You Claimed You Didn’t Love Me, So Why Cry Now That I’m Engaged? Chapter 6

Chapter 6: He Can No Longer Remember Clearly

Xie Miaohan snapped the okra in half. Looking at the two broken pieces lying in his palm, a shadow of gloom flashed across his brow, but he quickly returned to normal.

He tossed the broken okra into the vegetable basket and said, “Understood.”

Now Gu Huaiye was thoroughly unhappy.

He had spent tens of thousands to hire someone to put on a show.

Yet Xie Miaohan didn’t give him a single reaction. Even a look of disdain or disgust would have been fine.

Always wearing that paralyzed face—Gu Huaiye should be annoyed by seeing it so much.

He remembered when he first met Xie Miaohan; Xie Miaohan would smile gently at him and take the initiative to carry his luggage.

If he had known back then that Xie Miaohan was an unmelting iceberg, he would have slapped himself awake a few times to stop himself from liking such a person.

It was really boring.

Maybe Xie Miaohan wasn’t a cold person by nature, but only became this frigid after being with him.

No, wait. He was quite passionate with Wen Xuyue, bringing the person into the company, wishing they could be glued together every moment.

If Gu Huaiye hadn’t called and threatened him, he probably wouldn’t have been willing to come back tonight.

Gu Huaiye took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

“Xie Miaohan, do you have anything you want to say to me?”

Xie Miaohan finished washing and cutting the vegetables, then turned around, staring at Gu Huaiye with a cold expression.

Gu Huaiye thought he was finally going to react, and couldn’t help but straighten his back nervously.

“Go wait outside. I’m going to stir-fry, and it will smell of oil and smoke,” Xie Miaohan’s voice had no fluctuation, sounding flat. “If your clothes get dirty, you’ll throw a tantrum again.”

Mentioning clothes, Xie Miaohan lowered his eyes and looked him up and down.

“Are you wearing Chen Zirui’s clothes?”

“En, I stayed at his place last night.” Gu Huaiye smiled, mocking him. “You were with your mistress all night, so of course you didn’t know I didn’t come back.”

He leaned in close and sniffed. “Did he smell the cheap pheromones on you? You are both Omegas now; who exactly is satisfying whom?”

Xie Miaohan’s eyes were as cold as frost as he shoved Gu Huaiye hard.

Gu Huaiye lost his footing and nearly fell.

“Xie Miaohan, are you sick in the head?!”

“I’m going to cook. Don’t come in.” Xie Miaohan closed the kitchen door.

Gu Huaiye kicked the door in anger, then walked back to the sofa and sat down.

The hired boy naturally heard their conversation and looked at Gu Huaiye uneasily.

Afraid the person in the kitchen would hear, he deliberately lowered his voice. “Gu Shao, do we continue?”

“Continue! Of course we continue!” Gu Huaiye was furious, raising his voice. “Baby, don’t be in a rush. I’ll satisfy you right after we eat.”

The sound of stir-frying crackled loudly in the kitchen; it seemed Xie Miaohan hadn’t listened to a word Gu Huaiye said.

Gu Huaiye kicked the coffee table again.

The boy: Money is really hard to earn.

During the meal, Gu Huaiye kept putting food in the boy’s bowl, his tone unusually gentle, coaxing the boy until his cheeks turned red.

“No… no need…” The boy held his bowl, looking flattered and terrified. “It’s already enough.”

“You’re so thin, you need to eat more.” Gu Huaiye put another piece of chicken in his bowl. “Remember to drink the soup after you finish; it’s very nutritious. If you like it, I’ll have him make it for you every day.”

This remark was a bit excessive; even the boy felt uncomfortable and glanced cautiously at Xie Miaohan sitting opposite them.

To his surprise, the man across the table showed no emotion on his face. He ate quietly, not even looking at them.

Gu Huaiye naturally noticed this too. He gripped his chopsticks tightly, then smiled and leaned into the boy’s ear to sniff.

“You smell so good. What is your pheromone?”

Asking this was tantamount to sexual harassment, but the boy had to cooperate with Gu Huaiye’s act, so he could only bite the bullet and answer.

“Mint.”

Gu Huaiye’s eyes curved into a smile. “I like this scent. We are truly so compati—”

There was a sudden movement across the table. Both the boy and Gu Huaiye looked over.

Xie Miaohan stood up and said to Gu Huaiye, “I’m full. I’ll go make the bed for you two.”

Gu Huaiye: “…” He’s actually doing it?

Xie Miaohan had already gone to the bedroom without looking back. The act had reached this point, and Gu Huaiye couldn’t simply call ‘cut’.

That would make him look exactly like a clown.

The table was full of dishes Gu Huaiye loved, but now he had no appetite. He took a few bites and put down his chopsticks.

About a few minutes later, he watched Xie Miaohan come out of the master bedroom, walk to the dining table, and start clearing the dishes.

“It’s ready. You can go in.”

Gu Huaiye almost laughed out of anger.

Why didn’t I see you being this virtuous before?

Gu Huaiye’s rebellious streak was thoroughly triggered by Xie Miaohan. He stood up with a whoosh, dragged the boy toward the bedroom, and slammed the door shut.

The boy sat nervously on the bed, looking somewhat at a loss.

Gu Huaiye leaned against the window, lit a cigarette, blew out a smoke ring, and said to the boy, “You know how to moan, right?”

“Huh?” The boy didn’t react immediately.

“I haven’t shouted stop, so you aren’t allowed to stop.”

The boy was completely dumbfounded. This was a situation he hadn’t anticipated.

“Just… dry screaming?”

Gu Huaiye looked at him like he was an idiot. “Otherwise?”

The boy: “…”

And so, under Gu Huaiye’s threat, the boy cried and moaned without tears for several hours.

When his voice was almost hoarse, Gu Huaiye waved his hand with a look of disgust.

“Alright, enough. It sounds terrible.”

The boy was so aggrieved his eyes turned red.

He knew there was no such thing as easy money. If he had known, he wouldn’t have taken this part-time job as a fake boyfriend.

Gu Huaiye went to the door, opened it a crack, and peeked out.

The living room was already dark.

Gu Huaiye assumed Xie Miaohan had gone to sleep. Completely unable to hold it in anymore, he stormed out of the master bedroom in a rage, went to the small room at the far end, and threw the door open.

“Xie Miaohan! You really don’t care at all, do you?! Fine! Laozi admits defeat!”

Gu Huaiye turned on the light with a snap, and his expression changed slightly.

Xie Miaohan was not in the small room.

He hurriedly checked the other areas. After confirming that Xie Miaohan was not in the apartment, he let out a few distorted laughs.

What act was I putting on?!

The guy doesn’t care in the slightest.

At this moment, he probably didn’t forget to run off and be lovey-dovey with his lover.

I’m seriously going to die of anger!

After kicking the boy out of the apartment, Gu Huaiye sat alone by the floor-to-ceiling window, drinking.

He drank himself into a stupor, falling asleep on the floor clutching a wine bottle.

He dreamed of the scene when he first met Xie Miaohan.

Dragging his luggage, looking back at him from time to time, introducing him to the school environment.

His smile was gentle, and the sunlight hitting Xie Miaohan’s features made him look even more exquisite and beautiful.

So, there was a time when they got along so harmoniously.

When exactly did it change?

Gu Huaiye could no longer remember clearly.
