Chapter 3

Sitting in the back seat, Shen Yuqing’s eyes snapped open. Huh? What happened?

How did the male lead’s frozen heart warm up?

He asked: [What happened?]

The System took a long while before stammering out: [Host, I don’t know.]

Shen Yuqing raised an eyebrow slightly. [You don’t know?]

The System explained: [My energy comes from the pool of the World Heart. Right now, this world has problems, and the World Heart requires massive energy to sustain it. I can only draw a tiny bit, so sometimes I can’t track certain information points.]

Shen Yuqing choked on this long explanation.

He now had good news and bad news.

Good news: He has a cheat (Gold Finger). Bad news: It’s garbage.

Shen Yuqing felt his temples throbbing wildly. Just then, the car came to a stop.

The driver in the front said, “Young Master, we’ve arrived.”

Shen Yuqing opened his eyes and looked out. It was a magnificently built villa, brightly lit. The moment the car stopped, the main gate was opened from the inside.

He got out of the car. A servant came forward to take the things from his hands. Shen Yuqing felt awkward for a split second but quickly handed them over. He asked, “Is my brother and everyone home?”

Thanks to the System’s briefing, Shen Yuqing roughly understood the Shen family’s current situation. The Shen parents were semi-retired and flew around the world constantly.

The main person in charge of the company now was Shen Zhen. Shen Zhen’s wife—his sister-in-law—was a famous designer, and they had twins, a boy and a girl.

The servant replied, “Yes, they are.”

Shen Yuqing pursed his lips. Looks like I have a tough battle to face!

He took a deep breath and stepped through the door. But just as he stepped inside, before he could clearly see the scene within, the System’s notification in his brain arrived first.

[Target Character: Pei Yiyan. Blackening Value: 80. Favorability: -65. Mission Progress: 1%. Character Current State: Unawakened.]

[Host, that is your fiancé,] the System reminded him.

Shen Yuqing’s gaze fell straight onto the man sitting on the sofa, talking to Shen Zhen.

The man was wearing dark green loungewear, sitting sideways to the door. Whatever he was discussing with Shen Zhen, they both looked happy.

The noise of him entering naturally didn’t escape their notice. Shen Yuqing saw Pei Yiyan turn his head in his direction. However, his eyes didn’t land on Shen Yuqing immediately. It was only after a moment that he seemed to follow the sound and “look” toward Shen Yuqing.

Shen Yuqing felt his temples throbbing again. Pei Yiyan, his blind fiancé.

He had just sent away a Buddha, and now here comes a God!

Even a donkey in a production team deserves a break!

Shen Zhen frowned as soon as he saw him standing at the door. “Come here.”

Shen Yuqing walked over. Shen Zhen said, “Do you know what time it is? Yiyan has been waiting for you all this time.”

Shen Yuqing instinctively looked at Pei Yiyan sitting on the sofa. Now that they were practically face-to-face, he could observe Pei Yiyan more directly.

The dark green loungewear suited him perfectly. A white cane rested against his right leg, facilitating his movement.

Shen Yuqing cleared his throat lightly but didn’t speak immediately.

Shen Zhen spoke again, “Yiyan, it’s getting late. Go upstairs and rest early.”

Shen Yuqing was eager for that. “Brother, then I…”

Before he could finish, Shen Zhen glared at him. His tone, however, remained gentle as he addressed Pei Yiyan. To Shen Yuqing, he signaled, I have words for you. You stay.

Pei Yiyan kept a faint smile on his face. “Alright, Brother Zhen. I’ll go up first then.”

He picked up his cane and stood up. Only then did Shen Yuqing notice that Pei Yiyan walked with a limp.

The System chimed in: [Five years ago, Pei Yiyan and his parents were in a car accident. His parents didn’t make it and passed away. Although he survived, his eyes, glands, and legs were damaged.]

Just as Shen Yuqing was feeling a pang of pity, the System added: [But he will recover later, don’t worry.]

[…Can’t you finish your sentences in one go?] Shen Yuqing wanted to roll his eyes.

Pei Yiyan slowly made his way up to the second floor leaning on his cane. Once Shen Zhen was sure he was gone, he spoke up: “Kneel.”

Plop. Shen Yuqing slid to his knees instantly. He explained rapidly, “Brother, it’s a misunderstanding, really! You know me! Would I dare drug someone?”

Seeing Shen Yuqing’s sincere face, Shen Zhen’s anger subsided slightly. He looked at his brother’s legs and said, “You knew perfectly well that Yiyan was coming to our house today, yet you came back so late.”

Pei Yiyan’s current situation in the Pei family was somewhat awkward, so after the two announced their engagement, the Shen family suggested he come live with them.

But the Pei family didn’t want to release him so quickly, so they agreed on a compromise: Pei Yiyan would spend half the month at the Pei house and half at the Shen house.

Shen Yuqing didn’t make a sound. He didn’t know this, but the original host did. The original host had done it on purpose.

Shen Zhen saw Shen Yuqing bowing his head and acting obedient, so he waved his hand. “Forget it. But I’m telling you, act with propriety. If I hear about you doing anything like what happened today again, I’ll break your legs. Get up.”

Shen Yuqing slowly stood up from the floor. Shen Zhen added, “I’ve restored your cards, but there’s a limit. Save your money.”

With that, he got up and went upstairs to his room.

The optical computer on Shen Yuqing’s wrist dinged. He picked it up to look.

It was a text message from the bank, stating the limit.

Shen Yuqing had only glanced at it casually, but his eyes widened in shock. Okay, okay, okay! Since when is a credit limit in the tens of millions considered ‘limited’?!

He finally understood why the System said Shen Yuqing was spoiled at home.

Seemed like he had no money, but in reality, he was still a rich second-generation heir.

Shen Yuqing turned off the optical computer, thinking that this interstellar society certainly had a lot of novel gadgets.

He went upstairs and found the original host’s room according to the System’s prompts. Unexpectedly, upon pushing the door open, he saw Pei Yiyan sitting quietly on a chair inside the room.

Shen Yuqing retracted the foot he had just stepped inside.

[What’s going on? Why is Pei Yiyan in the original host’s room?]

The System replied: [The two are engaged. Isn’t it normal to share a room?]

Although it said that, it explained the reason.

The original host naturally disliked this fiancé. He disliked him before, and he disliked him even more now that he was disabled.

But Mother Shen and Mother Pei had been friends for decades. Since Pei Yiyan grew up all alone, they naturally wanted to help him, so despite the original host making a huge fuss, the engagement was set.

After it was set, the original host, refusing to accept it, began thinking of ways to torment Pei Yiyan, trying to make him withdraw from the engagement voluntarily.

Shen Yuqing wanted to ask how he tormented him, but then he heard a sound from the stairs. He turned to look and saw a servant carrying a woven basket up. The basket was covered with a handmade cloth that looked like silk.

His eyelid twitched. He had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the servant stopped in front of him. “Young Master Shen, the items you purchased arrived today. I have sterilized everything inside and out for you.”

Shen Yuqing took the small basket, not knowing what was inside. He nodded absently. “Okay.”

The servant went back downstairs.

Shen Yuqing looked down at the thing he was carrying, then dawdled into the bedroom.

Pei Yiyan maintained his posture sitting on the chair. Shen Yuqing didn’t know what to say, so he randomly found a place to put down the things the servant gave him. As he raised his hand to leave, he accidentally brushed against the handmade cloth, and it slid to the floor.

Shen Yuqing looked into the basket.

Handcuffs, leather whips, ball gags…

Shen Yuqing’s eyes went round. No way.

Brother, you guys play wild!
