Chapter 28: I Won’t Disturb You Anymore
Xie Miaohan’s handsome face lost its color, his voice trembling as never before, “Gu Huaiye, come down first. It’s dangerous there.”
Seeing him like this, the corners of Gu Huaiye’s mouth couldn’t help but turn up.
“Have you fallen in love with me?”
Xie Miaohan lightened his breathing and nodded. “Yes.”
Gu Huaiye’s eyes changed slightly, unsure if it was disappointment or helplessness.
“Too late,” Gu Huaiye said. “Maybe the permanent mark changed you, or maybe my bankruptcy made you mistake guilt for love, but no matter what, I don’t want to know the answer anymore.”
“Gu Huaiye! Come down first, we can talk about the rest properly.” Xie Miaohan’s voice became extremely anxious.
Gu Huaiye stared quietly at Xie Miaohan.
Looking at this man he had loved for more than ten years, he wanted to memorize the other’s face. If there was a next life, he must avoid this person.
“Hey, remember to get the mark removal surgery.”
Gu Huaiye smiled with relief at Xie Miaohan. “I originally wanted to take revenge on you, but with things developing like this, it’s not solely your fault either. Forget it, forget it. You go get the surgery; removing the mark or removing the gland, it’s up to you.”
Gu Huaiye took one last drag of the cigarette, threw the butt on the ground, and blew a smoke ring at Xie Miaohan with a lazy expression.
“You caused my family to be ruined and dead, but I’m not a good person either. I turned your body into this, neither human nor ghost; we can consider it even. I don’t want to hold grudges back and forth; it’s exhausting. Forget about starting over; I’m not that cheap. So after you finish the surgery, hurry up and forget me.”
Gu Huaiye closed his eyes and fell backward.
“Gu Huaiye!”
Xie Miaohan’s eyes were about to split. He rushed up and reached out to grab him.
He only touched the other’s pajamas. Before he could grab hold, the fabric slipped from his hand.
Bang—
A loud noise came from downstairs. Immediately after, the surrounding sounds became blurred and distorted.
Xie Miaohan knelt on the ground, one hand supporting himself on the floor, clutching his chest and breathing hard.
His vision became gray, his hands and feet ice-cold, as if this body was no longer his.
“Wh… why…”
Xie Miaohan laughed out in pain, then struggled to crawl up, walking downstairs with unsteady steps.
Arriving at the yard, he saw Gu Huaiye lying in a pool of blood, eyes closed tightly as if asleep.
He walked forward and hugged the cold body, unable to warm it up no matter how he tried.
He brushed away the hair on Gu Huaiye’s forehead and used his sleeve to wipe clean the bloodstains on Gu Huaiye’s face.
“You never loved me either.” Xie Miaohan laughed self-deprecatingly, his eyes becoming empty, murmuring, “You are good to everyone, except me. In your eyes, I was just a plaything, never respected by you.”
The corpse in his arms naturally couldn’t give him a response.
A mouthful of sweet fishiness surged up his throat. Blood slid from the corner of his mouth and dripped onto Gu Huaiye’s cheek.
“Sorry.” Xie Miaohan immediately wiped it off for him.
Xie Miaohan hugged Gu Huaiye tightly, pressing his cheek against Gu Huaiye’s forehead.
“Sleep. I won’t disturb you anymore.”
Early in the morning, the servant coming to work saw the scene in the yard and screamed in fright.
Half an hour later, police cars and ambulances arrived.
Xie Miaohan hugged Gu Huaiye very tightly; the medical staff and police couldn’t separate them no matter what.
Helpless, a high-ranking Alpha police officer released pheromones to suppress Xie Miaohan.
Xie Miaohan watched helplessly as Gu Huaiye’s body was carried away. In his agitation, the blood suppressed in his throat could no longer be held down; after spitting out a mouthful of blood, he fainted.
When he woke up again, his expression returned to indifference, as if he had put on a mask, his face no longer showing emotions.
Both the roof and the yard of the villa had surveillance. After the police confirmed it was suicide, they quickly closed the case.
During the last statement with Xie Miaohan, the police officer looked at the pitiful Omega in front of him and couldn’t help but comfort him, “Please accept my condolences.”
Xie Miaohan lifted his eyes and looked at the police officer calmly.
“I’ve been liberated, why offer condolences?”
The police officer was stunned.
Due to his work, he had seen countless people. This was his first time seeing an artificial Omega, and he roughly guessed the situation.
Originally a powerful, high-level Alpha, forcibly operated on to become a low-quality Omega. He probably only had hate and no love for this husband.
The police officer understood and sympathized with such a person internally. During the interrogation process, he didn’t make things difficult for Xie Miaohan.
“Sorry to disturb you during this time. We won’t come again in the future.”
“En, thank you.” Xie Miaohan nodded.
Before leaving, the police officer pointed to the back of his own neck, hinting to the other party.
“There is a mark removal surgery that is quite mature now. I suggest you get it done.”
Xie Miaohan didn’t say yes or no.
The police officer felt this sentence was also quite offensive, so he left hurriedly.
Gu Huaiye’s death caused a huge uproar in District A.
In just a few short months, three people in the Gu family had died in succession. This made many people feel the Gu family’s feng shui was ominous, and Xie Miaohan was even more of a jinx.
This led to very few people daring to attend Gu Huaiye’s funeral, afraid of catching bad luck.
Chen Zirui came.
Dressed in a black suit, his eyes red and swollen, he stared at Gu Huaiye’s portrait in disbelief.
“How could this be… how could he suddenly commit suicide when he was fine…”
Chen Zirui turned his head to look at the expressionless Xie Miaohan aside, anger and hatred surging in his heart.
He strode over and grabbed Xie Miaohan by the collar.
“What exactly did you do to him? I saw him fine a few days ago; how could he suddenly commit suicide?”
Xie Miaohan lowered his eyes to stare at Chen Zirui, lips tight, seemingly not intending to answer.
“You are such a f*cking bitch!”
Chen Zirui raised his fist, preparing to smash it into Xie Miaohan’s face.
Father Chen arrived and scolded Chen Zirui’s behavior in time.
“Chen Zirui, let go of him!” Father Chen said with slight anger, “You’ll go to jail for hitting an Omega. Can you have a clear head?”
Chen Zirui panted heavily, lowering his fist unwillingly.
“Brother Gu really had eight lifetimes of bad luck meeting you.”
Xie Miaohan laughed lightly. “I was originally an Alpha. He ruined my future; who exactly is the unlucky one?”
“But he never treated you poorly! If you were really unwilling, wouldn’t it have been fine to just reject his proposal?”
“With the family background there, could I reject it?”
Chen Zirui’s breath hitched. “So you never had feelings for him?”
Xie Miaohan was extremely indifferent, as if talking about something he didn’t care about at all.
“He was my enemy. I couldn’t hate him enough; how could I fall in love with him?”
“Cao!”
Chen Zirui couldn’t bear it anymore and raised his fist again.
Father Chen’s face looked terrible. He hurriedly stepped forward to pull Chen Zirui’s arm. “Don’t cause trouble here. Go back with me.”
Chen Zirui pushed Father Chen away, glaring viciously at Xie Miaohan.
“Someone like you will go to hell sooner or later!”
Father Chen was startled and forcibly dragged Chen Zirui out.
“If you keep messing around, Laozi will beat you to death when we get back.”
Just as the two reached the door, Xie Miaohan suddenly spoke.
“What did you say to Gu Huaiye at the auction that day?”
Chen Zirui’s footsteps paused.
Perhaps to seek justice for Gu Huaiye, he turned around and deliberately lied to disgust Xie Miaohan.
“What else could I say? Just complaining about you.” Chen Zirui said through gritted teeth, “He said he was disgusted to death by your pheromones, cheap and smelly. Every time he marked you, he almost vomited.”
“Alright, say less.”
Father Chen felt it was a bit excessive, covered Chen Zirui’s mouth, and dragged him away.
Xie Miaohan’s eyes couldn’t reveal his emotions. After a long while, he lifted his eyes to look at the portrait.
In the portrait, the young man’s smile was brilliant and bright, just like when they first met, stinging Xie Miaohan’s eyes.
“Is what he said true?” Xie Miaohan asked softly.
Unfortunately, no one would ever give him the answer.
