Chapter 70: Lin Qingyan Falls Ill

Lin Qingyan had a dream. In the dream, he was still in school. In the evening, he was cornered in the restroom by a group of wealthy and rebellious classmates. They insulted and beat him.

Finally, drenched and covered in water, he was locked in the restroom. He spent the night alone, helpless, and despairing, curled up in a corner. No one loved him, no one cared for him, no one cared about him.

“Lin Qingyan, wake up…”

“Lin Qingyan…”

Lin Qingyan opened his eyes drowsily. He felt his body was stiff, his mouth was dry, his head was dizzy, and his body was hot and weak.

He looked up and met Lu Yuqi’s worried and concerned face. His voice was hoarse as he called out, “Yuqi…”

“Why are you sleeping in the corridor? Why didn’t you call me to open the door?” Lu Yuqi looked at him. His cheeks were abnormally flushed, and he looked listless. He reached out to touch his forehead, and it was indeed burning hot.

Lu Yuqi immediately frowned. “You have a fever.”

“I’m fine…” Lin Qingyan forced a smile. He struggled to stand up but felt lightheaded and almost fell. Luckily, Lu Yuqi quickly supported him.

The sky was just beginning to brighten. It was only a little past six in the morning, and everyone was still asleep. Lu Yuqi vaguely woke up to use the restroom and found Lin Qingyan wasn’t in bed. He then discovered the dorm room door was locked from the inside.

He went out to look for him and found him asleep in the corridor, probably sleeping there all night.

Lu Yuqi originally planned to wait for Lin Qingyan to return before going to sleep last night, but he was too tired, played on his phone for a while, and fell asleep unknowingly.

He remembered the dorm room door wasn’t locked.

Unless…

Lu Yuqi temporarily set aside these thoughts and said to Lin Qingyan, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”

“No need…”

“What are you two doing outside?”

An Jing, who had just come up the stairs, saw this scene and walked over. He woke up unusually early today, unable to fall back asleep after waking up, his mind filled with last night’s events.

So, he unconsciously came to the dormitory building.

Lu Yuqi glanced at the man inexplicably and said, “Lin Qingyan slept in the corridor all night and is sick.”

Hearing this, An Jing shifted his gaze to Lin Qingyan. He was being supported by Lu Yuqi, his cheeks flushed, but his lips were pale and bloodless. His brows were lowered, and he politely greeted An Jing. “I’m fine.”

An Jing touched his forehead, frowned, and said gently, “You have a high fever. You need to go to the hospital.” He knelt down and looked at Lu Yuqi. “Help him up, I’ll carry him down.”

“No need to trouble you, I’ll carry him.”

“Don’t waste time.”

Lu Yuqi pouted and didn’t argue further.

An Jing carried Lin Qingyan on his back and said to Lu Yuqi, “I can take him.”

Lu Yuqi immediately refused. He didn’t trust An Jing. If it weren’t for An Jing asking Lin Qingyan to stay last night, Lin Qingyan wouldn’t have fallen ill.

“Are you sure you want to go out like this?”

An Jing’s gaze swept over him ambiguously. He lowered his head and realized he was still wearing his pajamas—pajamas with Ultraman and monsters all over them.

Lu Yuqi: …

His mother bought them for him and put them in his luggage. She thought all boys loved Ultraman.

Young Master Lu’s face darkened. He twitched his mouth, ultimately not explaining anything, just said, “Take care of him,” turned, and went into the room, slamming the door shut.

An Jing watched the closed door and smiled silently, then carried Lin Qingyan downstairs. The young man on his back remained still, and he couldn’t help but ask, “Yan Yan, why were you sleeping in the corridor?”

Lin Qingyan’s eyes were half-closed, his voice hoarse and soft. “The dorm room door was locked, I couldn’t get in.”

“You could have called them to open the door.”

“I knocked, but they didn’t wake up. I was afraid of waking up the people in the next dorm.”

An Jing paused before continuing. “So you were afraid of waking everyone up, so you preferred to sleep outside?”

“Mm… everyone was very tired after training for so long. And… I was afraid they would scold me if they woke up.” Lin Qingyan’s mind was hazy, saying whatever came to mind.

An Jing chuckled helplessly. He found this child to be very well-behaved and sensible, and inexplicably felt a pang of heartache. His tone unconsciously softened. “Don’t do this next time. Everyone will understand you, they won’t scold you. Look how uncomfortable you are now that you’re sick, you even missed training.”

“Mm…”

Lin Qingyan closed his eyes, his anxious and uneasy mood gradually calming down. When An Jing carried him, he suddenly felt a sense of security, but it was different from the feeling Gu Fei gave him.

He opened his eyelids and looked closely at the man’s clear-cut profile, feeling a strange sense of familiarity. He suddenly whispered, “Why are you helping me, knowing that I don’t like your brother… Don’t you dislike me?”

An Jing was stunned, then smiled. “Why would you think that? My brother is my brother, I’m me. I don’t know what happened between you, but I know I’m your instructor now, and I’m responsible for you.”

It was very quiet. An Jing could hear the young man’s light breathing and his sighing whisper, “If only I had a brother like you.”

——

The hospital. In a bright and clean single room, the smell of disinfectant lingered in the air.

Perhaps he was too tired, the young man lying in the bed was asleep. His pale lips were slightly pursed, his long, thick eyelashes trembled slightly, his sleep restless. The veins on his white hand were clearly visible, where an IV needle was inserted.

An Jing stood by the bed and watched quietly for a while before turning to leave.

When Lin Qingyan woke up from his sleep, more than an hour had passed. His spirits were better, his head wasn’t so dizzy, and the IV needle had been removed.

An Jing happened to come in, carrying medicine.

“Awake? Feeling better?”

Lin Qingyan sat up and smiled at him. “Mm, much better. Thank you for taking care of me. If you have something to do, you can leave.”

“It’s fine.” An Jing thought, this child is Gu Fei’s precious darling. If anything happened to him, wouldn’t Gu Fei settle the score with him?

“Must be hungry? I went out to buy breakfast. Eat some first.”

An Jing pulled out the retractable table from the bed and placed the breakfast he had bought on it: lean meat porridge, buns, and soy milk. “I didn’t know what you like, so I just bought some.”

“I’m not picky.”

He was indeed hungry. An Jing sat by the bed, watching the young man lower his head and concentrate on eating the porridge. His lowered brows were gentle and obedient. A smile appeared in his eyes. “Eat more, you’re too thin.”

Lin Qingyan nodded, took a still-warm bun, and handed it to An Jing, smiling faintly. “An Jing, don’t just watch me eat. You eat too.”

“Mm, thank you.”

On the other side, Lu Yuqi hurriedly changed out of his childish pajamas. Seeing An Nanyi and Liu Yang still sound asleep in bed, he became increasingly angry.

He never allowed himself to be wronged. After kicking over a chair, he fiercely kicked the two of them in the bed, making quite a commotion.

“Get up!”

Liu Yang woke up first. He threw a pillow at Lu Yuqi, his face full of displeasure. He yelled, “Lu Yuqi, what the hell are you doing so early in the morning?!”

Lu Yuqi, “Try saying that again.”

Liu Yang immediately cowered and said nothing.

“What’s going on?” An Nanyi, who had also woken up, sat up, scratching his messy hair, looking bewildered at the cold-faced Lu Yuqi and the furious Liu Yang. “What’s wrong with you?”

Lu Yuqi smiled coldly, shifting his gaze to An Nanyi. Looking down at him, he said, “An Nanyi, you locked the door last night, right?”

“What? Yuqi, I don’t know what I did to offend you, to make you target me again and again.”

“Don’t beat around the bush. Did you lock the door?”

——

After finishing breakfast, An Jing brought out the medicine for Lin Qingyan to take, then took out two candies from his pocket and handed them to the young man. “Eat some sweets.”

Lin Qingyan saw the familiar packaging of hawthorn candies in his hand and was stunned. “How did you…”

“Gu Fei asked me to give them to you.” An Jing said, putting the two candies into the young man’s palm, smiling helplessly. “I ran to several stores to find these. I don’t know why Gu Fei likes…”

Just then, An Jing’s phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and raised his eyebrows with amusement. “Speak of the devil, your Fei ge is calling.”

He answered the phone. “Mm… he’s awake, nothing serious… Okay.” An Jing handed the phone to Lin Qingyan, gesturing for him to answer, smiling ambiguously. “Chat slowly, I’ll go out first.”

It can only be said that the more excited An Da Shao is about gossip, the more he will regret it later.

Only a short time after confirming their relationship, which should have been a time of intimacy for a normal couple, Lin Qingyan hadn’t contacted Gu Fei for several days. He was busy with training, and Gu Fei happened to be on a business trip abroad, with a time difference.

It was daytime in China, but it was late at night there.

Neither wanted to disturb the other’s rest.

Lin Qingyan asked Gu Fei puzzledly, “Why did you ask An Jing to bring me candy?”

“Fei ge had a dream, he dreamt that Yan Yan was crying, so he sent you two candies to cheer you up.”

Gu Fei said.
