Chapter 41 Dinner Together
After reading his message, Chen Jiamu scoffed. Li Qi’s words were a bit crude, but she wasn’t wrong…
A man’s oath was indeed like a dog’s bark; he agreed with that.
【So how did you handle it?】
A few seconds after sending the message, there was a knock on the door. Chen Jiamu looked up, puzzled, and went to open it.
“You’re back already?”
“He didn’t bother you?”
At the door stood Li Qi, carrying several bags. She put the items inside, shaking her slightly red wrists.
“At first, he was quite persistent. Later, I said that if he came to the company again, I would tell his family about his gambling problem.”
“And, he has nearly 100,000 yuan in gambling debts.”
“Later, he felt guilty and left.”
Chen Jiamu’s attention was drawn to the pile of packages, but he still wanted to ask about the next thing: “He gambles?”
“So, he embezzled other people’s money to pay off his gambling debts?”
Li Qi nodded, indicating that was correct.
“He’s so shameless, yet he still dared to say he did it for his mother.”
“Such hypocrisy!”
Li Qi smiled after hearing him finish, then pointed to the pile of packages, “These are your deliveries. I met the delivery guy downstairs.”
“So I brought them up for you.”
“Mine?”
“You’re such a good person!”
Hearing that they were his packages, Chen Jiamu immediately took out his phone to check his orders.
After confirming they were his, he happily squatted down to open them. Noticing Li Qi was still standing at the door, he tugged at her pants leg, “Don’t block the doorway.”
“Come in, I’ll show you what I bought.”
“You seem to know more about cats than I do. I don’t know much, can you help me take a look?”
“Okay.”
The corners of Li Qi’s lips curved slightly upwards. She walked into the room and sat on the sofa watching him open the packages.
“I saw online that cats need a cat bed, so I bought one.”
“Isn’t it pretty cute?”
Li Qi looked at the pink fluffy cat bed in his hand, hesitating whether or not to say anything critical, when she saw him open another one.
“I also bought it a toy, isn’t this fish cute?”
Chen Jiamu shook the toy fish in his hand, his eyes full of excitement. He looked around, seeing Little Seven crouching under the coffee table, staring at him with dark, round eyes.
His heart softened, and Chen Jiamu threw the toy over. Little Seven had never seen such a large thing before, and it ran away in fright.
“Huh, it doesn’t like it?”
“The comments said that cats love it.”
Seeing Little Seven’s dislike, Chen Jiamu felt frustrated. Li Qi smiled helplessly, “If you throw it like that, anyone would be scared.”
“You should gently place it in front of it, letting it smell it. If it likes it, it will play with it itself.”
“Like this…”
Li Qi squatted down, picked up the fish and carefully placed it in front of Little Seven.
Little Seven, frightened earlier, didn’t dare to get too close this time. Seeing Li Qi approach, its ears stood up.
“Don’t be afraid, smell it.”
Li Qi gently stroked its little head, letting it smell the fish.
The moment it smelled it, Little Seven was like it had taken a stimulant, hugging the fish and kicking it violently.
It seemed to like it very much.
The contrast was so great that Chen Jiamu’s eyes widened in surprise, pointing at the fish, “What?”
“Did it get high?”
Li Qi laughed at his statement, waving her hand, “Not that exaggerated.”
“But there is something inside the fish that can excite it, not a stimulant, but catnip.”
“Catnip is almost like a stimulant for humans, they are very sensitive to it, and they love it.”
Li Qi’s voice was gentle, Chen Jiamu was relieved, but he also noticed something: Li Qi didn’t own a cat, so how did she know so much?
“You don’t have a cat, how do you know so much?”
Li Qi had never owned a cat, but when she was abroad, she had looked into it, so she knew a little about cat things.
“When I was abroad, Song Yi wanted me to get one, but I didn’t.”
“I was bored, so I found out how to take care of a cat, that’s why I know so much.”
“Oh, I thought you had one abroad.”
“But with you here, I won’t make any mistakes in raising a cat.”
Chen Jiamu was relieved and continued to open the packages. The sunlight streamed through the balcony into the room, their shadows cast on the coffee table; one sitting on the sofa, the other squatting on the ground unpacking.
As the sun set, their shadows gradually faded, eventually disappearing completely…
After unpacking the packages, Chen Jiamu hadn’t found anything suitable, he’d practically made every mistake in cat ownership.
“No more unpacking, I’m going to eat.”
“Me too, I haven’t eaten yet, let’s go together.” Li Qi stood up from the sofa, brushing off the cat hair.
“Okay!”
Hearing about food, Chen Jiamu quickly got up from the floor, tidied up the trash, and excitedly ran to the door.
“What do you want to eat?”
“I want grilled fish!”
“Okay.”
