Chapter 100: “Is Shen Zhuo Suitable for Pregnancy?”
When Shen Zhuo woke up, the car was bumping along the road.
The temperature inside the car was very low, giving him a headache.
Before fully opening his eyes, the boy moved his fingers.
But he heard the clinking of handcuffs.
Shen Zhuo’s first instinct was to use attacking pheromones.
But he was surprised to find that his gland couldn’t release pheromones no matter what.
Likewise, he couldn’t use his abilities.
He had probably been injected with some drug.
Causing his gland to be temporarily in a state of complete dormancy.
Shen Zhuo only felt weak and limp all over.
Even lifting a finger was his limit.
“As expected of an S5, waking up so early.”
An ambiguous, tender voice came from the passenger seat.
Shen Zhuo struggled to lift his eyes and saw the long-haired, refined man with gold-rimmed glasses.
The bewitching face hidden behind the lenses was no different from the day he threatened Du Xun.
“Xie Zhen…”
Shen Zhuo spat these two words out through his teeth, his speech slurred.
Xie Zhen raised his eyebrows, looking honored:
“To think you know my name, truly surprising.”
Shen Zhuo didn’t want to talk to him. He looked around the car; apart from the driver and Xie Zhen, there was no one else.
Shen Zhuo slowed his voice down, enunciating every word clearly:
“What do… you want… my gland?”
Xie Zhen lowered his eyes slightly, his gaze landing on the boy’s ankles, reddened by the shackles due to struggling:
“An S5 Omega’s gland is so precious, who would have the guts to covet it?”
Xie Zhen smiled contemptuously:
“Of course, it’s a bigger deal.”
“A deal to benefit all mankind.”
The man seemed very interested in talking to him. He turned to look at Shen Zhuo, taking out a few items.
Shen Zhuo squinted and saw clearly.
It was the antidote, hangover medicine, inhibitors, and small self-defense weapons Du Xun had prepared in his clothes.
“What a pity, there is no antidote on the market for the gland dormancy drug targeting S5 Omegas.”
Shen Zhuo stared at him, his brow twitching slightly.
No wonder he still fell for it even after injecting the antidote.
“Those experimental Omegas would probably be happy if they knew their glands were used to test a drug that could suppress an S5 Omega.”
Xie Zhen smiled, looking very happy.
His eyes curved slightly, but in the boy’s eyes, he looked like a devil.
“You kidnapped them… for experiments?”
Shen Zhuo froze, forcing himself to calm down.
His throat hurt like it was being cut by a knife.
“Them? Of course they are valuable. Even dead, their glands can be sold for money…”
Xie Zhen looked at Shen Zhuo, raising the corner of his mouth,
“If only I could test on you.”
There was an abnormal metallic silver color in the man’s eyes, looking like a demon when staring at the boy.
“Have you never thought about retribution for doing this!”
Due to the drug, Shen Zhuo could only feel pain in his gland when angry. He gritted his teeth to suppress it.
“Retribution?” Xie Zhen chuckled low. “Seems you really forgot everything.”
Xie Zhen stared into the boy’s eyes.
The silver reflection made his already bewitching face look even more eerie:
“My retribution came long ago, didn’t it?”
Xie Zhen pulled open the collar at the back of his neck.
The exposed skin made Shen Zhuo’s breath stop abruptly.
“Remember?”
Where the man’s gland should have been, there was a palm-sized, sunken scar.
There was no gland.
“!”
“It’s all because of you, Shen Zhuo.”
Shen Zhuo had no memory of it.
He didn’t remember Xie Zhen at all.
“Your father, because he wanted to take you back, ended the treatment of battlefield refugees.”
“I was next! I could have lived healthily!”
Xie Zhen suddenly acted crazy, his tone weird and manic:
“What would it matter if you waited five more minutes?”
“I lost my gland, like a monster!”
But the next second, Xie Zhen quieted down, returning to his refined and gentle state,
“Did you know, I was originally an S4 Alpha.”
Xie Zhen stroked the antidote needle with the Epiphyllum pheromones, sniffing it carefully under his nose, smiling word by word:
“But now, without a gland, I’m not even human.”
Shen Zhuo frowned. Listening to Xie Zhen’s description, he could only recall that day when he was eight years old.
The day he first met Du Xun.
Jiang Yuening was indeed called away to work.
When he came back, his face was pale, obviously from overuse of his ability.
But Jiang Yuening couldn’t possibly abandon a child with a severely damaged gland who was about to die.
The only possibility.
Is that even Jiang Yuening didn’t know the next person he needed to save was Xie Zhen.
“So you want those innocent boys and girls to lose their glands too?”
The corner of Shen Zhuo’s mouth twitched, his eyes dark and terrifying:
“Then you are truly pathetic.”
Xie Zhen raised his eyebrows.
Showing no sign of anger.
He just took out a vial of unknown pale yellow medicine from his pocket.
“Yes, I am pathetic, but you can’t deny that everyone in this world now is pathetic.”
Shen Zhuo struggled, but couldn’t move an inch.
The commotion made even the driver look back.
Shen Zhuo immediately saw the royal mark on the driver’s neck.
Xie Zhen was the Queen’s man…
But he couldn’t break free.
He could only watch helplessly as the needle in Xie Zhen’s hand pierced his thigh.
After the sting, drowsiness surged up.
Shen Zhuo’s vision darkened quickly.
The last thing he heard was Xie Zhen’s seemingly possessed murmur.
“If I don’t do this, everyone will die.”
“So you should call me, Savior.”
——
The brief wakefulness in the car was because the drug dose was too low.
When Shen Zhuo woke up again, he was in a room.
To be precise, a place like an anatomy lab.
The air was so cold it stung his bones. Shen Zhuo moved, finding his body was still weak.
His hands and feet were fixed to a hard, cold dissection table, surrounded by various scalpels and instruments.
The shadowless lamp overhead was so bright he couldn’t open his eyes.
Perhaps hearing the sound of the boy waking up, the door opened.
The person who entered appeared under the light of the shadowless lamp after a brief dimness.
Shen Zhuo saw who it was.
Suddenly, he didn’t know what to say.
He just wanted to laugh.
He couldn’t tell if it was more sadness, or more anger.
Or utter disappointment.
Life always has so many moments that make you feel it’s meaningless.
When such a smile appeared on the boy’s lips, the newcomer paused slightly.
“Does Du Xun know?”
Shen Zhuo’s throat was sticky with pain, his voice no longer holding its former kindness.
Cold as frost and sharp blades, every word could pierce the chest, turning soft internal organs into a bloody mess.
Chu Baixian held a high position as Deputy Commander-in-Chief. In the entire General Command, apart from Du Xun, he had the highest command authority.
If even Chu Baixian was an enemy…
Was there anyone left around Du Xun to trust?
Did Du Xun know?
He definitely knew.
His Alpha was so smart…
Perhaps very early on, Du Xun knew his only life-and-death friend was an undercover agent planted by the enemy.
How ridiculous.
How despairing.
“I had no choice.”
Chu Baixian’s attitude was completely different, icy cold, as if facing a stranger.
“Shen Zhuo, you should know not everyone is as lucky as you.”
Chu Baixian stood under the light of the shadowless lamp, blocking part of the glaring light from Shen Zhuo’s view.
There was no expression on that face.
“You and Du Xun, you’re both too lucky.”
“Perfect glands, perfect abilities, perfect love.”
“You possess simply too much.”
Shen Zhuo looked at him coldly, his eyelashes trembling.
The name he spoke was distant and full of perverseness, carrying a gloomy murderous aura under his pale face:
“Chu Baixian.”
“So you let Xie Zhen go.”
Chu Baixian didn’t hide it: “Of course.”
Shen Zhuo’s face grew colder: “Was Du Xun’s injury that day also your doing?”
Chu Baixian chuckled lightly: “Du Xun has been my only friend for so many years, how could I…”
His tone changed, every word seeming dipped in poison:
“How could I let everything go smoothly for him.”
Shen Zhuo’s pupils constricted and trembled, his fingertips shaking:
“How can you face Du Xun after all these years…!”
Suddenly, he took a deep breath.
Cold sweat dripped from his forehead immediately.
He was currently in a state of gland dormancy.
His physical condition was worse than a D-rank Omega.
Chu Baixian’s S4 oppressive pheromones were excruciatingly painful for him.
“Du Xun? Did he think of me when he showed off your relationship in front of me?!”
Chu Baixian suddenly became very agitated and manic, even reaching out to choke Shen Zhuo’s throat, his words fierce:
“He married his most beloved Omega, what about me! Where is my beloved Omega!”
“When he was sick, I couldn’t even use pheromones to soothe him!”
“I could only watch him dying in pain!”
Chu Baixian almost roared, hysterical:
“Just because I also became this damn Omega!”
“Du Xun is so happy in front of me every day! Did I deserve to be transformed into an Omega?!”
“I took that injury for him back then.”
Chu Baixian enunciated each word: “Du Xun owes me this.”
Shen Zhuo was choked and couldn’t fight back.
He coughed laboriously, almost unable to breathe.
His pupils began to dilate.
Blood vessels burst in Chu Baixian’s eyes, his expression hideous.
His chest heaved, and the hand choking Shen Zhuo went from shaking violently to slowly calming down, finally releasing.
“Stop struggling.”
Chu Baixian watched the boy’s futile movements, releasing the concentration of pheromones mercilessly:
“You won’t die. You just need to do some things to save everyone. You’d be willing, right?”
Shen Zhuo spoke hoarsely and slowly: “What… exactly do you want…”
He had never heard any betrayal in Chu Baixian’s heart.
Even now, Chu Baixian’s mind was just a blank.
Chu Baixian didn’t hide anything, seeming to think it didn’t matter if he told Shen Zhuo:
“Of course, it’s the reagent to turn back into an Alpha. Only Xie Zhen can give it to me.”
Perhaps Liang Yeta’s recent teaching had an effect, making Shen Zhuo blurt out immediately:
“We can cooperate… I’ll help you get the reagent…”
It was impossible for him to fight his way out in this state.
The only possibility was cooperation.
But the next second.
Shen Zhuo groaned, the pain in his gland intensifying.
Cold sweat all over his body made him look like he had been fished out of water.
Another sound came from outside the door.
The newcomer released high-concentration oppressive pheromones.
The sound of leather boots approached.
The person walked to the table, voice rasping:
“Cut the crap. The Queen sent me. Is he suitable for pregnancy now?”
Shen Zhuo’s face sank abruptly when he saw the person’s face.
The newcomer was also someone he knew.
The Empire’s Second Prince, Feng Ming.
