Chapter 60 part 1

The livestream for the third stop of Journey with Little Ones Through Mountains and Rivers opened promptly at eight in the morning.

Since Jiang Shulu and Tang Yue still needed to fly to the city where Yao Lixin was located to rendezvous, the livestream feed began with Tang Yue and Liu Xichao’s side.

As soon as the stream went live, the long-awaiting audience flooded in.

“Yay! We can finally watch the livestream!”

“I’ve watched the videos from the previous episodes so many times they’ve practically developed a digital patina.”

“Hahaha, my boyfriend asked me, ‘Aren’t there four people? Why are there only three cameras?’ Of course!—”

“Is Tang Yue wearing Jiang Shulu’s clothes?”

“Is that really news? That day they were photographed buying egg burgers on the street, he was wearing Jiang Shulu’s clothes. People have already analyzed this!”

“Why does the vibe between them feel a bit off?”

It wasn’t just the audience’s delusion; even the staff who came to film felt that the atmosphere between Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu was a little strange.

Tang Yue’s gaze remained fixed on Jiang Shulu, while Jiang Shulu was helping Tang Yue put on his shoulder bag.

The bag was a new model that Tang Yue’s fans recognized at a glance. It was from a niche brand Tang Yue had publicly stated he liked and even endorsed in the past; the embroidery featured small animals.

Logically, this scene should have been dripping with sweetness, but with one looking eagerly and the other avoiding eye contact, the tension was visible to the naked eye.

Tang Yue had originally thought he and Jiang Shulu would be “less than restrained” for the past two days, but in the end, nothing happened.

Jiang Shulu had asked Liang Yi for Tang Yue’s physical examination reports overnight, along with some hospital records from his regular checkups.

He looked stern while making the phone call. Although Tang Yue was nestled in his arms, playing with Jiang Shulu’s hand, he still felt a bit guilty.

After all, he was the one who told Jiang Shulu not to use protection.

But Jiang Shulu used it anyway. The man was consistently cautious in everything he did.

Perhaps because their first time together was too frantic and resulted in a child, this deep exchange after a long reunion didn’t give Tang Yue that sense of barrier-free intimacy he expected.

Later, Jiang Shulu didn’t say anything, and Tang Yue, caressed into a daze, eventually fell asleep.

But when he woke up, Jiang Shulu was still pondering this issue.

Tang Yue even overheard Jiang Shulu consulting about male surgery!

The two had talked before the program crew arrived, but they hadn’t reached an agreement, resulting in the scene the audience was seeing now.

“Tang Yue looks so aggrieved.”

“But Jiang Shulu looks quite considerate too. Weren’t they photographed being passionately in love a few days ago? What’s the situation?”

“I’m already starting to worry about the daily life of this third stop.”

This variety show had by now become a universally known group variety show and romance show. If Yao Lixin brought his wife along, the romance show vibe might be even more pronounced.

At least the other three had a romantic storyline, while the two kids were just playing by themselves, occasionally having to solve emotional problems for the adults.

But this didn’t stop the show from rushing to the top of the charts for the second half of the year.

Coupled with the falling out between Jiang Shulu and the Jiang family, as soon as today’s livestream started, the servers nearly crashed.

The staff had prepared a pile of questions to ask this freshly minted couple on the road.

On the day Tang Yue and Jiang Shulu left hand-in-hand, countless tabloid headlines appeared out of nowhere.

Most of the staff had also been poisoned by these headlines. When they saw the real people, their minds were full of those melodramatic title tropes, and they desperately wanted to know when their feelings for each other actually began.

Perhaps because Jiang Shulu, though smiling, gave off enough of a vibe that he was in a bad mood, the staff had to turn to Tang Yue: “Mr. Tang, could you answer a few questions for the program?”

Tang Yue glanced at Jiang Shulu, who was checking Tang Yue’s ID documents again.

Tang Yue went to the cabinet in Jiang Shulu’s study and took out a bouquet of copper flowers.

“What is that?”

“Flowers? They look a bit familiar.”

“They’re actually quite pretty.”

“Damn, why is there a whole cabinet of them!”

“This kind of shot always gives me the feeling of peeping into a young couple’s cohabitation room.”

“You can tell at a glance it’s Jiang Shulu’s house. It lacks a lived-in feel, which fits his persona.”

“Those are copper flowers, right? It’s the same bouquet from the elopement that day!! I remember someone asking Tang Yue in an interview what love was, and he said it was copper flowers. Many people didn’t understand.”

“How did the sisters in the comments recognize them at a glance!!”

“Thinking about it is terrifying. So many copper flowers… wasn’t Jiang Shulu abroad before? Did he make them himself?”

“He’s been in love for a long time, right?”

“Could it be a mutual secret crush? Missing out for so many years and having a child in the mix… isn’t that too angsty?”

Tang Yue: “Can I take them with me?”

Jiang Shulu nodded: “Let me carry them. You might get scratched easily holding them like that.”

His voice was still exceptionally gentle. When Jiang Shulu took the copper flowers, Tang Yue couldn’t help but grab his hand.

Tang Yue: “Can we hold hands?”

Jiang Shulu smiled: “Why do you need to ask? You can do whatever you want.”

Over the past two days, he had reviewed Tang Yue’s previous medical records, including those from his three years in the group.

Tang Yue’s body had been fine before, but differences were detected after he had relations with Jiang Shulu.

Liang Yi had given Jiang Shulu the contact information for the medical institution very early on and had explained Tang Yue’s physical condition back then.

Jiang Shulu had used this contact information to find the other party involved in the birth.

Liang Yi was a woman, had no intention of having children, and didn’t care about inheritance.

She still remembered the feeling of holding Tang Mian for the first time.

It was so soft it made one want to cry. Liang Yi wasn’t young at the time, yet she felt a sense of reclaiming the familial affection she had missed in her childhood.

So, late at night after Tang Yue had fallen asleep, when Jiang Shulu asked Liang Yi why, she said the same thing Tang Yue had.

Liang Yi: “He was willing.”

Liang Yi: “If you don’t want them, you can go get the surgery yourself.”

Jiang Shulu gave a hum of acknowledgment.

Liang Yi: “But you’d better discuss it with Tang Yue. I believe you will respect his opinion, but Jiang Shulu, Tang Yue has regrets.”

Jiang Shulu barely slept all night after hanging up the phone.

He read through his plans repeatedly, including the revenge against Jiang Kaicheng and protecting his mother Zhou Maiyin’s secret.

He hoped she would remain the missing sister in the eyes of her biological parents, rather than someone who died lonely in a cannibalistic wealthy family conspiracy.

But now, Jiang Shulu didn’t want to do that anymore.

When he learned of his origins as a child, he had asked his mother, Do you regret it?

That year, Zhou Maiyin was about the same age as Tang Yue was now.

The woman’s body had become withered from illness, like a flower that should have been delicate losing the vase that held it.

She had cut off contact with her past, refusing to be a daughter or a wife, only Zhou Chou’s mother.

Zhou Maiyin said she didn’t regret having him.

But this wasn’t the same meaning as Tang Yue’s “no regrets.”

All Jiang Shulu could do was stay firmly by Tang Yue’s side and make him feel eternally at ease.

The edges of the copper flowers were still somewhat sharp. Jiang Shulu held the copper flowers in one hand and held Tang Yue’s hand with the other.

When getting into the car, he settled Tang Yue in steadily and properly. He was so thorough that the bullet comments screamed that he was overly considerate.

Tang Yue stole several glances at Jiang Shulu, terrified that the other party was still angry because he had lied to him.

Jiang Shulu reached out and moved his head away: “Don’t keep looking at me.”

Tang Yue: “I can’t even look?”
