All the Furries in the Academy Want to Pet Me chapter 3

Chapter 3

Yan He’s talent for self-consolation quickly took over. In this day and age, even huskies could be classified as fierce dogs. “Hunting dog” and “fierce dog” sounded similar enough…

With the cold clang of the iron gate closing heavily behind them, the school bus officially entered the grounds of Bestia Academy. A hot wind rustled the colorful sunflowers lining both sides of the road, their vibrant clusters bursting with life, which stood in stark contrast to the lifeless buildings.

The Baroque-style architecture, inlaid with marble, was extraordinarily magnificent yet exuded a sense of decaying, eerie death, like gorgeous red roses blooming splendidly before a cross-shaped tombstone.

Exquisitely carved cherubs continuously spouted water from fountains, and a massive statue in the center appeared gentle and sacred under the afternoon light.

The statue was not of the Virgin Mary, nor of Confucius or Mencius.

The driver smiled as he drove towards the nearby academic affairs office, making sure to introduce it. “This is the Beast God, a deity rumored to protect all beasts. The students love to worship him.”

At Bestia Academy, aside from the towering stone clock tower, the Beast God statue was the most iconic and central structure.

Yan He fell into deep thought. Beast God? Students revere a Beast God? Shouldn’t they be praying to Confucius and Zu Chongzhi to not fail their exams? Or is this just the author’s own world-building? What is all this?!

The dean of academic affairs was a middle-aged man in his forties with a wispy mustache. His tailored suit made his already thin frame look even more gaunt. He had clearly been waiting at the entrance of the office for a long time, and a trace of dissatisfaction showed on his face.

Seeing the specially-enrolled students get off the bus, he immediately hurried them along. “Alright students, hurry up and complete your registration. You should all be fine with communal living, right?”

The students lined up and nodded, unsurprised.

Yan He: Why is it that I recognize every word, but I can’t understand what it means when strung together?

Communal living? Was he asking if they were sociable? Yan He wasn’t sure.

The registration process was simple. The senior student helping them was a man of few words, handling things officially and refusing to answer any of the new students’ questions. He just lazily pointed to the freshman handbook given to each of them, telling them to read it themselves.

The academy had already prepared transportation and meal cards for them.

The campus was huge, and unlike the rich scions with their private cars, the specially-enrolled students had dedicated bus routes. There were two lines in total, covering forty stops, but the last bus ran at 5:00 PM.

The academy had ten student cafeterias, but the prices varied. The specially-enrolled students usually ate at Cafeteria No. 1. Occasionally, when they had extra money, they would go to Cafeteria No. 2 for a treat. The prices at the other cafeterias were beyond their consideration.

“Your textbooks, nameplates, and custom-made school uniforms will be delivered to your dormitory building later.”

After the mustached dean finished speaking, he looked at Yan He with concern. “Student Yan, is your cold any better? Should I have Little Chen take you to the school hospital for a check-up later?”

No wealthy student was willing to interact with these lowly specially-enrolled students, and this Senior Chen was no exception. “Director, you forgot. The doctors and specialists from the school hospital went out for a study session today.”

A husky voice, like rough sandpaper rubbing against a velvet carpet, sounded soft and humble. “No need to trouble you, Senior. I bought cold medicine beforehand.”

The slightly nasal, syrupy voice flowed into his ears. Senior Chen was stunned and couldn’t help but look at the speaker, instantly finding himself drawn into a sea of glass shrouded in night fog.

The tone, affected by a cold, couldn’t be called pleasant, but it was like an invisible hand stroking his dry fur, calming his agitated heart for a fleeting moment.

Senior Chen bit his tongue sharply, suddenly regretting his quick refusal.

After completing their registration, the group of specially-enrolled students headed to the dormitories.

The living conditions at Bestia Academy were excellent. The F4 had their own private villas, and even students with pale gold nameplates like Pan Ze could live in townhouses. The specially-enrolled students, however, did not receive such treatment.

The dark red exterior walls of their building were already peeling, and the staircase handrails were mottled with rust. Fortunately, the conditions inside the dorms weren’t as bad as imagined. It was a twenty-square-meter, two-person room with loft beds over desks. An air conditioner and a fifty-five-inch small TV were mounted on the wall, and a small, half-height refrigerator stood in the corner.

These conditions were already better than many university dorms from his previous life!

After drawing lots, the students were assigned their respective rooms.

Yan He silently watched as Bai Yuzhou pushed two suitcases into their room, one in each hand. One of them was his.

He was in the same room as the protagonist shou?

Noticing Yan He’s gaze, Bai Yuzhou was quiet for a moment before saying, “Endure it for a while. You can apply to switch rooms.”

Yan He quickly waved his hands and took his suitcase, pushing it into a corner. “I wasn’t thinking that.”

Weak from his fever and cold, Yan He sat down on a chair to rest. He casually picked up the freshman handbook and started flipping through it. The opening page was an introduction to the academy.

“‘Bestia Academy, the name is a transliteration of the Latin word bestia, meaning beast or wild animal?'”

Yan He skimmed ten lines at a glance, then suddenly paused in surprise. “The academy isn’t an all-boys school?!”

Seeing that Yan He wasn’t feeling well, Bai Yuzhou was skillfully sweeping the room. Hearing Yan He’s astonished voice, he looked around to see no one else, figured Yan He was probably talking to him, and nodded in response. “Mn.”

Bestia Academy only recruited students who could transform into beasts. Perhaps because female DNA was more stable, there had never been a case of a female transforming in the entire empire, so the academy had gradually become an all-boys school.

Tucked inside the handbook was a detailed map of the academy. Yan He was speechless. This wasn’t a school; it was like a small kingdom.

In addition to the usual supermarkets and movie theaters, the map also marked a “Colosseum,” a “Wilderness Training Simulation Area,” and a “Discipline Room.”

Yan He: …I guess I just don’t understand you noble academies.

Yan He briefly skimmed the school rules and then, following the instructions in the handbook, downloaded the academy’s exclusive app—”Moe Beast.” All campus-related tasks could be completed on it.

Looking at his class schedule, Yan He felt a headache coming on. Bestia Academy implemented an elite, credit-based education system that covered all subjects. Every field was touched upon, and Zoology was even a required course for all students with a very high credit weight.

For a 996 corporate slave like him to go back to school and study, it was simply going to kill him.

Yan He frowned and clicked into the academy forum. A pop-up box appeared: [To ensure the physical and mental well-being of new students, a feature to automatically block malicious comments will be enabled for the first month after enrollment.]

This place was like a magnificent, giant men’s prison. Under its strict and cold order, beasts on the verge of being driven mad were born, roaring in their cages.

Yan He thought about the Yun family’s young master, one of the F4. He should have been able to get anything he wanted in the academy, yet after just over a year, his emotions were on the brink of collapse. Not to mention the specially-enrolled students. It was reasonable for the academy to introduce such a feature.

The forum was flooded with red-hot posts. Yan He had expected to see Bai Yuzhou’s name, but all the topics revolved around the F4! They were all trending.

Because the F4 was involved, everyone was posting anonymously.

【Ahhh, what’s going on? Young Master Shen was picked up from the academy by his family’s car? I have pictures to prove it! [Image][Image]】

【I have inside info. They said Young Master He hit Young Master Shen. Are the F4 breaking up? Oh god, I can’t accept the F4 going their separate ways!】

【Why? Baby, why? Why are the F4 fighting? Aren’t they the best of friends? What happened?】

【Isn’t Pan Ze an F4 lackey? He went out of his way to block the new students today. Could He and Shen be fighting over a new student? What kind of trashy Mary Sue plot is this!】

【Slightly off-topic, but isn’t our school a closed campus? I haven’t been home in a year. How did Young Master Shen get picked up? Don’t we have a school hospital for treatment?】

Someone replied to the above comment: 【It just so happens that the doctors and specialists from the school hospital are out for a study session today. The F4 questioned whether the remaining interns could properly treat Young Master Shen, so he left. So how bad was the fight? Young Master He didn’t use deadly force, did he?】

【The news must be true. He Ting has been taken to the Discipline Room. The words ‘Discipline Room’ alone make my legs go weak. Young Master He went without a word. What a man!】

【The times are changing… sobs I’m going to go kneel before the Beast God statue right now and pray for the F4 to get back together!】

Compared to bombshell news like a potential F4 breakup, the bullying of new students was utterly insignificant.

The plot point where the protagonist shou, Bai Yuzhou, was supposed to become famous on his first day fizzled out into nothing.

Although they rarely had contact with the F4, the F4 were the leaders of the wealthy scions. The news of their possible breakup made the rich kids who didn’t know the truth increasingly agitated.

The roars of various ferocious beasts rose and fell throughout the campus. The newly arrived specially-enrolled students trembled instinctively, scrambling to shut their non-soundproof doors and windows.

Yan He remembered seeing a black, extended Lincoln with a snake emblem pass by their school bus. It turned out that was Young Master Shen of the Shen family, one of the F4.

Yan He recalled his female colleagues’ descriptions; they had never mentioned a breakup among the F4. He figured this was probably just a minor squabble.

With the F4 in turmoil, Yun Xiao probably wouldn’t have time to bother him for a while. Yan He was happy to have the peace and quiet.

Seeing the entire forum discussing Young Master Shen and the hospital, Yan He felt his backpack pocket, took out a few boxes of cold medicine he’d gotten from a community clinic, and washed them down with some bottled water.

The cold medicine had a sedative effect, so Yan He planned to lie down for a bit.

Drowsiness quickly crept up on him. Not long after falling asleep, Yan He groggily heard his phone vibrating beside his ear. He answered it with his eyes still closed.

“How. Much. Longer. Are you going to make me wait?!!”

A pleasant but extremely irritable young male voice came from the other end of the phone, accompanied by the piercing sound of something shattering.

Yan He jolted awake, staring blankly at the ceiling. He sniffled his stuffy nose, his voice thick with congestion. “Who’s this?”

The male voice on the other end sneered back, “Who do you think I am?”

Yan He’s brain was foggy for a long moment before it finally clicked. This was the Yun family’s young master, Yun Xiao. The one he was supposed to be a study companion—a dog—for.

Weren’t the forums saying the F4 were in the middle of a breakup? He still had the energy to care whether his little lackey had reported for duty on time?

Yan He cursed inwardly but put on a pitiful act. “Young Master Yun, hello. I just took some cold medicine, so my head’s a bit fuzzy.”

“Who cares about that? Come see me right now! I’ll give you one hour,” Yun Xiao said, looking at the broken shards on the floor. Then, thinking of the weak, husky voice on the phone, he scratched his head and barked a new command, “…within three hours.”
