Chapter 10: Staring Straight at a Female
“Urgent order from the Military Department: Command the officers to lead the Eagle Division’s First Special Forces and the War Wolf Counter-Terrorist Elite to the battlefield at top speed. Upon meeting General Aslan, you must persuade him to withdraw. Do not sacrifice a body of ten thousand gold for the sake of a single city’s citizens!”
“Yes!”
In the past, Fred and Enzo would have set out immediately without hesitation.
But now, they had someone they cared about.
Ding-dong~
A message came through the optical computer.
Su Miantang opened it; it was from Fred and Enzo.
[Sorry, Tangtang, an urgent battle order has come from the front. We must leave immediately for reinforcements and can’t help you plant flowers anymore.]
Urgent battle order?
The girl’s brows knit slightly as she sat up from the sofa.
[Is it dangerous?]
Fearing she would worry, they feigned a relaxed tone.
[It’s fine, just like usual. We’ll be back as soon as the mission is complete.]
That’s good.
Su Miantang held the optical computer and sent them a voice message: “I wish you all the best. I’ll be waiting for your safe return.”
The little female’s gentle and sweet voice entered their ears, making the hearts of the two officers—standing on the cold deck of the warship—feel sweet and warm.
It felt truly good to have someone thinking of them and waiting.
With the plan to plant flowers delayed, Su Miantang closed the Encyclopedia of Gardening. She felt her body had mostly recovered during this period, so she should go out and walk around to familiarize herself with her living environment.
However, once she stepped out, she realized…
The national situation of “few females and many males” on the Central Planet was no joke.
Along the way, she almost couldn’t see any females; they were all males!
Everyone looked at her as if she were a rare species, stopping to watch her. It made even someone as social as her feel like she was developing social anxiety.
She didn’t know that on the Central Planet, it was illegal for a strange male to stare at a female so bluntly; one could be prosecuted for harassment.
And the passersby, though they knew this, still couldn’t control their gazes because they were too surprised!
Surprised that a female was willing to come out in such a large sun and such hot weather? Even if she were to go out, she should be in a luxury aircraft, followed by a group of high-grade handsome males. Why was she walking alone in such a simple and unadorned manner?
If they weren’t afraid of the strict laws, they would have rushed forward to offer their concern and assistance.
After walking about a few kilometers, she reached a park pavilion.
Su Miantang finally saw females—a whole group of them!
They were gathered in circles, three layers deep and three layers out, chattering away about something. It was very lively.
She leaned in curiously.
“Dean Lu, do you still have that Camellia hair growth essence from last time? I used a bottle and the results are good; the bald spots in my part have started growing peach fuzz!”
“Yes, yes, and the Semei body lotion. I’ve only used it for two quarters, and my whole body feels much smoother!”
“Is there anything for freckles? I really need it!”
“I heard that today’s new product is a Centella cream for scars!”
“Centella for scars? Can it really work?”
“Yeah, the scar on Amy’s face is stubborn; it’s been there for over twenty years. It won’t be easy to remove…”
It seemed they were discussing cosmetics.
Su Miantang pricked up her ears and listened intently. Suddenly, she heard a gentle and clear male voice from within the crowd: “Miss Amy, please turn your face to the side.”
As soon as that voice spoke, the females discussing around them fell silent, all holding their breath in anticipation.
The girl tilted her head and looked through a gap in the crowd.
In the center sat a handsome young man wearing a white coat and gold-rimmed, chainless glasses. His back was slender, and his face was elegant.
He was holding a cream spatula, evenly applying a paste to the face of a female whose left cheek was covered in twisted scars.
“Dean Lu, can the scars on my face really be removed?”
“Centella asiatica has antibacterial repair and collagen regeneration properties, which can alleviate scars to a certain extent. While I can’t guarantee complete removal, long-term use will have a fading effect.”
“If it can fade a bit, that’s good enough.” Amy bit her lip.
She was a Grade D female with the lowest pheromone grade, and her face had been unfortunately burned when she was young, leaving very ugly scars. She had always felt inferior because of this.
“As long as these scars aren’t so hideous and ugly, it’s fine.”
Lu Sili saw through her emotions and comforted her, “Miss Amy, there are no perfect faces in this world. Everyone has their own flaws to some degree; you don’t need to feel inferior.”
“Really?”
“Real—”
“Ah~”
Before he could finish his sentence, Su Miantang was suddenly pushed from behind by a female who had hurried over. Her whole body leaned forward, and she happened to bump into the metal spatula in the man’s hand.
Clang! A crisp sound echoed.
Lu Sili looked up and saw a stunning face of peerless beauty.
A breeze blew, gently lifting her seaweed-like dark and soft hair to reveal that palm-sized exquisite face. Her skin was whiter than frost, and her blinking eyelashes were like the wings of a newborn bird, covering a pair of amber eyes filled with stars. The bridge of her nose was smooth and upturned, and her full lips were like rose petals dappled with morning dew—tender, crimson, and tempting one to taste their fragrance.
She was so bright and moving, so soul-stirringly beautiful that she seemed to be slapping his face for what he had just said.
In this world, a perfect face truly existed. At this moment, it was right before his eyes.
Lu Sili looked dazed, unable to look away.
In an instant, he felt the whole world go quiet—so quiet that he could only hear his own heartbeat: thump-thump, thump-thump, one after another.
Until she spoke.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.”
Su Miantang bent over, picked up the metal spatula, and handed it to him.
Only then did Lu Sili realize how much he had lost his composure.
…He had actually stared straight at a strange female for over ten seconds. Under the law, that was enough for a sentence. In over twenty years, he had never been like this.
“Apologies, Miss. Please forgive my offense.”
He stood up and gave her a solemn apologetic salute.
“?” Su Miantang looked confused, not understanding how he had offended her.
But she saw something that interested her…
The badge on his chest.
A fiery red Phoenix Tail flower, surrounded by a cluster of shining stars.
She had seen it in books; that badge seemed to represent the Imperial Academy of Sciences. Was he an employee there?
The sudden commotion also caused the group of females around them to notice Su Miantang.
“Heavens, you’re so beautiful!”
“How can your skin be so fair and delicate? Not a single blemish, just like top-quality mutton-fat white jade!”
“Your hair is so long, so black, and so thick. Under the sunlight, it looks like a piece of glowing silk!”
“Your eyes are actually amber, like two shimmering gemstones. That’s so rare…”
They shifted from discussing cosmetics to discussing her. A mountain of praise crashed down all at once, leaving Su Miantang a bit at a loss.
