Chapter 8
On his first day on the job, after surveying the villa and the surrounding gardens, He Yuan’s first thought was to plant roses everywhere, to match Wen Su’s “General of Roses” title, and to give him a surprise.
So he didn’t say anything beforehand, and worked during Wen Su’s team-building trip, specifically instructing the robot butler not to record this in the log.
“I didn’t expect it to still be a little unfinished!”
He Yuan explained to Wen Su, both pleased and regretful.
“Once I level the soil here, plant the coordinating greenery, and put a vintage-style music box decorated with dried rose petals, the rose garden will be truly complete!”
He Yuan took off the rose crown from his head and hung it on the music box, shaking his hair, stepping back a bit to admire, murmuring to himself like a great designer.
Wen Su observed him, his eyes filled with regret that the crown had been removed from its ideal placement.
“Mm… We’ll do that later. The most important thing now is to welcome you back, let me start cooking right away! You can have some tea first, then take a bath. I’ve prepared new loungewear for you, it’s hanging in the wardrobe outside the bathroom!”
The still-dazed Wen Su was led by He Yuan into the living room, obediently drinking tea, going upstairs to bathe and change into the new clothes.
The lightweight cream-white knitted sweater and soft gray casual pants felt soft and gentle, very different from the uniform robes he was used to.
Looking at himself in the mirror, he recalled his father’s recent lecture.
Something about identity and influence, utterly boring.
Going downstairs to the dining room, the savory aroma of the dishes wafted over, and He Yuan was playing another round of his dress-up game, transforming from the forest’s little prince gardener to a neat and fresh-faced home cook, wearing a tall chef’s hat, one hand holding a spatula, the other waving vigorously.
“Welcome back, General Sir! Meal is served!”
Lifting the lids, there were pan-seared steak, steamed lobster, chicken breast salad, mandarin fish tofu mushroom soup, buttered toast, and ice cream cake…
Wen Su was even more disoriented, hazily deciding, “You join me for the meal.”
He Yuan paused, his beautiful big eyes shining with surprise.
Wen Su felt a little impatient, “Don’t make me say it twice.”
Omegas are indeed still Omegas, can’t help but put on airs, but it’s still acceptable, within his tolerance.
“Alright then, thank you, General Sir!”
Though puzzled, as a subordinate the priority was to be obedient. He Yuan went back to the kitchen, bringing out a plate of toast and a bowl of noodles.
“What’s this?” Wen Su asked curiously.
“My lunch.” He Yuan said matter-of-factly.
Wen Su scanned the feast on the table with even more curiosity.
He Yuan explained with a smile, “I’m a life assistant, of course my meal standards aren’t the same as yours.”
Wen Su frowned, thinking, don’t pretend, who doesn’t know that “life assistant” is just an excuse.
Of course it’s also his own fault for refusing too obviously and firmly earlier. The omega wants to stay, but is thin-skinned, so he must have found an excuse to justify it and make it seem real.
“Eat together, share half your noodles with me.” He finally said the second time, also cutting off half the steak, lobster, salad, soup, and cake, pushing them towards He Yuan.
“Oh… Okay.” He Yuan was a bit dazed, slowly dividing the noodles, feeling that the General Wen today was really quite strange.
But strange or not, General Wen was clearly more intimate with him, which meant his assistant work was done well.
Pondering this, He Yuan became happy, and talked more.
“General Sir, if you don’t have any special instructions this afternoon, I’ll go finish up the garden work, so we can see the full view tonight! Thanks to the robot butler, most of the work was done by it! Without it, there’s no way I could have built a garden in just a few days!”
Wen Su was a man of few words, which He Yuan knew, so he talked about his own things, sharing, not caring whether there was a response or not, and would ask questions when he really wanted a response –
“By the way, General Sir, why haven’t you given the robot butler a name? It’s so inconvenient to just call it that. And this capable and mighty robot butler should have a prestigious name! Let’s give it one!”
He Yuan stood up for his good colleague.
But Wen Su’s mood was very complicated, thinking of the “He Yuan exclusive” log recorded by the robot butler, decisively refusing, “No need.”
He Yuan was unexpectedly taken aback, it was just giving a name, after all.
His dejected expression was fully observed by Wen Su, who said even more firmly, “There’s no need.”
Capable and mighty robot butler…
Liking capable and mighty, isn’t he enough?
This question had been lingering in his mind, until after finishing the meal and returning to the bedroom, he even specifically stood in front of the dresser mirror to confirm.
Then suddenly, he was awakened by the other self in the mirror.
A chill ran down his spine, and he began to question the various emotions that had arisen since the moment he returned and saw He Yuan.
To be honest, when his father was forcing him into an arranged marriage, he had momentarily thought about dragging He Yuan out to deal with it.
Just a fleeting moment, not even a second, but he had firmly rejected this ridiculous and horrible idea.
This was not something a mature and strong Alpha should do, he shouldn’t even have entertained the thought.
Was it because he had been with the weak omega for too long, and was influenced by him?
How could he be influenced by an omega?
Although he understood and respected the omega’s affection for him, he should not linger on it, should not be trapped.
These recent days were like a frog in slowly boiling water, which was truly terrifying.
At night, the rose garden was completed, and Wen Su looked down from the second-floor window. Under the moonlight and the lamps, the pink roses were arranged in an orderly and diverse pattern, truly beautiful.
He Yuan continued to play his dress-up game, now wearing sportswear, stretching his limbs like dancing, doing meaningless warm-up exercises for his night run.
Wen Su watched for a long time, enduring for a long time, finally pulling the curtain, cutting off the impulse to go help him correct it.
Even if he can’t immediately brutally drive him away for the omega’s self-esteem, he still has to find a way to make him understand that they are clearly separated.
Rarely thinking about such a complicated matter, Wen Su dozed off near dawn, but woke up on time according to his biological clock and went downstairs for breakfast.
Today, how should he do to extinguish the omega’s overflowing enthusiasm, thinking they have become close?
…Huh?
Why does the omega seem to have already sensed something, standing dejectedly at the dining table, his expression deeply dejected.
Even more dejected, he said, “I’m sorry, General Sir, but I need to ask for leave… The school suddenly has a very important matter, it may take three days or even five days. I will work hard to get it done quickly and then come back. Please approve it! I’ve only been on the job for a short while and now I have to ask for leave, I’m really very sorry…”
Wen Su: ?
Did he hear wrong? The omega took the initiative before him? A feigned withdrawal tactic?
Sure enough, deep-scheming.
Hmph, daring to play tactics with him, he’ll die a miserable death.
Wen Su’s chest was instantly ignited, crossing his arms and looking into He Yuan’s humble gaze, coldly saying, “Approved, go wherever you want, however long you want, it’s best if you don’t come back.”
He Yuan paused.
This sounds…
Extremely weird?
