Chapter 12
With a single punch, the wooden prison door was smashed to pieces. Outside was a long corridor, and a squad of guards with guns rushed toward them.
Wen Su was unarmed, but with almost every punch, he took down a guard, swiftly disarming one and grabbing a gun. From there, it was as though he was in a game with cheat codes. He alternated between precise shots, slipping through gaps between guards, kicking off walls for leverage, crouching and leaping, or charging head-on.
He Yuan, on the other hand, occasionally widened his eyes in shock, sometimes squeezed them shut, sometimes gasped, and sometimes held his breath. He was like a nesting doll, perfectly shielded by Wen Su, passively executing all sorts of high-difficulty moves.
Each time he thought, “This is it, I’m definitely going to get hit,” but in reality, he never did.
The light at the end of the corridor grew brighter and brighter until finally, they stood firmly at the exit.
“Hu… hu… hu…”Â
He Yuan bent over, hands on his knees, panting heavily. When he looked back, Wen Su was completely calm, as if nothing had happened.
He Yuan was beginning to understand now. Wen Su bringing him along was like resistance training or a hostage rescue mission — a higher standard of training!
At that moment, a system notification rang out:
“Congratulations on clearing the ‘Escape Chapter.’ Achievement unlocked: No Damage. Record set: Shortest Completion Time in the entire system.”
He Yuan: !!!
It was obvious this was Wen Su’s first time playing these games, yet he was so skilled!
As expected from the top combat force! The strongest Alpha!
He Yuan’s cheeks flushed, his eyes full of admiration. He asked, “Admiral, shall we continue to the next chapter?”
Wen Su replied, “Let’s switch to something else.”
Exiting the game, Wen Su repeatedly browsed the home screen list before finally entering a comic-style scene.
Both of them turned into paper characters, and the gameplay was simple — punching flying rats out of the air.
Ah, so Admiral Wen Su wanted to try out several different games—
That was what He Yuan thought.
But in reality, Wen Su’s thoughts were—
In a combat game, an Omega would be knocked out with one punch; in story mode, an Omega might feel a sense of accomplishment, but after a minute or so, they’d be exhausted. It wasn’t suitable.
The only way to keep playing was to lower the difficulty and intensity, switching to these children’s games.
Of course, he still had to hold He Yuan from behind to help him with the moves — this “playing the Omega as the Omega plays the game” mode. But this time, there was a relatively longer reaction time, so the Omega could actually punch on his own. This allowed Wen Su to better guide the Omega in adjusting his angles, force, and speed. When the flying rats came too fast or in too large numbers, Wen Su’s experience would solve the situation perfectly, and the Omega could learn tactics from it.
The Omega visibly grew happier and more engaged.
And soon, Wen Su miraculously realized something — he seemed to be enjoying himself too… and was getting more and more involved.
Oddly enough, it was happening in a children’s game.
The fragile Omega, after only ten minutes of rat-punching, was already panting again, but this time it was an excited panting, with no intention of stopping.
Naturally, Wen Su continued.
As the levels increased in difficulty, so did the intensity, and the Omega began to sweat.
In the holographic scene, even though the paper characters sweated, they still looked fresh, but in reality, by He Yuan’s ears and along his face, heat and a fragrance began to rise.
Was it perfume? Or pheromones?
Ah, he didn’t even know what He Yuan’s pheromones smelled like.
It would be rude to ask directly, but…
At this moment, Wen Su unexpectedly found himself quite curious.
The scent grew stronger as the heat increased.
Wen Su felt his own breathing quicken, and a light layer of sweat appeared.
For such a small amount of exertion, it was impossible for him to be having a physiological reaction. It could only be…
As he wavered, the Omega in his arms suddenly turned around, his radiant smile magnified from so close: “Admiral, we’re down to the last level! The hardest one! Do you think we can clear it in one go?”
Thump-thump.
The sound of his heartbeat was deafening.
For the first time, Wen Su realized his body could act without his mind’s control. Though his thoughts were still in disarray, he actually responded with a quiet “Mm,” followed by an unusual swallow, then tightened his hold on the Omega.
He held him even tighter than before.
With Wen Su’s top-tier combat skills, a children’s game was naturally cleared in one go.
But for someone like He Yuan, who had no gaming experience, the final level was quite challenging.
He Yuan was fully focused, trying his best to keep up with Wen Su’s pace, but there were still many moments where he couldn’t react fast enough!
Even so, he was happy to have cleared the game. But he was both happy and exhausted, having exceeded his physical and mental limits for the day. He collapsed on the ground, arms and legs spread out, chest heaving, his face showing a mix of victory and fatigue.
“Admiral, I’m sorry. I… I need to rest for a bit.”
Wen Su stood quietly next to him, watching.
The fragile Omega had indeed been pushed hard.
Adjustments to the intensity were needed.
Once again, Wen Su’s body reacted on its own.
The scent of tequila-like pheromones slowly and lightly filled the room.
As expected, He Yuan became intoxicated again. From lying flat, he turned onto his side, curling up like a shrimp, his whole body slipping into a daze.
“…Mm, Admiral, you… again…”
“Mm. This will help you rest better.”
“It does… Mm, I’m so tired.”
“Because you’re too weak.” This time Wen Su’s words carried no judgment, just ease, even a hint of unconscious fondness.
“That’s why I want to get stronger…”
“Why do you want to get stronger?”
“Because only by getting stronger can I… stay by your side…”
To work.
He didn’t finish the sentence before drifting to sleep.
Wen Su’s expression remained calm, but waves surged in his heart.
After a moment, he took off his jacket and draped it over He Yuan, then sat down, placing his hand on top of He Yuan’s head. Looking at his slightly intoxicated, adorable face, he whispered, “Then I’ll help you get stronger.”
…
It wasn’t the first time He Yuan had been knocked out by Wen Su’s pheromones. It was normal for an Alpha to accidentally release pheromones during physical exertion. But this time, when he woke up, he wasn’t in his own bedroom like last time. Instead, he was still in the same place, with…
Admiral Wen Su’s jacket covering him?!
Admiral Wen Su was still here too, sitting with his back to He Yuan at a small round table, a virtual screen glowing on the table.
…Was he working? Here?
He Yuan couldn’t tell if this was a dream or reality. He sat up and cautiously called out, “Admiral?”
“Mm.” Wen Su responded immediately but didn’t turn around, as if he was busy.
It was real.
The initial grogginess faded, and He Yuan’s mind began to clear. Holding Wen Su’s jacket, he stood up and checked the time. Oh no! It was already past lunchtime!
“Admiral, I’m so sorry, I… I… I…”
“I’ve had the official meal pack.” Wen Su replied succinctly. He clearly understood what He Yuan was panicking about. “It’s fine to skip a meal occasionally.”
He Yuan stood there feeling a bit guilty, thinking, true, but…
“In three days, I need to attend a meeting at Xingyuan University. Do you want to come with me?”
He Yuan was taken aback.
Being invited to accompany Wen Su to such an event meant that the Admiral was recognizing him more and more! And Xingyuan University was his alma mater!
He Yuan was overjoyed and nodded enthusiastically: “I’ll go! Thank you, Admiral!”
It was just a casual invitation, yet it made He Yuan so happy. He really was a simple and easily satisfied Omega.
And when he was happy, simple, and satisfied, he was also incredibly, incredibly cute.
“Cute is the highest form of praise.”
That thought surfaced again, and Wen Su frowned slightly.
How many times had he thought He Yuan was cute? Maybe he should start counting from next time?
Xingyuan University was the best comprehensive university in the entire Xingyuan Alliance. Recently, they had been planning to establish a military academy on par with the military’s own academies, and Wen Su had been invited to attend the preliminary feasibility discussions.
Before the trip, He Yuan thought it over carefully—
First, as a life assistant, his responsibilities didn’t include Wen Su’s work. Second, the military academy plan was still just a concept, and the fewer people who knew about it, the better. Lastly, his participation in the life assistant project for officers was also confidential.
So, it would be better if he didn’t follow Wen Su to the meeting. He’d just wander around the campus, visit the library, or chat with classmates. It would be like a rare vacation!
Oh, and he had to buy the most popular dessert from the school cafeteria for Admiral Wen Su!
They missed out last time, so this time he had to make up for it!
As for telling Wen Su he didn’t want to attend the meeting, the Admiral naturally didn’t object.
The sun was shining beautifully. He Yuan first went to the library to read. After over an hour, his brain felt a little tired, so he left the library and strolled along the tree-lined paths of the campus.
It had been so long since he’d seen so many people!
Students were walking in groups, some laughing, some hanging out, others playing basketball…
Compared to this, the officer’s quarters were indeed more isolated, even though the facilities were top-notch. No wonder there were projects aimed at improving the officers’ quality of life.
And the openness and joy before him were only possible because of the hard work and sacrifices of officers like Wen Su…
“He Yuan?!”
A sudden shout came from behind.
He Yuan turned around to see two people standing there. They were from the student project team, both a grade higher than him.
He Yuan raised his hand with a smile, but before he could greet them, one of them stepped forward, his face dark: “It’s really you? Weren’t you on leave? How can you just come back?… You still have the nerve to show your face here?”
He Yuan froze.
…What was this about???
