Chapter 38: Just Like This

Gu Huaiye dumped Xie Miaohan into the hospital and ignored him, leaving directly.

On the way, Lu Zishi, who was driving in front, couldn’t help asking.

“Young Master, is it okay to just leave him like this?”

Gu Huaiye played with the expensive watch on his wrist and said casually, “He’s an Alpha, higher level than me. What could happen? Even if something happens, he won’t be the unlucky one, but the Omega targeted by him.”

Lu Zishi looked at the rearview mirror.

If he really didn’t care, he wouldn’t grit his teeth when mentioning “Omega.”

Lu Zishi didn’t expose Gu Huaiye and jokingly said, “True, but I don’t know how attractive the pheromones of an SSS-level Alpha are. Many Omegas probably flocked to him.”

Gu Huaiye immediately gripped his watch tightly.

“Stop the car.”

As if expecting his reaction, Lu Zishi calmly parked the car on the roadside.

Two minutes later, he heard the expected answer.

“Back to the hospital.”

Lu Zishi curved his lips. “Okay, Young Master.”

Gu Huaiye rushed back to the hospital and found the situation wasn’t as serious as Lu Zishi said. Xie Miaohan was arranged in a single ward, receiving an IV drip in one hand, not awake yet.

He glared at Lu Zishi unhappily. “You arranged this, right?”

Lu Zishi scratched his head and smiled. “I have a friend working in the hospital; I asked him for help.”

“Then you still scared me.”

“No, who said a single ward is safe? If pheromones leak out, it’s still very dangerous.”

Lu Zishi paused and continued, “And the bill hasn’t been paid. This kid looks like he has no money.”

If he wasn’t mistaken, the clothes on him seemed to be a uniform, related to a bar.

A college student risking working part-time at a bar showed his financial situation was very embarrassing.

“I didn’t say I would pay for him.” Gu Huaiye looked disgusted.

How could Lu Zishi not see through Gu Huaiye’s thoughts? He just wanted an excuse.

He had worked in the Gu family for five or six years, serving as Gu Huaiye’s exclusive driver since he came in.

After getting along for so long, he knew Gu Huaiye somewhat.

His mother died early, and his father was busy with work, so he lacked love.

But afraid of being mocked for showing true feelings, he was a bit tsundere and especially liked to say things he didn’t mean.

Gu Huaiye often threw tantrums like a young master with Lu Zishi. Sometimes the servants of the Gu family would feel indignant for him and suggest he apply for a transfer to work in the company.

Gu Huaiye snorted. “I didn’t ask you to hide it.”

Although he said so, Gu Huaiye still hoped it wouldn’t reach Father Gu.

He didn’t want Xie Miaohan to be involved again.

Just this one night. After tonight, they would still be strangers.

“Go to the payment counter and pay for me first; I’ll transfer the money to you later.” Gu Huaiye ordered Lu Zishi.

“Okay.” Lu Zishi thought of something, turned around, and pointed to his own lips. “Young Master, your mouth seems to have blood on it, and it looks a bit swollen.”

After dropping this sentence, Lu Zishi walked away quickly, leaving a blushing Gu Huaiye behind.

Gu Huaiye quickly took out a handkerchief and wiped his mouth hard.

He moved the chair, sat by the bed, and stared at Xie Miaohan’s face intently.

Only a warm lamp was on in the ward, spilling over Xie Miaohan’s exquisite and handsome face. High brow bones, straight nose bridge, skin porcelain white with a cold tone. Sleeping with eyes closed made him look even more alienated and indifferent.

Almost too beautiful to belong to the mortal world.

Gu Huaiye sometimes wondered if he would still like Xie Miaohan so much without this face.

Probably not.

Speaking of which, both he and Xie Miaohan were despicable.

One looked at the face, the other at money.

No wonder the marriage turned out like that in the end.

When Xie Miaohan woke up, Gu Huaiye was dozing off with his head propped on his hand.

He immediately sat up, picked up the blanket covering him, and prepared to cover Gu Huaiye.

Xie Miaohan smiled. “Good morning.”

“I was afraid you were cold and wanted to cover you with the quilt.”

“No need.” Gu Huaiye stood up, took two steps back, distancing himself from Xie Miaohan. “Since you’re fine now, I’ll go back first.”

Xie Miaohan looked anxious and immediately blocked Gu Huaiye’s way.

“You helped me so much; let me treat you to a meal as thanks.”

“No need; it’s a small matter to me.”

Xie Miaohan pursed his somewhat pale lips, a look of guilt flashing in his eyes. “I actually don’t remember much about last night. Did I do anything to offend you?”

Gu Huaiye immediately remembered the rather intense kiss last night.

“Do you really remember nothing?”

Xie Miaohan shook his head. “I only remember chasing you out of the tavern, having an susceptibility period attack, and then my memory is blurry.”

Gu Huaiye looked at him skeptically.

This expression didn’t look like lying.

Or maybe Xie Miaohan’s acting skills had improved again, making it hard for him to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

But not remembering was good.

He didn’t want to be involved with Xie Miaohan because of a kiss.

Gu Huaiye went along with his words. “Nothing happened. I just didn’t inject the inhibitor correctly, causing you to faint, so I had to send you to the hospital.”

Xie Miaohan’s eyes became lonely. “Just like this.”

Gu Huaiye sneered. “What else did you expect?”

Xie Miaohan shook his head quickly.

“I’m leaving; don’t block me. If you annoy me, I won’t care if you’re a patient; I’ll still beat you up.”

Hearing this, Xie Miaohan immediately made way.

After Gu Huaiye left the ward, Xie Miaohan licked his lips, his eyes showing a morbid obsession.

“So sweet.”
