Chapter 9: I Can Also Do the Splits
Liang Yuhang stared at him intently. “You’re so bold.”
Mu Feng looked blank. “What’s wrong?”
Liang Yuhang lectured, “You are an Omega. If you stay alone in a room with an Alpha at night and take off your bracelet, what if I suppress you?”
“I didn’t think that far.” Mu Feng was telling the truth this time.
He pretended to be an Omega but was an Alpha after all, so he often overlooked many physiological precautions, especially since the other person was his crush.
He smiled, looking very reassured. “But, aren’t you a misanthrope who hates being touched? What could you possibly do to me?”
Liang Yuhang: “…………”
Speechless. Just pretend he didn’t say anything.
Liang Yuhang lowered his head again to treat the wound on his wrist, asking a routine medical question, “When is your heat cycle?”
“Ah?” Mu Feng teased him using his earlier words. “An Alpha asking me this kind of question, what does that mean?”
Liang Yuhang: “…………”
He was now starting to reflect that bringing Mu Feng home for bandaging wasn’t a good idea; this guy was missing a screw.
Mu Feng absolutely couldn’t let Teacher Liang feel awkward, his eyes curving into a smile. “Just kidding. It’s in these few days.”
Liang Yuhang really couldn’t be bothered with him, but he also couldn’t watch him go astray, so he couldn’t help but share some common knowledge known to everyone. “You’re in your heat cycle, and you go home alone with an Alpha?”
Mu Feng pointed to the bracelet on the floor, righteous and confident. “Wasn’t there… that thing originally…”
Besides, it was a susceptibility period. Nothing would happen between them; at most, they would fight. Wearing the bracelet would just reduce aggression between the same sex and make it more comfortable.
Liang Yuhang only felt a throbbing headache. This kid was not only simple but also oblivious.
“Extend your hand.”
Liang Yuhang efficiently finished treating the wound on his hand. He lowered his head to pick up the bracelet, but as he brushed past the other’s shoulder, he keenly smelled a faint scent.
Like the mountain breeze in the forest, carrying the smell of grass after rain, as cold as melting snow, fleeting. But it wasn’t soft like an Omega’s; instead, it carried a faint aggressiveness that actually made him feel a little uncomfortable.
Even as an Alpha, few things could trigger his aggression.
Mu Feng also sensed it and tried hard to suppress it with his spiritual power, extremely nervous.
“Are you an Omega?” Liang Yuhang probed.
Mu Feng nodded, not daring to look him in the eye.
So scary. He had hidden it with ease for so many years; how come he was repeatedly on the verge of being exposed in front of Liang Yuhang?
Liang Yuhang evaluated, “Doesn’t seem like it.”
But sniffing again, there was no scent in the air, as if it were a hallucination just now.
Mu Feng said guiltily, “Where don’t I look like one? Is it because I’m not pretty enough, my waist isn’t thin enough, or my body isn’t soft enough?”
The other remained silent.
He lifted his leg to demonstrate. “Very soft. I can also do the splits.”
0717 had been eavesdropping. It turned around from the corner and tried hard to squat down. “I can also do the splits.”
Everyone was doing it, so Mumu happily joined the group, flexibly doing the splits. “Meow meow meow meow.”
Three pairs of eyes stared straight at him.
Liang Yuhang: “…………”
This world has gone crazy.
Liang Yuhang confirmed once again that bringing Mu Feng back was really not a good decision. He silently put the bracelet back on him, buckled it tight, grabbed his collar, and carried him to the door.
“You can go.”
Mu Feng turned back, looking at him resentfully. “So late, you’re letting me, an Omega about to go into heat, go home by myself?”
Liang Yuhang raised his hand and pressed his brow. “I’ll drive you.”
It seemed staying over was impossible. Mu Feng sighed with regret. Indeed, humans were inferior to cats. Being a cat was better; he could be cuddled to sleep at night.
Sitting back in that car, his mindset was completely different. Liang Yuhang probably found him annoying, not saying a word.
Mu Feng thought, Seems like I pushed him away again. What if Teacher Liang doesn’t want to see me?
Amidst the silence, the phone rang. Liang Yuhang turned on the center console. “Professor Zhang, please speak.”
“Where are you? Come to Lab A3. It’s urgent.”
“Happens to be nearby. Arriving soon.”
Hearing the conversation, Mu Feng slowly sat up straight. “Isn’t A3 for my use? Going there for what?”
“I was just about to ask, what do you go back to the lab for?” Liang Yuhang turned the steering wheel and parked neatly.
Mu Feng’s brain spun rapidly. “To sleep. Under the influence of reagents, I sleep more soundly.”
Liang Yuhang felt there wasn’t a word of truth in his mouth, too lazy to expose him.
Mu Feng followed behind him, muttering, “Stinky old man. Agreed to donate equipment in exchange for three months of usage rights, going back on his word.”
Fortunately, he was vigilant and had a habit of cleaning up the scene after experiments. The developed reagents were locked in the cabinet. On the surface, it really looked like just an idle place.
Liang Yuhang and Zhang Luyan pushed open the door to A3, looking at the bed laid out there, with several pink and blue sleeping plushies on it, and both fell into silence.
“You really use it for sleeping?”
Zhang Luyan smacked the back of his head. “This room is full of high-precision instruments that the research institute doesn’t usually use, and you use it to sleep with you?”
Mu Feng’s eyes curved. “I didn’t break them. Don’t worry, I maintain them for you regularly.”
“What exactly is the matter?” Liang Yuhang said.
Zhang Luyan came back to his senses. “Oh, right, almost forgot the main business. Recently, there was a situation in the Ninth Galaxy. Originally, the war was won, but their commander had a brain fart and recalled Xie Xingchen of the Dark Star Special Forces for another mission. As a result, the opponent suddenly counterattacked, causing significant heavy damage.”
Liang Yuhang understood immediately. “So as neighbors, we need to help.”
“Yes, that’s what it means.”
Zhang Luyan said, “Because the injured soldiers are closer to us, their Alliance Leader Xie will help us quickly establish a Sky Dome Base for the physical and mental treatment of soldiers after the war, post-war enhancement. Involved in classified information, fully closed-off, duration uncertain. Can you do it?”
“I obey military orders,” Liang Yuhang said.
Mu Feng heard the keywords: fully closed-off, no entry or exit. Wouldn’t that mean he wouldn’t see Liang Yuhang for a long time?
He spoke up bravely, “Does this base lack sweepers? I want to go too.”
“You think it’s sweeping the streets? You want to go too.”
Zhang Luyan looked at this young master helplessly. “Some equipment from the lab needs to be moved too. Leaving you a bigger space, is that okay?”
Mu Feng truly felt like the sky was falling.
He couldn’t study for even a day longer. Might as well drop out and go home.
Zhang Luyan turned his head. “Have you chosen the student to mentor? This is a good learning opportunity, and also to cultivate a new batch of talents. Otherwise, there will be a gap in succession later.”
Mu Feng suddenly looked up, fully revived, blinking his eyes at Teacher Liang, hinting frantically.
Liang Yuhang nodded. “Chosen.”
“Which year’s outstanding student is it? What’s the name? Let me see which direction is suitable…”
“Him.”
“Who?” Zhang Luyan looked around, a room full of instruments, completely confused.
Liang Yuhang glanced at the happy kid beside him. “Mu Feng.”
Zhang Luyan dug his ear. “Only fifty, how come my ears aren’t working well? Who did you say?”
“Mu Feng. The person I chose.” Liang Yuhang was calm and peaceful.
Zhang Luyan couldn’t help raising his voice. “You’re crazy. You’re really sending him in to sweep the base? Do you know his grades?”
“I know. All passed.” Compared to the other, Liang Yuhang’s emotions were very stable. Not only did he know the grades, but he also knew the measurements.
Zhang Luyan felt like needing oxygen. “Did I not make it clear just now? Every research institute will bring students there. There are regular assessments, just like in school. You bring such a dunce, it will be your, Liang Yuhang’s face that is lost.”
“Who are you calling a dunce?” Mu Feng frowned. In front of my crush, can you give me some face?
At least he had controlled his score to barely pass into a top university. Of course, that score was indeed rotten wood in the eyes of a straight-A student.
Zhang Luyan was merciless. “You. Hovering on the edge of failing, and you say you aren’t dumb.”
Liang Yuhang hadn’t really thought about taking Mu Feng before, just purely to find someone to complete the task and help out. Bringing him into the base was unexpected, but since he had agreed, there was no reason to go back on his word.
He spoke, “Research and development are done by colleagues; the quality of the student won’t affect the result. The military said to choose one person to lead, didn’t say to choose someone with good grades. I have my evaluation criteria.”
“Are good grades not the foundation?” Zhang Luyan didn’t know why he came to see him instead of sleeping in the middle of the night, chest hurting from anger. “Tell me, your evaluation criteria.”
Liang Yuhang recalled the way he efficiently unbuckled the bracelet just now. “Obedient.”
Mu Feng nodded vigorously. “Teacher Liang is right. I am super good.”
Zhang Luyan sighed deeply. “With your family’s conditions, he shouldn’t be bribing you with money, right? You… he… sigh…”
“Did you want to say bribing with sex?” Mu Feng had no filter. “That really didn’t happen. Didn’t have time.”
Zhang Luyan covered his chest with his hand, feeling like he was about to see a lifetime of reputation destroyed. “Liang Yuhang, I really want to expel you from the sect. Losing your face, isn’t that losing my face?”
“Don’t worry, I will teach him well,” Liang Yuhang said.
Mu Feng only felt his heart being squeezed very lightly, sour and numb.
Liang Yuhang had only known him for two days, yet for something he casually agreed to after being bamboozled, he was willing to be responsible until the end.
Truly, educated to the extreme.
It was also the first time someone stood so firmly on his side.
Mu Feng didn’t speak. For the first time, he hated that he acted dumb too excessively, leaving Liang Yuhang with no confidence, yet he couldn’t say a word of defense.
Zhang Luyan couldn’t out-talk him, so he gave up and waved his hand. “Pack up. Report tomorrow morning.”
Liang Yuhang sent the person out, turning back to find Mu Feng still standing there, lost in thought, a stark contrast to his lively appearance before.
“What, scared?” Liang Yuhang said. “It’s not too late to back out now.”
“No, I just…” Mu Feng hesitated. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll really embarrass you?”
Liang Yuhang looked at him for two seconds. “There is no such possibility.”
Mu Feng moved his lips, feeling uneasy in the end, lowering his head not daring to look into his eyes. “I’m very dumb. How about… changing to someone else.”
He couldn’t have a dazzling life, and he didn’t want to become a stain on Liang Yuhang’s beautiful resume.
“Look up.” Liang Yuhang commanded, his voice very soft, but the pressure heavy.
Until those flustered and fearful eyes looked at him, he said calmly, “As long as you want to, I’ll let you win.”
