Part 3
On the other side, Ning Yunyi spent the night seemingly running in his dreams, perhaps influenced by Ning’s father’s letter.
When he woke up, he couldn’t remember what he had dreamed.
He went downstairs a bit later than usual. As he walked out of his room, the frantic scurrying sounds downstairs suddenly stopped.
The next moment, the little kitten whooshed up and dove straight into Ning Yunyi’s arms.
Ning Yunyi picked him up and rubbed his furry head. “So energetic early in the morning after sleeping so late yesterday?”
He glanced at the big cat leading the charge.
The big cat was already lying on the floor. Even under Ning Yunyi’s stare, it just flicked its tail. Remembering something halfway, it silently tucked half of its tail away.
But it was too late. Ning Yunyi carried the little kitten downstairs and squatted curiously.
“Stop hiding, I saw it all.” Ning Yunyi poked the big cat, who was playing dead.
The big cat didn’t move, pretending to be asleep.
Finally, under Ning Yunyi’s amused gaze, it opened its beast eyes and flicked out the other half of its hidden tail.
Staring at that tail, Ning Yunyi couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
The big cat’s tail, which had been swaying uncomfortably, instantly stiffened, then hid itself again in annoyance.
Ning Yunyi sat cross-legged on the floor holding the little kitten, reaching out curiously to grab it. “My god, Big Cat, shedding is one thing, but your tail shed until it’s half black and half gray?”
It was his first time seeing shedding change the color directly.
The big cat, hearing Ning Yunyi’s unrestrained laughter, simply raised its paws to cover its big ears, burying its head in the sand.
The little kitten in Ning Yunyi’s arms also laughed so hard he fell over. He had discovered it as soon as he woke up, which was why he chased the big cat desperately to see clearly, but the big cat wouldn’t let him.
This led to the scene of the little cat chasing the big cat early in the morning.
The big cat’s tail was eventually caught by Ning Yunyi. The fur on its tail instantly puffed up, but it dared not pull it back forcefully, so it could only lie there, giving Ning Yunyi a resentful look.
Ning Yunyi had never seen a tail split into two sections with two colors.
It wasn’t that other cats didn’t have this color, but the big cat was originally a gray-and-white cat. How did the color get darker as it shed?
He leaned in to take a look, confirming that the gray-and-white part was still shedding, and only the newly grown back half of the black tail wasn’t.
The big cat lowered its eyes, daring not look at Ning Yunyi, feeling guilty indeed.
It wasn’t a mutation; it was its original color. It had sealed its spiritual sea, and the food Ning Yunyi made back on the Garbage Star suppressed its spiritual rampage.
Its condition had improved a bit.
Later, after arriving here and being allowed upstairs, it had to accompany the little kitten in the study.
For some reason, staying there, it felt its spiritual rampage improving even faster.
When all its fur shed back to its original color, it would mean its spiritual rampage was successfully suppressed, which meant… it could return to human form then?
Ning Yunyi confirmed there was no problem with the big cat’s tail. After the two humans and one cat had breakfast, Ning Yunyi went to the braised pork shop.
When he arrived, the braised pork was already sold out, half an hour earlier than yesterday.
When Ning Yunyi walked into the shop, Elias was cleaning up, and Young Master Bai was crossing his arms, peeking curiously at Elias.
“I wanted to ask just now, why is your forehead bruised? You didn’t come back last night. If my uncle didn’t trust you, I’d really think you ran away. You’re worth thirty million Star Coins, you know. But you’re smart; following my uncle is definitely the right choice.”
Elias finished cleaning up, lowered his eyes hesitantly, then looked up quickly at Young Master Bai. “Little Boss, about what you said yesterday… does it still count?”
“Huh? Yesterday? What counts?” He said a lot of things yesterday; he couldn’t remember them all.
Elias pursed his lips and murmured, “Just… about buying me a wristband… Little Boss, don’t worry, once I get my salary, I’ll pay you back!”
Young Master Bai chuckled. “I thought it was something big. Did you realize yesterday you couldn’t tell me you weren’t coming back because you didn’t have a wristband? You should have bought one earlier; it’s convenient for contact. I’ll advance you a month’s salary later; go buy one.”
Elias breathed a sigh of relief, his eyes brightening. “Thank you, Little Boss!”
He knew the two bosses were the best!
He didn’t want to be trouble. He could have waited for his salary to buy a wristband, but his benefactor woke up yesterday. Although the spiritual rampage was suppressed, he was holding on by sheer will. After asking what he needed to ask, he fell into a coma again.
Elias was anxious. He wanted to find out about the Ning family as soon as possible, but he could only check on the Star Network.
So… he needed a wristband.
Ning Yunyi heard this as he entered. He looked at Elias, specifically staring at the bruise on his forehead.
Elias felt even more panic under his gaze. He hesitated for a moment before walking over. “Boss, I might have caused trouble.”
He hadn’t wanted to mention last night’s events, but since North City knew he was with the boss and couldn’t catch him and his little brother, plus those people last night were beaten half to death by his benefactor, he feared those people couldn’t find him and would blame the boss.
Elias braced himself and told everything, hiding only the part about his benefactor.
Ning Yunyi frowned more as he listened. “You said people from the North Underground City almost took you and your brother away yesterday?”
Elias hummed an assent. “My little brother… is also a red-eyed rabbit.”
Young Master Bai was furious on the side. “They clearly want to snatch our people.” Knowing Elias was bought by them, they still tried to snatch him.
Ning Yunyi guessed his worry. “I’ll have someone look into this.”
Elias was filled with guilt. “I’m sorry… for causing trouble for the boss.”
Ning Yunyi: “Even without you, West City and the other three cities couldn’t coexist peacefully.”
However, Elias actually had a little brother. It wasn’t written in the book, so something must have happened. Perhaps in the book, when Elias was with Ning Xingyao, the brother was already gone.
Otherwise, given Elias’s character, he wouldn’t ignore his little brother.
Ning Yunyi’s gaze fell on his forehead. “Do you want to bring your little brother over too?” Letting one rabbit loose is the same as letting two loose.
Elias’s eyes lit up, then thinking of something, he murmured and shook his head. “Not for now; he’s timid and afraid of strangers.”
He could bring his little brother, but he couldn’t bring his benefactor. If something happened while he was away, he would regret it forever.
Ning Yunyi didn’t insist; bringing him or not was Elias’s freedom. Just then, his wristband beeped.
It was a notification set specifically for the special ID; someone had contacted him.
Ning Yunyi didn’t check it in front of the two. He returned to the castle’s study first. Opening it, surprisingly, it was An Dong’s account, but the person using An Dong’s wristband was Elder An.
[An Dong: Mr. Zong, I am An Dong’s father. I apologize for disturbing you at this time. Although presumptuous, I really can’t think of anyone else who can help save a life right now. Can Mr. Zong send a few gourmet flavors over? Xun Xun’s spiritual rampage has reached level 6 again, and it looks like it’s too late. Mr. Zong, as long as you are willing to save Xun Xun, we can agree to any request.]
Ning Yunyi frowned. Reached level 6? How?
