Streaming Earth Cuisine In The Interstellar to Raise Star Cubs chapter 37.2

Part 2

He was an S-rank spiritual power user; wasn’t this exactly why those people were fighting over him?

The Big Cat and Ning Xiao Miao both looked over as the two conversed. The little meow cub didn’t understand, but the Big Cat was completely confused. Take away spiritual power?

Can innate spiritual power be taken away? How?

Ning Yunyi glanced at him. “I don’t want your spiritual power. You half-beasts don’t have long lifespans, but they aren’t short either; you can live for one or two hundred years. My proposal just now was, if you want to stay, this is the West City Underground City. I can offer you a job with a monthly salary of ten thousand star coins, but you can only take three thousand. The rest will go towards repaying the star coins used to buy you.”

Ning Yunyi’s words left Elias completely dumbfounded. He looked at the other party in disbelief: Is it because I’ve been hiding all these years and don’t understand District F, or is this person crazy?

A job paying ten thousand star coins? I couldn’t even find one if I tried, okay?

Wait, that wasn’t right. As an S-rank spiritual power user, he could actually find work as a bodyguard, but since he was a half-beast, it wasn’t as easy as for ordinary people.

Instead, those people coveted his identity.

Ning Yunyi seemed not to notice his stunned expression and continued, “Of course, you can also choose to leave here, but the deadline is fifty years. You need to pay off this debt.”

Elias stood there blankly for a long time before lowering his head and counting on his fingers. After a while, he swayed slightly. Can’t pay it back. Absolutely can’t pay it back.

“E-Even if I stay, paying you back seven thousand a month, I won’t be able to pay it off until I die.” No matter how you looked at it, the other party was losing out.

Ning Yunyi clearly hadn’t expected someone to worry on behalf of their creditor. “So if you stay, you need to work hard. Your monthly salary won’t be ten thousand forever, right?”

Elias’s eyes widened to their limit. “It-It can increase?”

Did West City have rabbit rights? A slave rabbit bought for money could get a raise?

Are you sure this person isn’t running a charity?

Ning Yunyi looked at Elias, who finally showed some youthful demeanor, with a gentle smile in his eyes. “Naturally. Just consider that I find you look a bit familiar, resembling an old friend a little, so I’m being lenient.”

Elias finally snapped back to reality, lowering his head and pretending to touch his nose to hide the astonishment in his eyes. This face doesn’t always bring bad luck; it has its benefits.

He had encountered two good things because of this face in the past year, both life-saving.

One was now: because he looked like an old friend, he was bought, given a job, and didn’t have to have his spiritual power extracted?

The other was over half an year ago. He was fleeing with his little brother because his half-beast identity was exposed. Because it was dark that day, the person only saw a vague silhouette. Even though that person was also being chased and heavily injured, unable to fend for themselves, just one glance at him holding his little brother made the person think he was his own younger brother and little nephew, and desperately protected them all the way.

Unfortunately, the person passed a note for him to deliver and then never woke up again.

Elias pressed his lips together, thinking of the note that had disappeared like a stone into the sea, his eyes lowered and desolate.

A few days ago, when he lured those people away, that person’s spiritual sea was already on the verge of drying up. If he couldn’t rush back in the next two days to transfer spiritual power to maintain a trace of vital signs, then what awaited that person… was only death.

Elias said almost without hesitation, “I choose the first one. I want to stay.”

He didn’t completely believe these people’s words; he had suffered too much for that.

He was afraid that as soon as he believed, what awaited him upon return would be tracking, and then… total annihilation.

So, he couldn’t go back right now.

But if he didn’t go back, that person wouldn’t survive. If he went back, that person might also be taken away, and still wouldn’t survive.

He seemed to be trapped in a situation destined to be a dead end.

Ning Yunyi guessed he would choose this, and even saw that Elias didn’t believe him. However, he was just finding a reason to make the other party stay first. As for whether he would change his mind and leave after trusting him later, that was his business.

Ning Yunyi looked at Young Master Bai. “Later, let Elias follow you to the braised pork shop first. Take him to get familiar with the process this afternoon, and let him watch the shop alone tomorrow.”

Young Master Bai exclaimed, “Ah? What about me?” Wuwu, my braised pork.

Ning Yunyi: “You’re the store manager; you don’t necessarily have to be there all the time. Also, I’ll need to take you out for things in the future.”

Hearing this, Young Master Bai puffed out his chest: My uncle really can’t do without me!

Comparing braised pork with his uncle, he reluctantly… chose his uncle.

Ning Yunyi was amused watching him nod with difficulty. “Don’t worry, I’ll have the shop save a portion for you separately.”

Young Master Bai immediately beamed.

Elias, standing aside, was confused: Braised pork? What braised pork? Could it be those exotic beast meats this person used to tempt him not long ago?

Thinking of this, Elias subconsciously swallowed. So his job… is actually selling braised pork?

Elias was about to follow Young Master Bai away in a trance when Ning Yunyi called him back.

Elias turned back blankly. Just as he was about to ask what was wrong, he saw the red-haired former master, current boss, reaching out towards him.

Elias stepped back warily.

Now, not only Elias but even Young Master Bai, the Big Cat, and the little meow cub all looked over, staring at Elias stepping back and Ning Yunyi’s… extended hand.

The Big Cat narrowed its vertical pupils, eyes darting between Elias and Ning Yunyi, its long tail flicking at an unusually fast frequency.

Young Master Bai opened his mouth in a silent wow.

The little meow cub hugged his small robot and grabbed his father’s leg, warily eyeing the person who might steal his father’s attention.

Ning Yunyi raised an eyebrow, taking in Elias’s reaction. Sure enough, he doesn’t trust me. Look at this reaction; anyone who didn’t know better would think I was going to do something to him.

“I meant to say, the thing on your neck needs to be taken off.”

Following Ning Yunyi’s gaze, Elias touched the thing on his neck, his face flushing red as he stammered, “It-It can’t be taken off. It’s said that once this thing is put on, it can’t be removed.”

That was why he hadn’t thought of escaping, nor dared to escape, fearing there was a tracker inside. Going back would be equivalent to exposing his own nest.

Ning Yunyi looked at it. “Who said that?”

Elias was just about to explain when he saw his boss unexpectedly reach out with both hands. Unknown what he did, but with a sudden fierce tug, the thing that had been tightly fitted and imprisoning his neck was violently ripped apart just like that.

Ripped… apart? A miracle of brute force?

Young Master Bai hadn’t seen this thing before and didn’t think much of it. After all, there was nothing in this world his uncle couldn’t do!

The Big Cat, however, looked over in surprise. When this thing was first developed, its purpose was to control high-risk criminals, which showed it wasn’t something that could be removed just by wanting to.

Yet Ning Yunyi not only did it but actually removed it with a single move.

Ning Yunyi held the broken halves of the device in his hand. “Do you still want this?”
