Chapter 25: No Chance

Gu Huaiye stared at Xie Miaohan with interest. “Any special feeling?”

Xie Miaohan knew what he was asking.

If there was a special feeling, it was a sudden strong sense of dependence, needing the other’s pheromones for comfort.

But Xie Miaohan wouldn’t tell Gu Huaiye these things.

He knew Gu Huaiye’s nasty personality too well; once he got what he wanted, there was a high probability he wouldn’t cherish it.

“It’s okay.”

Xie Miaohan lowered his head to smoke, his long eyelashes hiding the burning emotions in his eyes.

Not hearing a satisfactory answer, Gu Huaiye looked disappointed.

Could it be that because it was an artificial gland, the probability of being affected was lower?

Gu Huaiye didn’t look for more topics. He stubbed out the cigarette, threw it into the ashtray, and stood up.

“Where are you going?” Xie Miaohan grabbed his wrist.

Gu Huaiye said grumpily, “Where can I go? To sleep, obviously.”

“Not doing it anymore?” Xie Miaohan asked again.

Gu Huaiye looked at him suspiciously. “When did you become so enthusiastic about this kind of thing?”

Before, it was to the extent of getting beaten just for a touch.

“Forget it. If not, then let’s sleep.” Xie Miaohan let go of him.

Gu Huaiye shrugged, climbed into bed, and fell asleep instantly.

After finishing one cigarette, Xie Miaohan smoked another.

The anxiety rose again, even worse than before.

Xie Miaohan touched the back of his neck. The Wisteria pheromones couldn’t help but spill out. His breath hitched; he immediately walked to the cabinet, took out an inhibitor, and injected it without any hesitation.

Then he lay down beside Gu Huaiye, pulled him into his arms, and greedily inhaled the residual Alpha scent on him.

Xie Miaohan let out a self-deprecating laugh.

Just like with the surgery five years ago, he was truly crazy.

When Gu Huaiye woke up, Xie Miaohan was still sleeping.

This struck Gu Huaiye as quite rare. Usually, this guy acted like he didn’t need sleep; it was rare to see him sleep in.

Gu Huaiye wanted to get up, but his waist was wrapped tightly. Looking down, he saw Xie Miaohan’s arm.

He laughed speechlessly and used some force to pull Xie Miaohan’s arm away.

This action startled Xie Miaohan awake directly.

His eyes held a ruthless glint, like a wild wolf whose territory had been invaded. Only after seeing clearly who was in front of him did he return to his usual cold and indifferent look.

“Good morning.” Xie Miaohan closed his eyes again, burying his head in Gu Huaiye’s shoulder.

“Let go of me.” Gu Huaiye patted his arm. “Holding on all night, aren’t your arms sore?”

Xie Miaohan frowned unhappily. “Why are you up so early today?”

Gu Huaiye picked up the pajamas on the floor and mocked, “It’s not that I’m early, but you are too late. You seem to be home every day recently; could it be your ability is lacking and you got fired?”

He knew Xie Miaohan had joined a big company, but as for which one, he never asked and couldn’t be bothered to care.

“I’ll go tomorrow.” Xie Miaohan said, “No need to worry, I can afford to support you.”

Gu Huaiye scoffed. “What kind of support is this? back then, Laozi went in and out of auctions freely, spending millions in one go without blinking an eye.”

Xie Miaohan fell silent, seeming to seriously consider this sentence.

When Gu Huaiye had put on his clothes, he heard Xie Miaohan say, “If you satisfy me tonight, I’ll take you to an auction. Buy whatever you like, regardless of the amount.”

Gu Huaiye: “…”

“You want to squeeze me dry, don’t you?”

Xie Miaohan raised his eyebrows, his voice carrying obvious amusement.

“Do you regret being an Alpha? My stamina is much better than yours. You should have been the one to do the surgery back then; at least I could satisfy you without complaining.”

These words directly provoked Gu Huaiye. He took off the pajamas he had just put on with difficulty and threw them on the floor again.

He even reminded him midway which items were more expensive and valuable.

Gu Huaiye instantly lost interest and shoved the bidding paddle into Xie Miaohan’s arms.

“I need to go to the restroom.”

“I’ll go with you.”

Gu Huaiye gave him a strange look. “That’s the Alpha restroom. What is an Omega like you joining the fun for?”

“I can wait for you at the door.”

“Treating me like a prisoner?” Gu Huaiye glared at him. “Don’t follow me.”

Leaving Xie Miaohan behind, Gu Huaiye didn’t go to the restroom but went outside to smoke.

Halfway through smoking, he heard Chen Zirui’s voice.

“Brother Gu.”

Gu Huaiye turned his head to greet Chen Zirui.

“What a coincidence, you’re at the auction too. How come I didn’t see you just now?”

Chen Zirui said, “I was sitting further back. My brother’s birthday is coming up soon, so I came specially to bid on a nice gift for him.”

Gu Huaiye nodded, taking out a cigarette and offering it to Chen Zirui.

“Want one?”

“No thanks, I quit.”

Surprise appeared on Gu Huaiye’s face. He looked Chen Zirui up and down carefully and found that he seemed to have matured.

Dressed in a suit and leather shoes, he no longer looked comically like a child wearing an adult’s suit.

“Brother Gu, seeing you in fairly good condition, I’m relieved.” Chen Zirui sighed. “I was quite worried about you a few days ago. I was afraid your Little Uncle’s matter would hit you hard.”

Gu Huaiye frowned. “What happened to my Little Uncle?”

Chen Zirui seemed to realize something and waved his hand hurriedly. “Nothing, he is fine.”

This made Gu Huaiye even more suspicious.

“If you don’t tell the truth, I’ll go to my Little Uncle’s house right now.”

“Hey, don’t go.” Chen Zirui grabbed Gu Huaiye’s arm, unable to bear it. “Your Little Uncle committed suicide a few days ago. I even attended his funeral. Seeing you weren’t there, I was worried about you the whole time.”

Unexpectedly, Gu Huaiye knew nothing about it.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have said anything.

Chen Zirui wished he could slap himself twice; he could never keep his mouth shut.

Gu Huaiye’s face looked terrible, his eyes empty and lost.

Only when the cigarette butt burned his finger did he come back to his senses.

“Thank you for telling me this.” Gu Huaiye stubbed out the cigarette butt and threw it into the trash can casually.

Chen Zirui looked at Gu Huaiye with concern. “Are you okay? Do you need me to keep you company?”

Gu Huaiye laughed, as if he didn’t care at all, his tone lazy. “I survived my dad dying, let alone my Little Uncle.”

“But…”

Gu Huaiye interrupted him, emphasizing his tone.

“I’m not that fragile.”
