The Early-Deceased Mother of the Male Lead CHAPTER 17.3

Part 3

At the same time.

City Hospital.

Tang Yue, with gauze wrapped around her forehead and simple treatment applied to multiple abrasions on her body, got out of an ambulance.

Not long ago, a vicious incident occurred on the street in Shangquan District. A man, after getting drunk, got into an argument with his girlfriend. The dispute escalated quickly, and the man grabbed a wine bottle from the table and smashed it at his girlfriend.

Instantly, screams erupted.

The man didn’t stop there. Instead, he intensified his actions, grabbing his girlfriend by the hair, punching and kicking her while spewing unbearable profanities.

Tang Yue was nearby at the time.

She had had an unpleasant quarrel with her family because of some issues, so she came out to clear her mind.

When the accident happened, some people around didn’t react at all, and some were too afraid to go up.

Tang Yue only felt a surge of anger. She glanced around, grabbed a chair placed on the road by a nearby shop owner, rushed over, and smashed it against the drunk man’s back.

She had thought it through thoroughly, but she didn’t expect the man to be so thick-skinned. Taking such a heavy hit, he staggered a bit but soon steadied himself, turned around cursing, and started attacking her.

Tang Yue suffered a bit because of this.

Fortunately, people around quickly came up to help and subdued the drunk man.

The police also arrived quickly.

The nearby shop owner had a first aid kit and brought it out. Kind-hearted bystanders also helped her and the other girl simply treat their wounds.

After a while, the ambulance arrived, wailing, and took the injured to the hospital.

That girl was injured quite seriously and went into the operating room.

Tang Yue was relatively better. The medical staff re-treated her wounds, prescribed some topical medicine, gave a few instructions, and she was free to go.

She left the emergency room and sat on a chair outside.

The evening breeze blew gently.

People could be seen constantly entering and leaving with worried expressions.

Tang Yue suddenly felt terrible. She had been out for so long, yet her phone hadn’t rung once.

The treated wounds on her body also sent throbs of pain, intertwining with her feelings.

She lowered her eyelids. After a while, she finally mustered the courage to dial Tang Yuqi’s number.

It rang a few times before being picked up. A man’s cold voice came through the receiver, “What is it?”

Tang Yue was silent for two seconds before whispering, “Brother, I’m feeling a bit unwell. Can you come to the hospital to pick me up?”

“No time.” Tang Yuqi said, then hung up directly.

Tang Yue held the phone, frozen there.

After a while, a mother walked past with her child, sounding displeased, “Song Xiaocheng, don’t be ungrateful…”

Hearing this voice, Tang Yue stiffened, instinctively looking at the two people walking by.

She didn’t know them, but just now when she was on the phone with Tang Yuqi, she had heard this woman’s voice from his end.

“Excuse me, sorry to bother you!” Tang Yue got up and chased after them.

The mother and son looked at her. “What’s wrong?”

“Can I ask, did you see a very tall man just now, wearing a suit, looking quite different from ordinary people?”

This description sounded a bit hasty and funny, but the mother thought for a moment and nodded. “I saw him.”

“May I ask which way he went?” Tang Yue pressed.

The woman pointed her in the general direction.

After thanking her, Tang Yue ran in the indicated direction.

Tang Yuqi went all the way to the VIP ward of the hospital. Before entering, he heard the slightly choked voices of Yu Zhen’s parents from inside.

Additionally, there was a very soft, clearly weak voice.

It was Yu Zhen.

After being in a coma for three days, she had finally woken up.

Tang Yuqi had also received the news and rushed over.

“Uncle, Auntie…” He politely knocked gently on the ward door before entering. He greeted Yu Zhen’s parents first, then looked at Yu Zhen on the hospital bed. “Zhenzhen.”

“Brother Qi…” Yu Zhen showed a weak smile and tried to sit up.

She had met Tang Yuqi by chance in high school. She helped him with a small favor then, and they became familiar with each other over time.

Friends teased that romance was blossoming.

Yu Zhen thought so too at first, but soon she realized Tang Yuqi only treated her as a sister.

She was somewhat disappointed, but adjusted quickly.

Having such a brother was also quite good.

Tang Yuqi often treated her to meals, took her out to play, and gave her small gifts.

At first, Yu Zhen didn’t realize, but later hearing friends talk about it, she learned that the gifts Tang Yuqi gave were all very expensive.

Everyone envied her for having such a doting brother.

“No need, just lie down.” Tang Yuqi expressed concern.

Yu Zhen obediently lay back down.

After Tang Yuqi inquired about her physical condition, he asked about what happened the night she fell into a coma.

Tang Yue followed the direction indicated by the mother, searching the inpatient building like a headless fly, floor by floor, room by room for Tang Yuqi.

But she found nothing.

Did I hear wrong?

Thinking this, her mood became complicated for a moment, unsure if she felt relief or disappointment.

The wounds that had just been treated seemed to have split open, and the pain became more obvious.

Simultaneously, there was a deep sense of exhaustion.

Tang Yue lowered her head and walked out of the inpatient building.

Not paying attention, she bumped into someone.

She gathered herself and apologized, “Sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going…”

It was a tall, sturdy boy wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and Crocs, holding a stainless steel lunch box, and on the phone.

“…I heard that guy surnamed Tang’s voice. Is he there too? Then I’ll go up later.” The boy finished his call and looked at Tang Yue. “It’s okay.”

Seeing she was injured and the gauze on her head seemed to be seeping blood, he asked with concern, “Is your injury serious?”

In that instant, an uncontrollable feeling of grievance welled up in Tang Yue’s heart. Her eyes turned red and filled with a shallow layer of tears.

Her own brother ignored her when he heard she was at the hospital over the phone, hanging up impatiently.

Yet this stranger she accidentally bumped into not only didn’t blame her but cared about her condition.

“Hey, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Did you bump your wound? Does it hurt a lot?” Seeing her like this, the boy suddenly panicked.

“How about I accompany you to the outpatient clinic to get it treated?”

Tang Yue felt so embarrassed. She quickly wiped her eyes with her hand. “I’m fine. You’re here to visit a patient, right? Go ahead…”

“It doesn’t matter. There’s someone unlikable in there. I planned to go up later anyway. I’ll accompany you to the clinic first.”

Tang Yue hesitated, finally nodding, her voice muffled. “Thank you.”

“Small matter, let’s go.”

The two walked out of the inpatient building towards the outpatient building.

“I’m Yu Fei. And you?”

“Tang Yue.”

“How did you get injured? The wound is on your forehead; is it serious?”

“Just now in Shangquan District…”

“Well done! But you’re a girl; be more careful if you encounter such things in the future…”

“You brought a lunch box; is someone in your family sick?”

“My cousin…”

Chatting along the way, they arrived at the outpatient building.

The doctor who treated Tang Yue’s wound was the same one from before. Seeing her like this, he was instantly exasperated. “Didn’t I tell you…”

Though scolding, it didn’t stop him from re-treating her wound.

Soon, Tang Yue walked out of the outpatient building with fresh gauze and bandages, alongside Yu Fei.

“Thank you for accompanying me…”

Just as she was speaking, Yu Fei’s phone rang nearby. “I’ll take this call first… Hello, I’m over at the outpatient building… Tang Yuqi left? Okay, I’m coming over!”

Yu Fei hung up and turned to say goodbye to Tang Yue, only to see her face suddenly turn pale, her eyes seemingly filled with disbelief.
