Chapter 151: Extra (An Le) – Final Chapter
One month later.
An Le stood in the park, holding up his phone and taking pictures of Lu Heng with a slight pout. The last time, he had mistaken someone else for him because of his bad eyesight. Although Lu Heng hadn’t blamed him, after taking him to the hospital to get his eyes fixed, he would now pull him out for a photoshoot every so often.
The weather was gradually getting warmer. An Le was wearing a t-shirt and a blue shirt over it. Standing under a tree, the corners of his shirt fluttered in the breeze. He lowered his phone. “All done.”
Lu Heng, who had been sitting on a bench, stood up and walked over. “Let me see,” he said in a low voice.
An Le handed him the phone. Lu Heng looked at the pictures and nodded in satisfaction. “Not bad.” The photos were quite good. He smiled, handed the phone back to An Le, and slung an arm around his shoulders. “Come on, let’s go home.”
“Mm.”
An Le nodded, looking at the photos on his phone as he walked. “Sir, I can see much more clearly than before.”
More than two years had passed, and technology had advanced quite a bit. An Le’s eyes had recovered to the point where they were no different from a normal person’s. He would never mistake someone again because he couldn’t see their face. But Lu Heng was still bothered by it. Though he never said it out loud, he would occasionally show An Le a group photo of a bunch of alphas and ask, “Where am I?”
An Le was speechless. He suddenly felt that Lu Heng was being so childish. He had mistaken the person before because he was too far away to see, but now his eyes were fine, and they were so close. How could he possibly get it wrong? So, every time, he would point to Lu Heng in the photo and say in a small voice, “Sir is right here.”
As long as he answered, Lu Heng would be very happy, and he would keep asking him to take pictures. An Le didn’t understand why, but he did it anyway. Now, after only two months, his phone was completely filled with photos of Lu Heng.
After they got home, a call came from Xiao Xiao. An Le quickly answered. “Xiao Xiao, when are you coming back?” Xiao Xiao had recently gone abroad for work and should be returning in the next few days. He wanted to ask him out for barbecue; they hadn’t gone in a long time.
“I’ll be back tomorrow,” Xiao Xiao said. “What about you? What happened with that scam hospital?”
An Le thought for a moment. “Sir sued them. They paid us compensation. And… it wasn’t just us who got scammed. There were many others.”
That scam hospital couldn’t give a reasonable explanation and was taken to court by Lu Heng. Only then did they discover that An Le wasn’t the only one who had been deceived. Those other people had caused a fuss at the hospital before, but it had always been suppressed. After Lu Heng sued them, the hospital couldn’t recover, and the people who had been scammed before all came forward to accuse them. The director got scared and tried to run away with the money in the middle of the night, but he was caught. Not only did he have to pay compensation, but he also went to jail.
“They scammed so many people, and they only had to pay money?” Xiao Xiao asked. A hospital wasn’t like other scams. Other scammers just took your money, but if a hospital wasn’t careful, they weren’t just scamming you out of money, but also your health. In serious cases, it could even cost you your life. If something like that happened and they only had to pay, that was truly dark.
“He went to jail, too,” An Le said.
“Well, that’s more like it,” Xiao Xiao replied. “Cheating patients out of their money, that’s just heartless. You can’t let people like that get away.”
An Le nodded in agreement. “Mm, Sir handled it all,” he said quietly. “When are you coming back tomorrow? I want to go get barbecue.”
“In the morning,” Xiao Xiao said with a laugh. “I’ll come find you after I get some sleep. We can go together at night.”
An Le was overjoyed. “I want a present,” he said in a small voice.
“I’ve already got it ready for you.”
An Le laughed. He chatted with Xiao Xiao for a little while longer before hanging up. Just as he was about to go find Lu Heng, he noticed Lu Heng was also on the phone. So, he waited quietly to the side. It wasn’t until Lu Heng had finished his call that he went over, threw himself into his arms, and asked with a smile, “Who were you on the phone with, Sir?”
“Li Jie.” Lu Heng bent down, lifted An Le into his arms, and started walking toward the bedroom. “He’s just taken on a new apprentice and was asking if I could offer him a job.” Two years ago, Li Jie had resigned and started his own bodyguard training agency. Whenever he had a particularly promising student, he would call Lu Heng and ask if there was a suitable position.
An Le wrapped his arms around Lu Heng’s neck. “So, are you going to give him one, Sir?”
Lu Heng carried him into the bathroom, placed him directly in the bathtub, and started filling it with water. “Does Lele want me to?”
An Le sat in the tub, watching the water cover his ankles. He asked, a little dazed, “What does this have to do with me? I don’t even know him.”
Lu Heng stood up straight and started unbuttoning his own shirt. “I don’t need any more bodyguards right now. The only empty spot is by your side. If you want a bodyguard, I’ll give him the job. If you don’t, I won’t.”
An Le understood. Whether Li Jie’s apprentice got a job or not was all up to him. Li Jie had been very good to him in the past, so he shouldn’t refuse. But he really didn’t want a bodyguard following him around all the time. He had already learned how to survive in society, and he was even interning at Lu Heng’s company. He wasn’t as easily bullied as before, and his life was gradually getting back on track. He didn’t like having someone follow him everywhere.
So, he shook his head. “Sir, I don’t want a bodyguard,” he said in a small voice. “But I don’t want him to be jobless, either.”
Lu Heng finished undressing himself, then unbuttoned An Le’s shirt, one by one, and took it off. “Okay,” he said. “I’ll arrange it.”
An Le was about to say something, but Lu Heng was already getting into the bathtub…
After they got out, An Le was completely exhausted and didn’t want to move, hiding in Lu Heng’s arms. They lay by the window, watching the city’s night view, feeling utterly content.
An Le fell asleep and dreamed of his past life: being bullied, being tortured, then meeting Xiao Xiao, meeting Lu Heng… So many years passed like a slideshow in his dream, making him cry, making him laugh, making him feel happy.
When he opened his eyes, it was already late at night. Lu Heng was holding him, and they were back in bed. Looking at Lu Heng’s sleeping face, his handsome features seemed less fierce. And, for him, Lu Heng had even gotten rid of the scar at the end of his eyebrow.
An Le couldn’t describe the feeling in his heart. He hesitated for a moment, then quietly climbed up and kissed the corner of Lu Heng’s eye.
Then, in the smallest whisper, he said, “Sir, I love you.”
He was about to lie back down to sleep, but Lu Heng suddenly opened his eyes. “I love you too,” he said in a low voice.
An Le was stunned for a second. “Sir, you weren’t asleep?”
“No,” Lu Heng said. “I just carried you back.”
An Le was speechless. He couldn’t help but feel shy, his face turning red as he hid in Lu Heng’s arms, refusing to come out.
Lu Heng held him and laughed softly, every sound, every frequency, filled with the taste of happiness…
