The Coveted Gloomy Beta Roommate Chapter 4.2

Part 2

Every time he saw Zhou Lin smiling gently and politely at everyone, he felt it was fake as hell.

If they really discussed who could be befriended in the dorm, Tang Xingye could say there wasn’t a single person. Even the other Beta, upon seeing him, simply stopped coming to the dorm, renting a place outside and offering a hypocritical apology.

Takeout was expensive. Tang Xingye had never eaten durian pizza. After thanking him, he took it. Eating two bites, he thought to himself that it was indeed a high-end product, much sweeter than the apples he had eaten.

Zhou Lin handed him a disposable paper cup containing the alcoholic beverage. “It’s rare for it to be just the two of us. Want to try a drink?”

Tang Xingye lowered his head, seeming persuaded to accept it.

He didn’t like alcohol, but since he was eating someone else’s food, he took small sips of the drink. The slightly bitter taste made him frown internally.

Fortunately, Zhou Lin didn’t pour much, as if just letting him taste it, and he finished it quickly.

But as soon as he touched alcohol, his face heated up. His beautiful, cold face flushed, his lips parted slightly, and his collar was dampened with a thin layer of sweat, vaguely revealing the snowy flesh under the shirt.

A looming pink hue rose and fell with his breathing.

The gaze shifted to his moist lips, glistening with a rippling sheen. Zhou Lin rubbed his fingertips together, then chuckled lightly. “If you can’t drink, better not drink.”

The alcohol content was low, so Tang Xingye wouldn’t get drunk. His thoughts were a bit slow, but his consciousness was clear. He nodded slightly.

Zhou Lin took out a workbook and leaned closer to him. “The problem you explained last time, you haven’t finished explaining it.”

Tang Xingye’s body, tense from the Alpha’s proximity, relaxed. Zhou Lin asking him for help with schoolwork always gave rise to a secret sense of superiority in his heart.

These Alphas born with silver spoons don’t know everything either.

In the dorm, Tang Xingye hadn’t smelled Zhou Lin’s pheromones yet, which made him tolerate the other’s intimacy a bit more.

He explained the problem to Zhou Lin. The other party listened seriously and could keep up with his train of thought, giving Tang Xingye a sense of accomplishment.

“Next time, don’t eat strong-smelling things in the dorm.” A cold voice suddenly cut in.

Lin Mo had appeared at the door at some point, wearing rimless glasses and holding a laptop, obviously just back from the lab. He scanned the dorm with a frown, finally fixing his gaze on Zhou Lin, his brows furrowing even tighter.

Without waiting for a response, he strode to the window and threw it wide open with a swish. The night wind, wrapped in a chill, poured in, instantly dispersing the smell of food in the room.

Tang Xingye stiffened for a moment. The pizza suddenly became hard to swallow, stuck in his throat.

Lin Mo was the one in the dorm who despised him the most, the one who looked down on him the most.

Clearly, Zhou Lin was the one who invited him to eat, yet Lin Mo showed such obvious rejection towards him.

Many emotions flashed through Tang Xingye’s heart. He naturally swallowed the food in his mouth. When he looked up, his expression was very faint. “Understood.”

“We’re all in the same dorm, don’t be so serious,” Zhou Lin smoothed things over with a smile, pushing the workbook towards Tang Xingye again.

Lin Mo frowned, moved his chair far away from them, opened his laptop, and continued writing his report.

Tang Xingye had lost the patience to continue explaining in detail. He quickly wrote down more detailed steps for the solution, rapidly finished the food at hand, stood up, and took his clothes to go shower.

Zhou Lin watched his back. Behind the frosted glass, the silhouette was hazy—it was the human body proportions every artist loved.

Drinking a little wine made him look aroused. Wet beads of sweat covered his gland, his white-tinged-with-pink skin glowing with a glistening luster, practically seducing someone to bite right in and mark him.

Such eroticism should appear on a streetwalker Omega, not a Beta like Tang Xingye.

Staring at Tang Xingye’s long, pale hands, one wanted to ask: Can you hold that thick, terrifying gland? Aren’t you afraid of getting dirty?

A Beta’s reproductive cavity was narrow to begin with; the knotting had to be deep, and it was very difficult to clean.

Thinking this, his gentle smile converged. His gaze fell back on the clean, neat handwriting, and he closed the book casually.

The dorm suddenly fell silent, save for the splashing sound of water from the bathroom.

Zhou Lin swiped his phone screen in boredom. The same message popped up—”Bro, can you share Tang Xingye’s WeChat?” He sneered, locked the screen directly, and placed the phone face down on the table.

Steam rose, seeping out moist heat from the door crack. The swaying silhouette behind the frosted glass and the sound of water seemed like some kind of secret suggestion.

Under the hot water, the snowy skin turned pink. Water droplets rolled off the small, rounded gland, sliding down the indentation of the spine, forking at the tailbone, and disappearing into…

Zhou Lin’s Adam’s apple rolled slightly. He took a sip of wine. Turning his head, he looked at the instigator, tapping his fingers lightly on the table twice. “Look how you scared him.”

Lin Mo took off his glasses and looked back coldly. “What do you want to do?”

Zhou Lin spread his hands, showing an innocent smile. “What can I do? Just building a good relationship with a roommate.”

Looking at Zhou Lin’s smile, Lin Mo’s frown deepened. “If you are very idle, go solve the company’s matters instead of calling me back to watch you play this boring game.”

“Boring—” Zhou Lin dragged out the tone. “Does Scholar Lin have anything interesting in his brain besides experiments?”

Lin Mo’s lip line tightened. Just as he was about to speak—

The bathroom door suddenly opened. Steaming heat wrapped in the scent of soap surged out.

The Beta’s skin was very white. A large area of skin at his neck was exposed, steamed a pale pink by the water vapor. The degenerated, leaf-shaped gland still bore a faint red mark.

Tang Xingye stood at the door drying his hair. Water droplets from the ends of his hair dripped onto the tender pink gland, winding a crystal-clear trail of water that rolled onto his collarbone and finally disappeared into his clothes.

The air solidified instantly.

Tang Xingye looked up and noticed the chatterbox inside had suddenly stopped. Both of their gazes turned to him in unison, as if there was some topic he couldn’t hear.

“What are you chatting about?” Tang Xingye sensed their gazes, looking at Lin Mo, then at Zhou Lin.

These two aren’t secretly badmouthing me, are they?

Lin Mo quickly retracted his gaze, as if uninterested, and continued writing his report. The sound of the pen scratching across the paper was exceptionally clear.

“The problem from earlier.”

Tang Xingye didn’t believe it. He clearly felt the gaze just now, like the touch of a snake’s tongue licking across the back of his neck.

Looking at his gland?

This realization made his throat tighten, but soon, he found it laughable.

What is there to look at on a Beta’s gland?

It was just those two Alphas judging him with condescending eyes again.

Realizing his roommates looked down on him, Tang Xingye’s self-esteem didn’t take much of a hit. He looked down on these Alphas just the same; he prided himself on his learning ability not losing to theirs.

These Alphas always thought they were the center of the world, unaware that in his eyes, the pheromones they were so proud of were nothing but the base roots of animal instinct.

Zhou Lin took a box of band-aids from the drawer and handed it to him, his eyes holding that smile Tang Xingye hated the most. He tapped his own neck, reminding him kindly, “The skin is a bit broken. Put one on.”

Tang Xingye remembered the scene of being pinned under Lu Zhi. His expression turned a bit ugly, and he frowned slightly. “No need, I’m not an Omega.”

He hadn’t been bitten open, so there was no need to patch it up.

His nose was filled with a cold scent. Zhou Lin recalled the scene at the restaurant. His Adam’s apple rolled slightly, his eyes flashing with a strange playfulness, while the corners of his lips maintained a gentle smile. “If the wound isn’t treated, an infection will be troublesome.”

Tang Xingye saw him staring at the packaging box in his fingertips and suddenly understood something. Zhou Lin’s usual familiarity of calling him brother, those seemingly kind actions—they were all to deliberately disgust him.

Just like now, hypocritically handing over a band-aid, just to see his embarrassed, wretched state as a Beta.

A sudden inspiration struck him, and he changed his mind.

Since Zhou Lin was pretending to be familiar to deliberately disgust him, he could disgust him back. Let’s see who can’t stand it first.

The sound of the button popping open in the silence was exceptionally crisp.

Tang Xingye unhurriedly pulled open his collar, completely exposing his soft, white neck to Zhou Lin. The small gland bulged slightly, the surrounding snowy flesh still holding tiny water droplets, looking as if waiting for someone to suck them.

“Okay.” He tilted his head slightly, his long eyelashes trembling lightly, casting fragmented shadows under his eyes.

Those beautiful eyes, refracted by the light, shone nearly pale gray, like a quiet lake, forever reflecting only the person before them.

Just being gazed at makes one unconsciously want to hold their breath.

Tang Xingye lowered his eyes and said softly, “I can’t see it. I’ll have to trouble you.”
