Chapter 54: The Big Dumpling Actually Gets a Nosebleed
“Ao!” “Aowu!” My dear/Papa, I/An An missed you so much!
“Be good, let me put my things down first.” Lin Xia struggled amidst the two white furballs, finding it difficult to stand up and set his items down.
Once he had put his things down, he gathered the two white dumplings into his arms and “ravaged” them with affection before setting them down to drive home.
Having been thoroughly loved and petted, the big dumpling and the white dumpling lay sprawled on their backs in the rear seat, panting heavily, looking like survivors of a disaster.
How… how could it be so terrifying? Is this Lin Xia?! How could he lay such hands on “delicate” little tigers like them…
Driving the car, Lin Xia smiled faintly, thinking to himself that there would be plenty of fun ahead; he planned to pet them all over again when they got home. He really wanted to knead the tigers, but since the white dumpling was his son, Lin Xia couldn’t bear to squish his face too hard, only gently rubbing it occasionally. But the big dumpling was different—his skin was thick and his flesh sturdy, perfect for kneading. Even if he kneaded him out of shape, it wouldn’t matter.
The big dumpling suddenly sneezed. He rubbed his nose with his paw, not paying it much mind, completely unaware of the dire straits awaiting him in the future.
Upon arriving home, the big dumpling immediately transformed back into a large white tiger. The white dumpling rode on his back, looking especially majestic. The big tiger also held the groceries Lin Xia had bought in his mouth; he refused to let Lin Xia carry everything himself, insisting on carrying the heaviest bag.
“Aowu!” Papa, look! Isn’t An An so cool, just like on TV! The white dumpling howled into the wind, his fur blown standing straight up, flipping backward strand by strand.
“Very cool.” Lin Xia looked back to see the big white tiger carrying the white dumpling. Others ride horses, you ride a tiger—of course it’s cool. If only the big white tiger wasn’t holding a red plastic bag in his mouth, the father and son duo would look truly imposing.
Entering the living room, the big white tiger “unloaded” the white dumpling onto the sofa, then went into the kitchen to put down the items in his mouth before sitting aside to await Lin Xia’s instructions.
“You keep the baby company and watch TV!” Lin Xia walked around the big white tiger to grab the ingredients. The tiger couldn’t help in the kitchen and was so big that he just got in the way sitting there. It was better for him to go watch TV with the white dumpling.
“Ao…” The big white tiger knew he couldn’t help, so he left the kitchen to find the tiger cub. By this time, the white dumpling had skillfully used the remote to turn on the TV and was watching cartoons with gusto.
The big white tiger squeezed onto the sofa. The white dumpling rolled into his embrace, leaning against the big tiger to continue watching.
Aowu~ The big white tiger’s body was warm and solid; leaning on him was very comfortable. It felt different from lying on Papa’s soft, smooth belly.
Lin Xia was in the kitchen meticulously preparing dinner for the family. The little hamster had called at noon to say he wouldn’t be back for dinner tonight. Since returning from their vacation in Hainan, Chen Mingzong had become even more brazen, extending his time with the hamster from two hours to a whole morning, and then to a full day. The little hamster hadn’t been back all day; he even ate dinner with Chen Mingzong, who would only bring him back afterward.
Lin Xia really wanted to ask Chen Mingzong on the spot: Do you think my house is a hotel?!
Lin Xia made one soup, three meat dishes, and two vegetable dishes: seaweed and egg drop soup, braised prawns, steamed fish, stewed chicken thigh meat, vinegar-glazed shredded potatoes, and stir-fried green vegetables.
The big white tiger自觉 (consciously/voluntarily) shrank his size, becoming as small as the white dumpling. Lin Xia put bibs on the two little tigers, but the big dumpling rejected it with all his might. He wasn’t a cub; he wasn’t going to wear a bib.
Seeing the big dumpling’s resistance, Lin Xia regretfully put the bib down. He really wanted to see what the big dumpling looked like wearing it.
“Eat your vegetables; you can’t just eat meat.” Lin Xia placed a piece of baby bok choy in the white dumpling’s bowl.
“Aowu…” An An doesn’t want to eat it… The white dumpling took a step back, his entire body expressing rejection.
“Why don’t you like it? Look how much Uncle Tang loves eating vegetables.”
As soon as Lin Xia finished speaking, the big dumpling, whose mouth was stuffed with a chicken leg, paused. He silently spat out the chicken leg, then took a big bite of the bok choy from his chopsticks.
“Ao!” Delicious! I love the vegetables my dear cooks the most!
Although swallowing it was as painful as taking medicine, to please Lin Xia, the big dumpling lied through his teeth.
“See, look how happily Uncle Tang is eating. Baby, you have one too.” Although Lin Xia couldn’t actually tell if the big dumpling was happy or not, to coax the white dumpling, he pretended the big dumpling was enjoying it immensely.
“Aowu…” The white dumpling looked at the big dumpling with a face full of shock, unable to believe what he was hearing.
Aowu! How could that green stuff be delicious? Is Uncle Tang a fake tiger?
Under the white dumpling’s suspicious gaze, the big dumpling nodded. But please forgive him—the nod was very difficult to execute.
“Good boy.” Seeing the white dumpling start eating the vegetable on his own, Lin Xia couldn’t help but praise him.
“Aowu…” The white dumpling chewed on the vegetable, wanting to cry. Where is the delicious part…
After dinner, the family of three digested their food while watching TV. The little hamster returned, bringing his elementary school textbooks with him.
“Today… Ah Zong taught me… reading…” The little hamster still spoke haltingly, but he could organize much more language than when Lin Xia first brought him back.
“Is that so? Was it hard to learn?” Lin Xia watched the little hamster describe his day with excited gestures, feeling happy for him. He treated the little hamster like a younger brother and hoped he would get better.
“Not hard… Ah Zong said I am… smart…” The little hamster’s eyes sparkled, his excitement hard to hide.
Lin Xia helped check what the little hamster had learned today and found that he remembered it quite well. At this rate, maybe the little hamster could recover to normal.
After resting enough, it was time for a bath. Lin Xia scooped up the white dumpling to take him to wash up.
“Aowu!” Bath time! He could play with water again! The white dumpling couldn’t help but cheer.
“Ao!” The forgotten big white tiger proactively followed them to the bathroom.
“Da Bai, you wash later. You’re too big right now; the bathtub can’t fit all three of us,” Lin Xia said, turning his head.
“Ao!” The big white tiger looked disdainfully at the bathtub that couldn’t fit a family of three, gave a howl, and transformed into a small white tiger.
“Alright, but when I can’t keep an eye on you, don’t let your head get wet,” Lin Xia said helplessly. The big dumpling looked smug, as if saying, This works, right?
“Ao!” The big dumpling agreed wholeheartedly and followed Lin Xia into the bathroom.
After filling the water and testing the temperature, Lin Xia felt it was suitable and put the white dumpling and the big dumpling in. The white dumpling started playing with the water immediately, his paws splashing plop plop, flinging water onto his body.
The big dumpling, however, received a shock as intense as colliding planets!
What was Lin Xia doing right now?!
After putting the dumplings in the tub, Lin Xia stood to the side with his back to them and began taking off his clothes.
The shirt came off first, revealing a lean, fair back. Lin Xia’s skin was very pale; under the lights, it looked even whiter and smoother, as if it could break with a touch, like a freshly peeled egg.
The big dumpling’s gaze followed Lin Xia’s hands. After removing his shirt, Lin Xia proceeded to take off his pants. The moment the pants slid down, Lin Xia’s beautiful waistline was revealed. His waist was very slender; the big dumpling felt he could wrap around it with just two paws.
With the pants gone, Lin Xia was left wearing only a pair of… cartoon underwear. The blue underwear hugged his perky buttocks, looking incredibly appetizing to a tiger.
Under the big dumpling’s burning gaze, Lin Xia removed the last layer of covering, revealing the two white, fleshy mounds the big dumpling had been dying to see…
The big dumpling stared until his eyes went straight. The excitement levels in his body skyrocketed to the peak and kept rising until they broke the scale!
Suddenly, the big dumpling heard the sound of a water drop. Eh, strange? The tap isn’t running, where is the dripping sound coming from?
The big dumpling looked down and saw two drops of bright red liquid floating on the water’s surface. As he looked down, another drop fell.
“Ao!” The big dumpling touched his nose with his paw. Looking at his paw, it was completely red—he had a nosebleed!
Lin Xia turned around, his rosy lips curving slightly upward. Having finished undressing, he prepared to step into the bathtub to hug his white furballs.
“…” The big dumpling stared blankly at Lin Xia, at a loss for what to do. His nose was still dripping blood, drop by drop, dyeing part of the bathwater red.
“Are you okay?” Lin Xia hurriedly picked up the big dumpling, tilting his head back to stop the bleeding.
The big dumpling was regretting everything to death; he really had forgotten the pain once the wound healed. Today, just seeing the two red cherries on Lin Xia’s chest had nearly caused a nosebleed, yet he still courted death by coming in to bathe with Lin Xia!
Peeping was one thing, but getting a nosebleed? What a disgrace to tigers!
The big dumpling didn’t say a word, letting Lin Xia handle him. He wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it, only coming out when Lin Xia had forgotten this incident.
Seeing the bathwater turn red, the white dumpling howled and ran out of the tub.
“Aowu!” Papa, the water turned red! The white dumpling stood wet on the bathroom cabinet, looking bewildered.
“It’s okay, Uncle Tang has a nosebleed. I’ll change the water in a bit,” Lin Xia said while helping the big dumpling stop the bleeding.
“Aowu?” Is Uncle Tang okay? the white dumpling asked with concern.
“He’s fine, as long as the bleeding stops.” Lin Xia spared a hand to grab a towel and drape it over the white dumpling.
After stopping the big dumpling’s nosebleed, Lin Xia refilled the water. The family of three wasn’t in the mood for a soak anymore; they washed quickly, dried off, brushed their teeth, and went upstairs.
The big dumpling, having bled, received special care. Lin Xia carried him in his arms while the white dumpling clung to his back. Lin Xia held one in front and carried one on his back.
Back in the room, Lin Xia put down the big dumpling, who had been silent since the nosebleed started, and then put down the white dumpling.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Xia poked the big dumpling, who was playing dead, feeling a bit worried.
“Aowu?” Uncle Tang, what’s wrong with you? The white dumpling leaned in, nuzzling the big dumpling with his head while asking.
“Ao…” I’m fine. The big dumpling made a weak sound. He felt he had no face to look at Lin Xia or the white dumpling, and he certainly didn’t want to say the reason.
“Do you want to take some medicine to reduce internal heat?” Lin Xia didn’t overthink it, assuming the big dumpling was just suffering from excessive “internal heat” (shanghuo).
“Ao…” The big dumpling shook his head vigorously, instantly regaining his vitality.
“Looks like you’re okay then.” Seeing the big dumpling back to his lively self, Lin Xia felt relieved.
Ao… The big dumpling secretly sighed in relief, thinking, Thank goodness I dodged a bullet.
“Aowu!” Uncle Tang is better! The white dumpling happily circled around the big dumpling until he got dizzy and fell into Lin Xia’s lap. The white dumpling’s laughter livened up the atmosphere.
The big dumpling transformed back into his original form, encircling the one big and one small figure, trying not to think about those embarrassing events…
Author’s Note:
The big dumpling saw the meat, truly a cause for celebration…
