Chapter 16: Very Sweet
Shen Zhuo knew that the following conversation was not something he should be listening to.
“Then I’ll go have my meal first. Can I eat at the cafeteria here?”
The tone was unintentionally soft, like he was coaxing.
Du Xun turned his head, and a ripple of emotion passed through his gray-blue eyes.
He made a call to have the food delivered:
“The military headquarters is mostly alpha. It’s not safe for you to go there alone.”
“I’ll take you back after you’ve finished eating.”
Ji Wei beside him hesitantly asked, “Eh? Isn’t there an omega… Yes, yes, Sister-in-law shouldn’t go alone.”
Shen Zhuo looked at the suddenly silent adjutant, who immediately nodded solemnly.
But he remembered his father had said there was an omega-only cafeteria in the military headquarters.
When his father went on military duties, he would always bring him the candy that was only available at the omega cafeteria.
“So I’ll eat here?”
Shen Zhuo glanced at the spotless sofa. Du Xun probably had never let anyone eat here before.
Du Xun returned to his desk, waving his hand to open the sand table and let Ji Wei come forward, while also responding to Shen Zhuo:
“You can listen.”
Lunch arrived soon, two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, a soup, a yogurt, and a small fruit can.
Shen Zhuo carried the lunchbox to the side sofa and silently unpacked the disposable chopsticks.
The pampered young master wasn’t too particular about his food.
He couldn’t quite understand the professional terms the two alphas were discussing, so he just focused on eating his meal.
By the time he finished eating, the two were still not done chatting.
Du Xun was manipulating the sand table.
The semi-transparent blue sand table showed many insect-like creatures, using tactics to blow up the command room into ruins.
It was like a miniature movie.
Shen Zhuo knew this must not be a simple matter.
Glancing sideways, he saw the youth had finished eating. Du Xun put away the sand table:
“I’ll go to the Northern Military Headquarters to investigate further tomorrow. You can leave first.”
Ji Wei saluted and left. Du Xun immediately noticed the unopened fruit can in Shen Zhuo’s hand.
There was a small, shallow bite mark on the lid.
The omega discreetly turned the can a little.
How cute.
Du Xun reached out with his long arm, casually unscrewing the lid and spearing a small piece with a fork, then handing it to Shen Zhuo.
“Are you full?”
“Thank you…” Shen Zhuo held the can, about to take a bite, but immediately offered it to Du Xun instead:
“I’m full, do you want to eat it?”
The alpha paused for a moment, then bent down and bit the small peach slice on the fork.
The fork was lightly coated with a subtle osmanthus fragrance.
Cool yet sweet.
Just like the omega in front of him.
“It’s very sweet.” He said it with a straight face.
Not sure if he was praising the fruit or something else.
On the way back, Du Xun was silent the entire time.
Shen Zhuo, having finished the fruit can, kept his hands clenched in his lap, not bringing up any topics.
They remained silent throughout the journey. Only when they stopped did Du Xun speak:
“I’ll be a little late for the entrance exam. Be careful on your own.”
There seemed to be some other meaning behind his words.
But Shen Zhuo understood too little to catch it.
The young man nodded and closed the door: “You be careful too.”
On the wide road, the verdant trees and lush grass on both sides.
In the vibrant summer, only Du Xun was left, exuding a sense of coldness and desolation as he departed.
Shen Zhuo suddenly had an uneasy feeling in his heart.
It seemed like something might happen next.

Chapter 17: The Discarded Vase
In the manor, Shen Yuxin was celebrating the 19th wedding anniversary with Jiang Yuening.
To prepare for today, Shen Yuxin had replaced all the seasonal flowers outside the manor with camellias months in advance.
It was Jiang Yuening’s scent.
Shen Zhuo didn’t want to disturb their love.
He walked back to his room, and Xia Dao was already waiting outside.
Seeing Shen Zhuo, the anxious look on the young lady’s face finally calmed down a bit.
“Young Master, you have to see this!”
Shen Zhuo was handed a pink cell phone.
The screen showed the most popular trending topics list, called “Omniscient”.
The first long entry was related to him.
#Shen Zhuo Discarded Vase Broken# Ares Military Academy Entrance Exam List
The entrance exam was in three days, and the list had just been made public.
Shen Zhuo clicked in and saw that most of the comments were one-sided.
Some said he should go to the entertainment industry rather than treating the military academy as a plaything.
There were also comments saying that as a D-rank omega, he shouldn’t even be able to apply to Ares, the academy must have gone blind.
Only a few comments encouraged him, saying that for an omega to apply to the military academy was already courageous enough.
As he scrolled down, there were a few comments that made Shen Zhuo laugh out loud.
【AA Seafood Wholesale Wang-ge: D-rank omega? Isn’t that just a useless thing that can only give birth to children? He must have used ‘backdoor’ connections to get into Ares (if you know what I mean)】
【Bad Name: Backdoor? The biggest backdoor is that he got discarded by the Second Prince, right? The Second Prince didn’t even want him, maybe he’s a used good, can’t even give birth to children haha】
【AA Seafood Wholesale Wang-ge: You’re right, I forgot, he was discarded the day before the wedding. Maybe he was secretly sleeping around with someone and got caught】
【Bad Name: Who knows, maybe he already has a bun in the oven haha haha, tsk tsk, I would’ve liked to try the taste of the former Imperial Consort, too bad, even if someone gave him to me now I wouldn’t take him】
“But Young Master isn’t a D-rank omega! Let alone the things they’re saying!”
The young lady was so angry her face turned red.
Shen Zhuo returned the phone to her, smiling to soothe her:
“The innocent will be vindicated, they’ll know the truth eventually.”
Everyone in the Empire is tested for rank when they’re born, and again when they come of age.
Most people’s abilities manifest around the age of majority.
The better one’s innate talent, the earlier their abilities develop.
Shen Zhuo was an example of this.
When he was first born, he was indeed a D-rank omega.
It’s just that later, after his abilities manifested, Shen Yuxin kept it hidden.
After all, the surface of the Empire may seem calm, but undercurrents are churning beneath.
A 10-year-old ability gland can fetch over 15 billion on the black market.
As for those rumors.
Shen Zhuo couldn’t be bothered.
He’s not a veterinarian, he can’t cure small-brain atrophy.
Shen Zhuo took out his own phone, originally wanting to go downstairs.
Suddenly, he saw a comment that had been liked to the top within minutes.
【Qingming Season: I’m also an omega, and I’m on the list too. I think both Shen-xiansheng and I just want to prove that omegas can also be capable of serving on the frontlines and contributing to the Empire. Please give us a little encouragement.】
A scent of white lotus.
There were already tens of thousands of comments below.
This ID…
Why does it seem so familiar?
“This is Xun Qing, the Second Prince’s wife. ‘Qingming Season’ is their CP name.”
Shen Zhuo: “…”
Is that not an ominous name?
Shen Zhuo clicked on the comments, which were all praising Xun Qing as “Second Imperial Consort is so badass”, “I’m a fan”, “This is the true omega light”.
Completely different from the comments on his entry.
“Young Master… What does this mean! Isn’t this just dragging you down?”
Xia Dao was so angry she almost cried.
Everyone knew Xun Qing was the Empire’s rare A-rank omega.
Shen Zhuo’s expression was calm, even cold.
He quickly typed a few words and clicked send.
