, “Mr. Huo, why don’t you try acting happy?”
Huo Qingyan tried to curl his lips, trying to show a happy expression.
After two failed attempts, Huo Qingyan said coldly, “Go to the company for overtime!”
He was somewhat exasperated.
Zhou Fu relaxed, “Okay, before going to the company for overtime, can we eat first?”
…
After Zhou Fu parked the car, he got out to open the door for Huo Qingyan in the back.
He glanced casually and saw a familiar car.
“Mr. Huo, isn’t that Mr. Jiang’s car?”
Huo Qingyan got out of the car, also glanced, and slightly curled his lips, “It is.”
Huo Qingyan quickened his pace towards the restaurant.
As soon as he entered the restaurant, Huo Qingyan saw Jiang Su.
Jiang Su was turning to talk to Jiang Ying. Jiang Licuan was there too, and several other familiar but unnamable people.
Zhou Fu glanced at Huo Qingyan, and very thoughtfully, took the initiative to greet Jiang Su, “Mr. Jiang!”
Jiang Su turned his head at the sound, and when he saw Huo Qingyan, he paused slightly.
Huo Qingyan said softly, “What a coincidence.”
It wasn’t really a coincidence.
They only frequented a few restaurants, making it easy to meet.
Huo Qingyan didn’t attend many dinner parties, yet he had encountered Jiang Ying and the others at the same restaurant.
It was possible to encounter them if they often socialized.
Zhou Fu knew the Jiang family didn’t like Huo Qingyan and wouldn’t pay him any attention. After exchanging a few polite remarks, he found a seat with Huo Qingyan.
Jiang Ying watched Huo Qingyan and Zhou Fu sit down, then whispered to Jiang Su, “It feels like Huo Qingyan is a persistent ghost.”
“Second Sister, don’t worry about irrelevant people. Eat your vegetables.” Jiang Su served Jiang Ying some food.
Jiang Su and Xu Mochun had originally planned to go straight home.
But on the way, they received a call from Jiang Licuan, saying that a few childhood friends were back and wanted to have dinner together.
Since he was free, he came over.
There were many people at Jiang Su’s table, and everyone chatted and laughed, making the dinner last several hours.
Huo Qingyan and Zhou Fu, just two people, also ate for two hours.
Zhou Fu touched his bulging stomach and seriously asked, “Mr. Huo, if I die from overeating, does that count as death in the line of duty?”
Huo Qingyan glanced at the considerable number of dishes on the table and finally felt a little guilty.
He thought for a moment and asked Zhou Fu, “Want to take a few days off?”
Zhou Fu: “Two days.”
Two days should be enough for him to recover.
At this time, there was movement from Jiang Su’s side; the group was laughing and getting ready to leave.
Jiang Su had a little alcohol with them and leisurely followed them outside.
As soon as they left the restaurant, a woman ran from the side and bumped into Jiang Su.
The woman looked frail, but because she was running so fast, she bumped into Jiang Su hard, making him wince in pain.
“I’m sorry…” The woman was flustered, but her voice was gentle. After hurriedly apologizing, she ran away desperately.
Jiang Su held his shoulder and watched the woman run away.
“Are you alright?” Jiang Ying, who was behind, saw Jiang Su being bumped into and quickly came over.
Jiang Su shook his head, and said somewhat puzzledly, “I just think that woman looks familiar…”
A group of men in black ran from where the woman had just come from.
Each of them was tall and muscular; they were clearly professionally trained bodyguards.
Were these bodyguards chasing the woman?
Suddenly, a thought struck Jiang Su, “I remember who she is!”
Jiang Ying asked, “Who?”
Jiang Su himself wasn’t sure, “It’s Huo Qingyan’s mother.”
Jiang Su was stunned: “Huh?”
The woman looked frail; how could she be Huo Qingyan’s mother?
“Tell him when Huo Qingyan comes out.” Seeing that the bodyguards were about to disappear, Jiang Su took off running after them.
“Hey, Xiao Qi…” Jiang Ying wanted to call Jiang Su back, but Jiang Su ran too fast, quickly disappearing.
Jiang Licuan had drunk a lot of alcohol and belatedly noticed that Jiang Su was gone: “Where’s Xiao Qi? Where did he go?”
Jiang Ying didn’t bother to answer Jiang Licuan, turning to run into the restaurant.
She bumped into Huo Qingyan, who was about to come out, and directly said, “Xiao Qi said he saw your mother, and he’s already chasing after her. What’s going on?”
Those men in black, although dressed as bodyguards, looked menacing, and she didn’t know if they would harm Jiang Su.
Huo Qingyan’s expression suddenly changed: “Which direction?”
Jiang Ying pointed in the direction Jiang Su had left: “That way!”
“Zhou Fu, find someone!” Huo Qingyan only said this and chased after Jiang Su.
Since Huo Qingyan had left, Jiang Ying could only ask Zhou Fu.
“Zhou Fu…”
Zhou Fu said solemnly: “Ms. Jiang, I’m not entirely sure about the specifics, but rest assured, Mr. Huo will definitely not let Mr. Jiang get hurt. I have to go find them now.”
…
Jiang Su didn’t know how long he had run or how far he had chased.
When his legs were about to give out from exhaustion, he finally saw them again.
They had already caught the woman and were dragging her away.
Jiang Su took out his phone and sent Huo Qingyan a location on WeChat, then strode towards them.
“Stop!”
Hearing Jiang Su’s voice, they all looked at him.
One of the bodyguards whispered to another, “It’s the seventh son of the Jiang family.”
Jiang Su was slightly surprised. They actually knew him.
The captured woman also looked at Jiang Su.
After running for so long and struggling to escape, she looked extremely haggard.
Even so, it couldn’t hide the elegance in her bones.
Her eyes lit up, her panic still evident, her voice as gentle as when she apologized earlier, “You’re Jiang Su?”
