Chapter 64: Look at Who is Beside You
Li Xuanyue’s brow twitched; she had a bad feeling.
Jun Mo’s next words confirmed her suspicion.
“This subject is new to the Phoenix Clan and is now in poor health. The only person I am familiar with is my Third Brother,” Jun Mo bowed and said coolly. “I request that my Third Brother and Princess Qinghe take care of me together in Qihua Hall until I recover.”
That trash likes watching my drama? Then I’ll make him die quietly in Qihua Hall.
Li Feng felt troubled by this request. She glanced at Li Xuanyue and said slowly, “Asking me about this might be asking the wrong person.”
She could arrange Li Qinghe. But Jun He was Li Xuanyue’s man. Li Feng couldn’t disregard Li Xuanyue’s feelings.
Li Xuanyue stood up slightly, bowed to Li Feng, and then turned her gaze to Jun Mo.
“Second Prince, Jun He is This Palace’s consort. You want him to take care of you? Are there no maids left in your… Qihua Hall?”
“Or are you trying to use this opportunity to insult This Palace?”
She knew Jun Mo disliked Jun He. But Jun He was her person now. Doing this was a slap in her face. How could she let that happen?
Jun Mo’s face was pale and stiff. “Princess Xuanyue misunderstands,” he explained in a low voice. “This Prince is simply homesick and has no one to talk to, so I wanted my Third Brother to keep me company in Qihua Hall.”
“If Princess Xuanyue does not permit it, then pretend I never mentioned it.”
Jun Mo spoke through gritted teeth. He hadn’t expected that piece of trash Jun He to be so lucky, having Li Xuanyue stand up for him time and again. What a seducer.
“Second Prince~”
Li Xuanyue curled her lips, looking Jun Mo up and down, finally resting her gaze on his stomach.
“As for keeping you company, I think you should ask my good sister,” she said bluntly. “After all, you are pregnant with her seed.”
“She’s likely experienced in such matters; others might not be up to the task.”
Jun Mo’s face turned hideous.
“Mm, Yue’er makes a good point.” Li Feng nodded in agreement, then looked at Jun Mo standing below.
“In the days to come, let Qinghe go to Qihua Hall to take good care of you. Consider it her atonement.”
“Now, Yue’er, you said earlier you had business with me. What is it?”
Li Feng didn’t want to dwell on this matter. Since the punishment had been meted out, the other party should know when to stop. If they continued to entangle themselves in this, she would truly get angry.
Empress Lin, knowing how to read the room, hurriedly signaled Jun Mo. “Since Princess Xuanyue has business with the Phoenix Empress, Mo’er, why are you still standing there? Come over here.”
With Empress Lin’s intervention, Jun Mo was spared the awkwardness of standing there.
“Bring him in,” Li Xuanyue ordered the guards outside, ignoring the others.
Her aura was imposing, as if she had found her father’s killer. Her face was grim and cold enough to drip water.
Li Feng’s deep eyes glinted. “You are…”
She didn’t know what Li Xuanyue was planning, but seeing the grand gesture, she knew it wasn’t a small matter.
“Mother Empress, this is the assassin who tried to kill Imperial Physician Fang a few days ago.”
At that moment, the assassin knelt fearlessly in the great hall, seemingly unconcerned for his life. It was clear he was a deathsworn soldier. If his mouth hadn’t been gagged, he would likely have bitten his tongue and committed suicide in front of Li Feng by now.
Li Feng narrowed her eyes. “You caught him?”
Li Xuanyue shook her head, concealing nothing. “It was Father Consort’s side that took action.”
She continued calmly, “Father Consort also found that this man was very close to a maid named Ruyue by Qinghe’s side.”
“Even if this matter isn’t directly related to my sister, it’s likely someone in her palace playing tricks.”
“Preposterous!” Li Feng hadn’t expected this to be linked to Chaoren Hall. She had intended to turn a blind eye, but with the evidence right in front of her, how could she ignore it?
“Someone, go to the Hall of Supreme Harmony and bring Princess Qinghe to Zhonghe Hall.”
Li Qinghe, freshly injured with a bloody back, was dragged by Li Feng’s men to Zhonghe Hall.
Her face, usually cool and noble, was now as pale as thin paper. Her lips were dry and cracked from dehydration. Her normally neat black hair was messy from the punishment, making her look wretched.
There was no trace of her usual elegant demeanor.
Ruyue, following behind, felt her heart ache at the sight but dared not make a sound. She could only bow to Li Feng alongside Li Qinghe.
“Mother Empress!”
Li Qinghe endured the pain in her back and bowed. She didn’t understand why Li Feng summoned her now, but the atmosphere told her something was wrong.
Li Qinghe’s eyes darkened, her fingers clenching white at her side. Did that slut Jun Mo say something to Li Feng? Is she looking for me to vent his anger?
Nearby, Jun Mo noticed Li Qinghe looking at him and sneered coldly. The situation is obvious. Li Xuanyue intends to make life difficult for Li Qinghe. In that case, I’ll just sit and watch.
Seeing Jun Mo’s sneer, Li Qinghe grew even angrier. That slut. I should have cut out his tongue earlier.
Just as Li Qinghe was making wild guesses, Li Feng finally spoke from above.
“Qinghe, do you recognize the person kneeling beside you?”
Li Qinghe followed Li Feng’s finger and saw the black-clad man on the ground.
What does this have to do with me? Her eyes showed confusion.
However, beside her, Ruyue’s eyelids twitched violently upon seeing the man. This was none other than one of the deathsworn soldiers she had sent to kill Imperial Physician Fang.
She hadn’t expected him to be here. She had sent people to deal with it; how was there a survivor?
Ruyue lowered her head, her heart pounding. Her spine felt chilled by the man’s presence.
