Part 5
No, maybe not anymore. It might have been stolen.
Hao Yan was introducing everything here to Ning Yunyi when his wristband beeped. He looked at it and enthusiastically asked Ning Yunyi, “Mr. Bai, do you want to go to the auction house on the top floor ahead? My friend says there are a lot of long-lost good items being auctioned later. I heard there’s some family heirloom Ancient Compass, said to be an old object from the Ancient Blue Star with thousands of years of history.”
“Ancient Compass?” Young Master Bai frowned and asked suddenly.
Ning Yunyi looked over. Bai leaned in and whispered, “Father said City Lord Xuan had a collection piece, which was exactly an Ancient Compass. But I don’t know if it’s the same one.”
Even the collection pieces were being auctioned. If it was true, City Lord Xuan’s situation might be worse than imagined.
Ning Yunyi thought the same. He looked at Hao Yan. “We don’t have an invitation. Can we go?”
Hao Yan patted his chest. “Sure. My friend knows the junior manager of this Underground City. Just a greeting will do.”
Soon, Hao Yan took Ning Yunyi’s group to that building.
It occupied a vast area. Entering through the main gate, the interior was grand, with a magnificent sense of solemnity.
They were led to the top floor. Upon arrival, the guard swiped a card to open the door. The heavy floating stone door opened from the middle, revealing a passage wide enough for one person.
Hao Yan went in first. The group continued forward quickly.
Ning Yunyi realized this was only the first gate. Walking further in, there were five checkpoints in total.
When the last door opened, a buzzing sound came from inside. It was very lively. The entire hall was resplendent, giving the illusion of a banquet hall.
Except for a platform visible at the very front, currently covered entirely by heavy black silk from the top, obscuring whatever was inside. Spiritual Power couldn’t probe it either.
As soon as Hao Yan appeared, his friend came over.
It was a young man of similar age, also with green-dyed hair.
Ning Yunyi looked at the two green heads together, plus that tuft of fluffy braid, now puffing out as they lowered their heads, looking like two pineapple heads.
Ning Yunyi had a weird expression, curious if these two trendy young men knew what “green on top of the head” symbolized.
Clearly, Hao Yan didn’t know. He excitedly introduced his friend.
Hearing that two of them were S-rank Spiritual Power powerhouses, the friend was very enthusiastic.
Young Master Bai immediately utilized his talent as a social butterfly. After a few exchanges, he figured out the background of Hao Yan and this friend completely.
When it was about time, the music in the hall stopped. The heavy black curtain in front finally opened from the middle.
It revealed a platform covered in a red carpet.
A man stepped forward, smiling before speaking, revealing wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. Dressed in a sharp suit, he looked decent, gentle, and elegant.
The friend whispered an introduction. “That’s the grand manager of the Underground City in this district. Don’t know his name; everyone calls him the ‘Young Master’ (Shao Dong Jia). Heard he’s the adopted son of the Underground City Lord. He manages the daily affairs of the Underground City externally.”
Young Master Bai’s eyelid twitched. He had never heard his father mention any ‘Young Master,’ nor that City Lord Xuan had an adopted son.
But his father didn’t mention much; maybe he just hadn’t brought it up specifically.
Ning Yunyi looked at the middle-aged man on stage thoughtfully. He sensed the man’s Spiritual Power wasn’t low. He was deliberately hiding his strength; externally, he showed Double-S Spiritual Power.
After speaking, the man walked down, standing below the stage watching the emcee come up to host the auction.
Soon, the first auction item came out. It was indeed an Ancient Compass.
The guests hadn’t expected the first item of this casual auction to be so explosive. Someone bid immediately.
Young Master Bai shrank the image City Lord Bai sent to his wristband for Ning Yunyi to see. The one on stage was indeed City Lord Xuan’s piece.
Ning Yunyi took a deep look at the so-called ‘Young Master’ and raised his hand, signaling Young Master Bai to bid.
As soon as Young Master Bai bid, he doubled the previous guest’s offer.
The people present had never seen such bidding. They all turned to look, finding this standing group particularly… strange.
After all, they had never seen anyone bring a child to an auction. Bringing a child was one thing, but bringing an exotic beast too?
The most baffling part was that they were carrying luggage.
That Big Cat was carrying two rattan chests on its back.
Just… ridiculous.
But recognizing one of them as the young master of the Hao family, the fact that this strange young man opened with a bid of twenty million Star Coins was understandable.
Maybe Young Master Hao asked him to shout it?
That ‘Young Master’ manager also looked over, still smiling, and even smiled at Young Master Bai.
Young Master Bai rolled his eyes at him, giving him no face at all.
The crowd didn’t continue bidding. Seeing the other party’s stance of definitely getting it, they probably couldn’t outbid him. Besides, the young master of the Hao family was standing right there.
Ning Yunyi’s group didn’t bid on anything else. When the auction was about over, Ning Yunyi looked at Hao Yan and his friend. “You guys leave the Underground City first.”
Hao Yan looked blankly. Young Master Bai added meaningfully, “It’s good for you.”
After all, he had a premonition that his uncle was about to unleash his ultimate move.
Ning Yunyi indeed thought so. He was always the one taking Star Coins from others; there was no logic in him giving them away for free.
So when the auction ended, that ‘Young Master’ personally came over to lead them backstage to pay.
Standing in front of the card machine, the smiling-tiger ‘Young Master’ asked, “Sir, you look unfamiliar. Is this your first time here? Will it be card or transfer?”
Ning Yunyi maintained a faint smile. “Is there no third option?”
The smiling tiger raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What third option?”
Ning Yunyi returned a even more cheerful smile. “For example… Freeloading (Bai Piao).”
