Supernatural Idols Chapter 1.2

Chapter 1 part 2

Berlin always knew that whales’ eyes were human-like; when enlarged, they were very similar to human eyes.

Whether the underwater creature was a whale, Berlin wasn’t sure. But its huge body was endless, its wrinkled skin mottled, and its small round eyes had no whites, the dark pupils did not transmit light, staring at him silently.

Uncanny valley effect.

The visual impact was quite strong.

Berlin silently stared at it for a few seconds: “…”

Then, that familiar ominous feeling arose. He painfully and numbly saw a golden number slowly appearing above the indescribable giant under the sea.

He couldn’t see the initial value. In the short few seconds of eye contact, it climbed rapidly at a terrifying speed, finally stopping at 99.

Berlin watched as the unknown, huge, ferocious non-human creature slowly blinked its round eyes, which were vaguely covered in water mist. Its mountain-like back rose, its tail fin emerging from beneath the sea, and the moment it slapped down, a terrifying wave was about to engulf the ship!

Berlin: “…”

Stay calm, we have species barriers, it’s impossible!!

Help!!

The ship was lifted by the suddenly surging waves, like a swaying leaf, about to be swallowed by the sea in an instant.

Berlin was caught in an invisible force and uncontrollably fell downwards.

Just as he was about to fall off the railing, a flawless, smooth hand firmly grasped his collar, easily pulling him to his side.

Jiang Shuiran lowered his thick eyelashes, his voice gentle, with a hint of comfort: “Are you okay?”

At the same time, the ship was controlled by some force and instantly regained its stability. The people on the ship didn’t even realize what had happened.

Berlin paused for two seconds, touching the back of his head: “I’m fine, I just lost my footing.”

Jiang Shuiran frowned slightly, confused, wondering what had gotten into the usually well-behaved Savoy.

He closed his eyes and sensed it, compressing the instantly erupting source energy before it exceeded the safe threshold, gathering it in his palm.

It was still one of his kin, and even though he wasn’t sure why it suddenly went crazy, he still had to protect it.

He couldn’t just let it get into trouble and become free labor for the humans.

There was no one else on the deck, the huge wave rose and disappeared without a trace in a blink of an eye, as if it had never appeared. The sea was still calm, as if nothing had happened.

Berlin took a deep breath, feeling relieved, and vaguely heard the staff’s confused murmurs.

“…Am I seasick and hallucinating? Did you feel the ship shake violently just now, like a huge wave was about to crash down?”

“Huh? Are you too tired? You’re starting to talk nonsense.”

“Ugh, I really should get less sleep, I’m getting sick from overworking.”

Jiang Shuiran had prevented his thoughtless kin from triggering an alarm, impatiently frowning, wondering what was wrong with it.

Then, a huge crack appeared on the head of the giant creature in the sea, revealing sharp, frightening teeth, its bloody maw opening fiercely towards Berlin.

Lower-level kin who could not transform always had uncontrollable bloodthirsty instincts, attacking humans for no reason.

Just as Jiang Shuiran’s eyes turned cold, about to give it a warning… he saw a golden flower blooming in its mouth, full of transparent mucus.

The flower bloomed in the ugly and terrifying monster’s mouth, shining brightly, exuding a strange and incongruous, unparalleled beauty.

Even the darkest creatures can have pure feelings.

The sea monster, Savoy, was just a small fry to Jiang Shuiran, though it was a dominant force in the sea, far beyond the control of ordinary humans.

However, once one obtained the golden flower offered by Savoy, one could completely control it. To live or to die, it would obey.

A Savoy could only nurture one golden flower in its lifetime, unaffected by species. Once accepted, Savoy could transform into the same species as its partner, but its power would be reduced to 50% of its original strength.

At this moment, Savoy was trying to lift the flower, wanting Berlin to pick it.

It wasn’t trying to attack the ship, it was… proposing.

With Savoy’s intelligence, it probably wasn’t trying to destroy the ship and drag Berlin into the sea to drown him; it simply didn’t understand that humans couldn’t survive underwater for a few minutes.

Jiang Shuiran: “…”

He stared at the bold sea monster with an indescribable dark look, his expression strange.

The flow of air around him stagnated for a moment.

Jiang Shuiran’s gaze was fixed on Berlin.

The unknowing Berlin: “?”

The mermaid’s eyelashes, with his inhuman beauty, fluttered twice, and he casually opened his white and slender fingers.

The next second, the source energy that had been suppressed in his palm was released.

The silly Savoy’s round eyes widened slightly.

The changes before and after were beyond its intelligence.

Jiang Shuiran rubbed the apple in his hand, a cold smile in his eyes, and took a bite. It didn’t matter if it tasted bland; Berlin gave it to him, so he would naturally eat it all, not wasting a bit.

He didn’t even look at Savoy in the sea.

Jiang Shuiran: I’ve changed my mind.

There were plenty of kin, he didn’t need this one.

Go to jail, and work for the management bureau until the end of time, and never come out again.

Almost the moment the source energy was released, a sharp, piercing alarm suddenly sounded.

The alarm blared.

In the untraceable underwater prison, a man was awakened from a half-sleep by the alarm and grumbled irritably.

“Damn thing, never ends…”

He was wearing a dark blue uniform jacket, his shirt wrinkled, his long legs, encased in black straight military boots, crossed and casually resting on the table.

On the expensive precision testing instrument was a box of instant noodles, with a thick book pressed on top. The cover was worn and rolled up, and a scribbled line was written on the bottom right, barely legible: [Supernatural Creature Management Bureau Confidential Department / General Office Third Department].

The man with the handsome face had dark circles under his eyes from all-night work, and a circle of new stubble on his chin. Instead of looking sloppy, it added a mature and handsome charm.

The documents on the desk were piled up into a mountain, and a metal nameplate, almost squeezed off the desk, read: [General Office Confidential Third Department / Gu Zexi].

A knock came at the door. Gu Zexi rubbed his temples with a dark expression, without turning his head: “Come in.”

A young man, at most twenty years old, hurriedly stepped into Gu Zexi’s office.

“Cough, cough.” The deputy coughed twice as soon as he entered the room: “Boss, I’m not saying, but smoke less.”

He glanced at the things on the table, his mouth running, muttering: “And stop eating instant noodles. Although takeout can’t be delivered, there’s the canteen, I’ll bring you some but you don’t eat it, it won’t take a few minutes… And bro, shave. People don’t know how old you are!”

“I shaved last night. It grew back overnight, excess hormones.” Gu Zexi straightened up neatly after taking a gulp of black coffee, succinctly saying: “Report.”

Gu Zexi did have a face of excess hormones. The deputy twitched the corner of his mouth, wanting to retort but giving up according to his nature, lowering his head to check the monitoring data.

The deputy closed his mouth and opened the latest record: “Abnormal non-natural energy fluctuations were detected in the waters near Lixin Island. Coincidentally, when checking back, it’s unclear if it was intentional, but three minutes before the initial detection of the energy fluctuations, the peak value was exactly at the highest limit stipulated by the ‘Rules,’ only 0.01 less than the upper limit of 300, extremely precise control, it looks like a deliberate provocation.”

There were precedents. Those notorious troublemakers were numerous, making the Confidential Department’s blood pressure rise, and they were always on the edge of the limit, so there was nothing they could do about them.

Since the impact was caused, they had to act, but they hadn’t violated the alliance agreement.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Humans didn’t have an overwhelming advantage over supernatural creatures, and were even more in need of hiding their existence. Both sides had signed contracts for peaceful coexistence and cooperation, not unilateral suppression. Not only could the use of energy not be completely restricted, but minor incidents would be turned a blind eye to, and they would even help them clean up the mess to control the impact.

“But I don’t know why, the energy fluctuation suddenly soared from zero to a new peak in a short period of time, instantly exceeding 300.” The deputy paused for a moment, a little confused, concluding: “The source of the energy has been located and traced. The energy released before and after came from the same individual. It can be captured.”

The energy fluctuations released by each supernatural creature are different, and except for special species beyond the management bureau’s jurisdiction, they are all registered and will not be mistaken.

Could it be a trap, deliberately luring them over?

Gu Zexi: “Check who else is nearby.”

The deputy quickly brought up the satellite detection images, stunned for a moment, turned the display screen to Gu Zexi: “Skye is shooting on Lixin Island today.”

Gu Zexi looked at the image.

The captured dynamic images were very clear. Gu Zexi’s gaze paused on Jiang Shuiran for a while, then landed on another person on the deck.

His black hair was blown back by the sea breeze. Coincidentally, he happened to look up at the sky, as if looking through time and space, making eye contact with the person in front of the screen.

Those clear black eyes were extremely bright and dazzling.

Compared to the other mysterious and inhumanly beautiful teammates, his presence was not low.

Like a beam of unmistakable light, penetrating the dark seabed.

Gu Zexi frowned.

…Why is it him again?
