Chapter 49: First Kiss, First Kiss, First Kiss

Gu Fei suddenly raised his hand and pointed to his own lips.

His expression remained calm and composed, but Lin Qingyan, sitting beside him, was far from calm. His fair cheeks instantly flushed a shy crimson. In the space of two seconds, a thousand and one thoughts raced through his mind.

Gu Fei had just said he would repay him in another way, and now he was making this gesture. Could it be that he wanted him to kiss him? Was that alright? Why was Gu Fei suddenly doing this? This was too sudden!

Seeing the boy’s strange expression, Gu Fei was a little puzzled. He raised his hand again and pointed to his lip, gesturing again that he had a bit of cake crumb on his mouth.

Seeing the man’s gesture, Lin Qingyan nervously clutched the seams of his pants, his heart pounding as if it were about to leap out of his chest. With a determined bite of his lip, he leaned over and quickly kissed the man’s lips.

It was a kiss as light as a dragonfly touching water; a brief touch before pulling away.

“…”

The air suddenly fell silent, so quiet that they could hear each other’s shallow breaths. A subtle air of ambiguity hung in the silence. Lin Qingyan lowered his eyes, sweat forming on his palms. He could only hear his own thumping heartbeat.

He couldn’t help but steal a glance at Gu Fei’s reaction. The man sat upright, his body seemingly stiff, his thin lips slightly pursed, showing no reaction.

Lin Qingyan felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head. Gu Fei didn’t seem to like it… His excited and joyful mood instantly plummeted. His cheeks burned with shame and confusion.

“I… I’m sorry, I have something else to do, I’ll go back first.” His voice was filled with panic. He stood up to leave, but before he could take a step, his wrist was grasped.

Gu Fei finally reacted. He gently but firmly held the boy’s slender wrist, his palm warm. His low, magnetic voice seemed to carry a tingling current. “YanYan, where are you going?”

He could see the boy’s ears, flushed crimson and seemingly about to bleed, like a finely carved work of art. The man’s calm eyes were deep, yet held an inexplicable emotion. He said softly, “Sit down first.”

Lin Qingyan wished he could find a hole to crawl into, but he gritted his teeth and sat back down, still lowering his eyes, not daring to look at the man’s face, his eyelashes trembling nervously.

Suddenly, a low chuckle reached his ears.

Gu Fei’s gaze fixed on the boy, his tone seemingly containing amusement and teasing. “YanYan, you were the one who initiated the kiss, why are you the one feeling shy?”

Lin Qingyan: “I… I wasn’t.”

As soon as he finished speaking, his chin was gently pinched by the man. He was forced to raise his head, meeting the man’s deep gaze. He could feel the man’s fingertip against his lip, gently wiping it.

“…”

When he saw the cake crumb on Gu Fei’s finger, he wanted to die. Gu Fei’s gesture wasn’t an invitation to kiss him; it was a reminder that he had a cake crumb on his mouth!

…He had completely misinterpreted the situation.

Seeing Lin Qingyan’s embarrassed expression, Gu Fei’s mood improved, and he mischievously continued to tease him, “So this is YanYan’s way of repaying me? Hmm?”

Lin Qingyan was overwhelmed with shame and anger, especially seeing the man’s handsome, mature face up close. He couldn’t help but cover his face with his hand. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I saw your gesture and thought you… you wanted me to repay you like that.”

Gu Fei: “Hmm? Like what?”

Lin Qingyan: “…”

He couldn’t bring himself to say it.

He wanted to disappear.

He shrank into himself like an ostrich.

Gu Fei secretly curled his lips, amusedly watching the boy’s every move, thinking, So cute, so obedient, while saying nonchalantly, “So in YanYan’s heart, Fei Ge is that kind of person?”

“No!” Having reached this point, Lin Qingyan decided to just go with the flow. He buried his face in his hands, mumbling, “You’re a righteous gentleman. It’s my impure thoughts, my misunderstanding of your intentions. I’m sorry! Please scold me if you want!”

After he spoke, the surrounding air fell silent again.

Lin Qingyan’s heart drummed nervously. He couldn’t help but open his fingers slightly, peeking through the gaps to secretly observe Gu Fei’s reaction. Unexpectedly, he met those dark, deep eyes, causing his heart to skip a beat.

He forgot to react until Gu Fei took his wrist and gently moved his hands away from his face.

Gu Fei looked at the boy and said, “YanYan, you’re wrong.”

“I’m not a righteous gentleman.”

Lin Qingyan lost his ability to think. His clear, peach blossom eyes widened slightly as he looked at him in bewilderment, like a small orange cat at home. Gu Fei couldn’t help but reach out and touch his hair, smiling.

He said, “You’ll know someday.”

Lin Qingyan nodded blankly again.

“Let’s eat.”

“Mm…”

And so, this blunder was inexplicably glossed over, at least superficially.

Lin Qingyan had made simple home-cooked dishes: three dishes and a soup. His cooking skills weren’t great, but they weren’t bad either.

He had learned to cook when he was about ten. When Zhou YueLan wasn’t home, he was the one who cooked and took care of his younger brother. Lin Jianxiang never bothered with them.

Later, when he worked alone to earn money, he often cooked his own meals. It was cheaper than eating out. Usually, he’d stir-fry one dish, and that would be his lunch and dinner, usually spending no more than ten yuan a day on food.

It didn’t have to be delicious; it just needed to fill his stomach.

Because of what had just happened, Lin Qingyan felt embarrassed to look at Gu Fei, burying his head in his meal the entire time, not even knowing what he was eating.

Gu Fei didn’t usually talk while eating. His movements and demeanor were as natural and elegant as usual. Although he didn’t have much of an appetite, and the food didn’t compare to a hotel chef’s, he still ate quite a bit.

Because it was made by Lin Qingyan.

After lunch, Lin Qingyan’s chaotic mind finally calmed down, but he still felt uncomfortable staying there. He immediately found an excuse to leave: “Fei Ge, I’ll go back now. I don’t want to disturb your work.”

Gu Fei: “Not at all. It’s lunchtime.”

Lin Qingyan opened his mouth but didn’t speak.

The man in front of him leaned back more comfortably on the sofa, his long legs, encased in suit fabric, casually crossed. The top button of his shirt was undone, a change from his usual formal and serious appearance. His posture was casual and languid.

His eyelids were half-closed. He raised his hand and gently pinched his brow, weariness etched between his handsome brows and eyes, even his imposing aura lessened.

Lin Qingyan rarely saw Gu Fei in this state.

His heart suddenly softened. After thinking for a moment, he walked behind Gu Fei, placed his hands on the man’s shoulders, and gently kneaded them through the fabric. His movements were somewhat clumsy.

Gu Fei closed his eyes involuntarily, quietly feeling the boy’s hands on his shoulders. It felt a little itchy and tingly. A faint smile played on his lips. His voice was lazy and low, “Is this also YanYan’s way of repaying me?”

Lin Qingyan could only nod stiffly, “How does it feel? Comfortable?”

Gu Fei: “Mm, very good.”

But he still preferred the previous method.

Gu Fei added silently.

Ten minutes later, Lin Qingyan was lying on the bed in the Gu Corporation CEO’s office’s rest room, still questioning his life. However, the man beside him had already closed his eyes and was breathing evenly.

How did he agree to a midday nap with Gu Fei?

Just as he was agonizing over this, an arm suddenly snaked around his waist. His back was pressed against a warm, solid chest. The man’s hot breath sprayed onto the skin of his neck, burning his ears red.

This was the second time Gu Fei had held him while sleeping. The first time was because Gu Fei had been drunk. The second time… Lin Qingyan didn’t dare move. He thought Gu Fei must be asleep now; it was an unconscious action.

He didn’t want to disturb the man’s rest, so he obediently let himself be held, not daring to make a sound, only his eyelashes fluttering slightly. His thin, slender body curled slightly, looking completely at the man’s mercy, appearing exceptionally well-behaved.

Gu Fei silently opened his eyes. His gaze first fell on the boy’s white neck. His breath sprayed on it; the fair skin was even slightly flushed, very sensitive.

The man silently curled his lips, then closed his eyes and actually fell asleep.

When Gu Fei woke up again, two hours had passed. Lin Qingyan was still in his arms, lying on his back in the same position. The child was so well-behaved, he hadn’t moved even in his sleep.

Gu Fei couldn’t help but touch his lips, savoring the fleeting kiss in his mind. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed.

After a moment of silence, as if remembering something, he carefully reached out and plucked a strand of the boy’s hair.

“Assistant Yang, I have three DNA samples here. Please personally take them to the hospital for a paternity test.” Gu Fei handed two small sealed bags to Yang Jing. One bag contained two strands of hair, one long and one short. “These are the parents’.”

The other bag contained the hair he had just pulled from Lin Qingyan’s head. “This is the child’s.”

Yang Jing took the bags, a little curious. Who was Mr. Gu getting a paternity test for? He just had to do what his superior instructed, of course he wouldn’t ask, “Yes, Mr. Gu. I’ll go right away.”

“Mm.”

Lin Jianxiang and Zhou YueLan’s DNA samples had been quietly collected days ago. Gu Fei had only been free to deal with this matter now that he was back from his business trip.

The results will be known soon enough.
