Chapter 18: He Is Not a Good Person

“Then why were there rumors back in university that you two were dating?”

It had been so long ago that Wen Xuyue was stunned for a moment. Upon realizing what was asked, his face turned furious.

“It was all orchestrated by Xie Miaohan!”

He had fallen in love with Gu Huaiye at first sight at the orientation gala, but he didn’t dare confess directly, afraid it would cause Gu Huaiye to dislike him.

Gu Huaiye seemed to have no desire to continue the conversation. He stood up slowly, staring down at Wen Xuyue from above.

“The amount you embezzled is too large. Be prepared to rot in prison completely.”

Seeing him about to leave, Wen Xuyue quickly stood up as well.

“Gu Xuezhang, everything I said is true! Xie Miaohan is not a good person! I was framed! You have to help me!”

The lawyer blocked the space between the two to prevent Wen Xuyue from getting emotional and hurting Gu Huaiye.

“Do you have evidence?” Gu Huaiye looked at him expressionlessly.

Wen Xuyue froze. After a long while, he shook his head in confusion.

Gu Huaiye scoffed. “Since you have no evidence, how can you say he framed you?”

“But…”

Gu Huaiye didn’t want to listen anymore and interrupted him. “If you have a shred of conscience, refuse my lawyer’s defense. You are not qualified to enjoy the resources I provide.”

Dropping that sentence, Gu Huaiye left with the lawyer.

Wen Xuyue sat in the chair, soul-lost, and burst into tears.

He couldn’t distinguish whether he was feeling regret or fear right now.

Regardless of which it was, he was finished in this life.

After leaving the detention center, Gu Huaiye thanked the lawyer, then got on a bus, leaning against the window and looking out.
