Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 11

Chapter 11: You Didn’t Tell Me Your Boyfriend Was Coming Too

The summer night breeze blew over, carrying heat.

Wen Yan repeated again: “President Pei, is there something you need to see me about?”

Pei Zhouye didn’t mind Wen Yan’s distant address changing from “Young Master Pei” to “President Pei.” He rested one hand on the car door, his cuff revealing a section of cold white wrist, still satisfied because Wen Yan had just reported to him.

“Get in, I’ll take you. We can talk on the way if there’s anything.”

Wen Yan didn’t move, a pair of black eyes staring probingly at Pei Zhouye.

Pei Zhouye suddenly laughed. He made an inviting gesture: “Tell me the address, and I will take you there properly.”

Finally, Wen Yan got into the car and gave the address of that private kitchen.

In the future, when he goes to Pei Corp for an internship with the group, he will have more contact with Pei Zhouye. Moreover, Wen Yan had already convinced himself that as an ordinary male college student with a boyfriend, there was no need to be so timid.

“Why didn’t your other two friends go?” Pei Zhouye started a topic.

“They have things to do.” Wen Yan looked strangely at the person in the driver’s seat. “President Pei, is it okay for you to drive over there? Or do you have something to see me about?”

Pei Zhouye couldn’t say that he was squatting there daily, so he lied vaguely: “It’s on the way.”

Wen Yan didn’t speak again, his lowered gaze falling on the navigation. He still couldn’t rest assured whether Pei Zhouye would follow the correct route.

Pei Zhouye always appeared suddenly by his side, and was a dissolute young master in a high position who acted as he pleased. Every time Pei Zhouye appeared, Wen Yan’s sixth sense and intuition seemed to desperately want to tell him something, like stay away, like escape.

If only he could hide, he would naturally stay far away from Pei Zhouye, but he could never hide.

Silence all the way.

This private kitchen was in an alley where cars couldn’t enter. Pei Zhouye found another place to park.

Arriving at the place, Wen Yan got out and thanked him: “Thank you, President Pei, for giving me a ride. I’ll go first.”

Pei Zhouye didn’t answer. Wen Yan didn’t wait any longer, closed the car door, turned around, and walked away.

Then he heard the sound of a car door closing and footsteps behind him.

The footsteps were getting closer. Wen Yan stopped and asked with a frown, unable to bear it anymore: “What else does President Pei want to do?”

Pei Zhouye had no guilt, and even took a few more strides with his long legs to catch up with Wen Yan: “I said it was on the way. Can’t I eat?”

Wen Yan didn’t expect Pei Zhouye to have this rogue appearance, but what Pei Zhouye said wasn’t wrong. He couldn’t control where Pei Zhouye went to eat.

The two walked this short distance in silence. Pei Zhouye seemed unable to perceive the awkward atmosphere and kept looking at him.

Wen Yan forcibly ignored it, lowered his head, and sent messages on his phone.

[I’m almost there.]

No one replied in the group. He quickened his pace.

On the other side, Wu Qingqing and Duan Mingtao received the message. Wu Qingqing was even more emotional. Duan Mingtao was pulled by her to wait in the alley of the private kitchen.

“Aren’t you going to reply to Wen Yan in the group?” Duan Mingtao didn’t understand Wu Qingqing’s excitement.

Hearing footsteps not far away, Wu Qingqing pulled Duan Mingtao behind the door, occupying a position where they could see but wouldn’t be easily discovered.

She lowered her voice: “Brother Yan said we all know his boyfriend. Let’s take a look at who it is first, so we can align our stories in advance and chat easily later.”

Duan Mingtao nodded knowingly. This layer was indeed something he hadn’t thought of.

The two sneakily hid by the door, poking their heads out to look outside.

The alley at night was dim. Warm yellow light hit the bluestone slabs, and the quiet atmosphere was inexplicably somewhat eerie.

Two figures appeared at the alley entrance.

Wu Qingqing saw the person beside Wen Yan clearly, gasped, and rubbed her eyes uncertainly: “Brother Mingtao…”

Before she finished speaking, the man standing on the left suddenly looked up.

That gaze was cold and fierce, cutting over like a knife. Wu Qingqing stiffened all over and subconsciously shrank back behind the door.

In the alley, Wen Yan sensed something was wrong and looked up, but there was nothing.

He turned his head to look at Pei Zhouye again. Pei Zhouye was staring coldly into the distance, looking like a different person from the one who refused to leave just now.

“What’s wrong?” Wen Yan suppressed the strangeness in his heart and asked.

Pei Zhouye withdrew his gaze, his expression softening a bit: “Your friends are peeking at us.”

Wen Yan frowned, not quite believing Pei Zhouye’s words: “Probably not? How can you see clearly from so far away? Maybe it’s an illusion. I also always feel someone is watching me.”

Involving his friends, Wen Yan couldn’t help but defend them a few more times.

Pei Zhouye smiled and didn’t explain.

He had been peeking at Wen Yan from the dark for a long time, so he was naturally extremely sensitive to that kind of gaze.

Both were tall with long legs, and walked to the entrance of the private kitchen in a few steps.

Wu Qingqing and Duan Mingtao stood at the door.

Wen Yan was a little surprised, “Why are you standing at the door?”

Wu Qingqing had a strange expression and laughed dryly a few times: “Isn’t it because we wanted to see Brother Yan’s boyfriend in advance hahaha. I didn’t expect Brother Yan’s boyfriend to be President Pei. No wonder you said we all know him. If we knew earlier, we wouldn’t have booked this place…”

Her voice became smaller and smaller. The embarrassment of being caught peeking and the glance that just swept over her were still in her mind.

If she had known it was Pei Zhouye, they would have at least gone to a place that looked a bit more high-end.

Wen Yan suddenly stiffened, his ears instantly turning red: “No! He is not my boyfriend! We were just on the way together. My boyfriend hasn’t arrived yet!”

Pei Zhouye’s expression changed several times. His peach blossom eyes stared gloomily at Wen Yan, his voice cold: “You didn’t tell me your boyfriend was coming too.”

Wu Qingqing’s pupils shrank sharply.

Wen Yan saw the strange expressions of Wu Qingqing and Duan Mingtao, his temples throbbing twice: “It really was on the way. My boyfriend is the senior! We agreed to meet at the place, and he hasn’t arrived yet.”

Pei Zhouye stood aside with a dark face. Compared to Wen Yan’s big reaction, he didn’t explain a word.

The already weird atmosphere became even more awkward.

Wen Yan gave up salvaging the situation: “Let’s go in and wait for him first.”

The two agreed and hurriedly entered the door, as if a ghost were chasing them from behind.

Pei Zhouye followed silently, following behind the three, entered the first-floor hall, and sat at the table next to them, opposite the seat where Wen Yan sat.

Knowing Pei Zhouye was at another table, the three awkwardly played with their phones and waited for a while longer.

The waiter came over to ask twice. Neither table ordered food. The table with only one person looked even more like a fierce god.

When the waiter came over again, Wen Yan spoke: “Let’s order first.”

Duan Mingtao: “He hasn’t arrived yet. Is there some emergency?”

Wen Yan smiled bitterly and shook his head: “It was originally our dinner, let’s order first.”

Gu Yulan was already five minutes late for the agreed time.

The message on the phone hadn’t received a reply yet.

Seeing that Wen Yan was in a bad mood, Wu Qingqing tried to explain: “Maybe there’s some emergency on the way.”
