Chapter 22: Just Play With Him

“It’s not a question of leaving or not. Do you think, with how we are now, we are suitable for a permanent mark?”

“Why not?” Xie Miaohan’s voice was bland; no joy or anger could be heard.

In the darkness, Gu Huaiye couldn’t see Xie Miaohan’s expression, but he found him particularly ridiculous.

Before, no matter how he coaxed, Xie Miaohan wouldn’t agree to a permanent mark.

Even temporary marks were only grudgingly obtained after he got beaten up several times.

It was truly ironic to speak of it.

Before, he refused everything, but now that Gu Huaiye was destitute, he took the initiative to kiss him.

He pulled Xie Miaohan’s arm with one hand and reached for the lamp with the other.

But Xie Miaohan suddenly slapped his hand away, his tone carrying a chill. “I truly regret doing this surgery. For a person like you who has no heart, that I actually used my body to try and keep you—I was truly too stupid.”

“What?”

Xie Miaohan gave a light laugh, seeming to mock him, and also seeming to mock himself.

He lay down, turning his back to Gu Huaiye.

Seeing that he had finally settled down, Gu Huaiye lay down as well.

After disturbing him for three or four days in a row, the messages suddenly stopped.

Worried something happened to him, Xie Miaohan went to the gymnasium Gu Huaiye frequented.

By the volleyball court, he saw Gu Huaiye and Chen Zirui sitting side by side, their backs to him.

Xie Miaohan quietly approached, preparing to greet Gu Huaiye.

Just two meters away, he heard their conversation.

“Are you crazy? You actually fell for an Alpha!”

Gu Huaiye scratched his head, his tone annoyed. “I know I’m crazy too. Sigh, if only he were an Omega, then I definitely wouldn’t have to worry so much.”

Xie Miaohan’s eyes darkened, and he quietly left the gymnasium.

Just as he was preparing to go to the training room, someone rushed up and blocked his way.

But the person in front of him seemed to notice nothing, talking to him on his own accord.

“You are Xie Miaohan, right? I am Wen Xuyue. Can we get to know each other?”

Wen Xuyue got anxious and grabbed his arm directly.

Xie Miaohan’s eyes turned cold, staring deathly at the hand on his arm.

“I want to ask you a favor. I like Gu Xuezhang, I hope you can help set us up.”

Xie Miaohan’s expression changed slightly. “Gu Huaiye?”

“Yes.” Wen Xuyue nodded shyly.

“He is a freshman; why do you call him Xuezhang?”

Wen Xuyue smiled. “Alphas like Omegas who actively show weakness.”

Xie Miaohan curled the corners of his lips, but there was no smile in his eyes.

“Is that so? There’s such a saying.”

“Then you… can you help me?”

Xie Miaohan looked him up and down and revealed a gentle smile.

“Sure.”

After that night, Gu Huaiye could feel that Xie Miaohan had started treating him coldly again.

Gu Huaiye was already used to Xie Miaohan’s silent treatment and chose to ignore it directly.

This was great; he got money and didn’t have to serve Xie Miaohan. Simply perfect.

Gu Huaiye bought a fruit basket from the supermarket, preparing to go to the hospital to keep Father Gu company.

Arriving at the hospital corridor, several doctors and nurses suddenly ran past him hurriedly from behind and entered Father Gu’s ward.

Gu Huaiye’s footsteps paused, and the fruit basket in his hand fell to the ground.

His body stiffened, not daring to take a step forward.

When the doctor opened the door, Xie Miaohan inside happened to turn his head, his line of sight meeting Gu Huaiye’s.

In that instant, he saw a crack in Xie Miaohan’s usually cold and indifferent face; it seemed to reveal panic.

But why panic?

The surrounding sounds suddenly vanished. He saw Xie Miaohan stride toward him and pull him into an embrace.

Patting his back gently, Xie Miaohan’s voice was in his ear.

“Don’t be afraid. Nothing will happen.”

Gu Huaiye opened his mouth, but couldn’t utter a single syllable, his whole body trembling from the cold.

At this moment, another person rushed out of the ward.

It was his Little Uncle, Gu Yuannian.

Gu Yuannian grabbed his collar, furious. “How dare you still be with him! He’s the one who harmed our Gu family to this wretched state!”

“Calm down.” Xie Miaohan held down Gu Yuannian’s arm. “This is a hospital.”

Gu Yuannian glared viciously at Xie Miaohan and yanked his arm away. “Calm down? You tricked me into investing in a rotten project. How can you ask me to calm down? I wish I could perish together with you.”

“Little Uncle.” Gu Huaiye finally reacted, struggling out of Xie Miaohan’s arms. He held Gu Yuannian’s shoulders, his tone urgent. “Why are you here? Did you say something to my dad?”

“Of course I told the truth.” Gu Yuannian looked Gu Huaiye up and down with resentment. “You are so disappointing, still with this slut even now. I must teach you a lesson on behalf of my big brother.”

“Are you crazy?” Gu Huaiye became emotional, his chest heaving violently. “You know perfectly well my dad is in poor health, yet you came to stimulate him. If something happens to him, I won’t forgive you.”

Gu Yuannian knew he had gone too far, but thinking of how he went bankrupt because of Xie Miaohan, he really couldn’t swallow this breath, so he immediately suppressed his guilt.

He pointed at Gu Huaiye and said, “If anything happens to Big Brother, it’s also caused by you, you little brat. back then we all advised you not to marry this slut, but you were blind and insisted on marrying him. Now that something happened, you’re worried your dad will know. Did you think you could hide it from him for a lifetime? F*cking hilarious.”

Gu Huaiye wanted to say more, but looking up, he saw nurses and doctors pushing Father Gu’s bed out.
