Xiao Xiao froze, unsure how to handle a situation like this. His face flushed, his heart pounded, and he instinctively looked around to see if anyone was watching them. He turned his head and saw that there were quite a few spectators, and in the crowd, he even spotted An Le and Lu Heng.
His face turned an even deeper shade of red. He quickly reached out to help Gu Qian up. “Okay, I… I’ll marry you,” he stammered. “Now get up, please get up.”

Xiao Xiao’s eyes grew a little misty. Gu Qian took out the ring and slid it onto his finger. Seeing the tears in his eyes, he quickly stood up and wiped them away. “Why are you crying? Are you not happy?”
Xiao Xiao shook his head. “I’m not unhappy. I’m… I’m happy.”
He smiled and threw his arms around Gu Qian, laughing and crying at the same time. “I’m so happy. I’m really, really happy.”
Just then, a wave of applause erupted from the crowd, followed by the sound of fireworks. Colorful bursts lit up the entire night sky…
Three days later.
Xiao Xiao stood in the church, dressed in a white suit. An Le stood beside him, adjusting his clothes. “Xiao Xiao, you look so handsome in a suit.”
“You look great in one, too,” Xiao Xiao replied.
An Le smiled shyly. “I’m a little envious of Gu Qian’s proposal.” He used to think Gu Qian had hurt Xiao Xiao and wouldn’t treat him well. But over the past few days, he had seen how much Gu Qian had changed. Gu Qian would even go out of his way to please him just to make Xiao Xiao happy, agreeing to any difficult request he made. An Le’s opinion of him had started to change. That was why, when Gu Qian had proposed preparing a surprise for Xiao Xiao, he had agreed to help.
“What’s there to be envious of?” Xiao Xiao said. “Is Lu Heng not good to you? I’m the one who’s envious. He wouldn’t let you suffer for a second.”
An Le nodded. “You’re right about that.” Lu Heng was very good to him. An Le was reluctant to let go. Even though his opinion of Gu Qian had changed, he was still worried. “You’d better not bully Xiao Xiao,” he said in a small voice. “If you ever bully him like you did before, my Sir and I will absolutely not let you get away with it. We’ll make you lose everything so you can never bother him again!”
Gu Qian quickly nodded. “I’ll listen to whatever Lele says. You can keep an eye on me. If I ever bully Xiao Xiao, you and Lu Heng can come settle the score with me anytime.”
An Le pouted, his nose tingling. He wiped away a tear. “Xiao Xiao, congratulations. You have to be happy.”
“I will.” Listening to An Le’s soft-hearted threat and well wishes, Xiao Xiao felt both happy and emotional. He had been the one to watch An Le get married, and he had felt just as worried as An Le did now. He understood exactly what was going through his mind. Now it was An Le’s turn, and his heart ached for him. He patted his head. “I’ll be very happy,” he said with a smile. “Thank you, Lele.”
And so, a crying An Le was led away by Lu Heng.
Then, the wedding continued.
The employees from the company not only got the wedding candy they had been hoping for, but they also got to attend the banquet. Everyone was thrilled. Not only did they get candy and a feast, but the gift money they gave today would be added to their performance bonuses at the end of the month. So, they were basically getting it all for free.
They lined up to toast the new couple, offering their best wishes, reciting every auspicious phrase they had ever known.
Gu Qian and Xiao Xiao went from table to table, toasting their guests. Xiao Xiao was dizzy from the drinks. At the last table, he saw Li Jie. He thought he wouldn’t come, but he was here.
Xiao Xiao held up his glass. “Thank you for helping me back then,” he said with a smile.
“I was just getting paid to do a job. No need to thank me,” Li Jie replied. With that, he tilted his head back and drank his glass in one go.
Gu Qian shot Li Jie a cold look but didn’t say a word, turning and walking away. Xiao Xiao smiled apologetically and followed him.
The wedding went on for a long time. Everyone was happy, but Xiao Xiao found his eyes drifting to Li Jie several times. From beginning to end, he hadn’t smiled once.
He felt a pang of guilt.
Xiao Xiao took a deep breath, looked back at Gu Qian, and stood on his toes to give him a light kiss on the corner of his mouth. “After the wedding,” he said quietly, “I don’t want to go on a honeymoon.” Gu Qian had prepared a honeymoon for them, but they had just gotten back from their trip and hadn’t been home for more than a few days. He didn’t want to go out again. It would be nice to just work for a while. Besides, they were always together; they didn’t need to go on a special trip.
“You don’t want to go out and play?” Gu Qian asked, a little disappointed.
“We can go in a little while. It’s only been a few days. I’m a bit tired.” Flying was exhausting, and being out for a long time and trying to communicate with people was tiring, too. He didn’t speak any foreign languages and always had to rely on Gu Qian. The moment Gu Qian left his side, he had no one to talk to.
“Alright, whatever you say,” Gu Qian said. A moment later, he thought of something. “Xiao Xiao,” he asked in a low voice, “do you want to learn a foreign language?”
“Hmm?”
“I’ll teach you myself.”
Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but laugh. “Okay, teach me.”
He knew what Gu Qian was offering. By teaching him a foreign language, Gu Qian was giving up the opportunity to keep him dependent on him when they were abroad. He was giving him a chance to make a wider circle of friends.
Xiao Xiao hugged Gu Qian. “You’re doing well,” he said quietly. “I hope you can keep it up.”
Gu Qian let out a low laugh, but as he did, he looked back at Li Jie. He gave a cold, mocking sneer, then wrapped his arm around Xiao Xiao and walked away.
Weddings were exhausting. When they got home that night, Xiao Xiao collapsed onto the sofa and didn’t want to move. He didn’t wash his face, didn’t take off his makeup, didn’t even change his clothes. He just lay there, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
But just as he was drifting off, he was woken up. He opened his eyes and saw Gu Qian gently wiping his face.
“Why did you fall asleep without taking off your makeup?” Gu Qian asked. “I told them not to put any on you. You’re so good-looking, just as beautiful as any omega. Why do you need makeup?”
Xiao Xiao smiled wearily. “They put a little blush on me to make me look more festive.”
Gu Qian couldn’t hold back a laugh. “You know, I think you might have a point.”
Gu Qian finished removing his makeup, put down the bottle, and started to undress him. But Xiao Xiao grabbed his hands. “I can do it myself, I can do it.” He wasn’t a child. He could take off his own clothes.
Gu Qian, robbed of the feeling of unwrapping his present, was naturally unwilling. He leaned down and kissed his soft lips. “Today is our wedding day. You’re my wedding gift. Shouldn’t I be the one to unwrap it?”
Xiao Xiao was speechless. In the end, he let go, allowing Gu Qian to undress him and carry him to the bathroom.
The wedding night was happy and lingering.
The next morning, Xiao Xiao woke up and didn’t find anyone in the room. He instinctively got up to look. He finally found Gu Qian sitting on the balcony, soaking up the sun. Seeing him, he smiled and waved. “Xiao Xiao, come here.”
Xiao Xiao walked over and sat down next to him. He looked up at the bright sun. “Why are you sitting out here in the middle of the day?” It wasn’t hot yet, but the sun was still strong enough to burn.
Gu Qian wrapped his arms around him. “It’s nice to get some sun every once in a while.” As he spoke, he reached out and gently rubbed Xiao Xiao’s stomach. “Are you hungry? I don’t feel like cooking today. I ordered food, it’s on its way. It’ll be here in a little bit.”
Xiao Xiao nodded. “If you don’t want to cook, I can. You don’t always have to be the one to do it.” He had been on his own for so many years, wandering, relying on the kindness of others, working for himself. Other than foreign languages and things he’d never seen before, he knew how to do a little bit of everything he came across. Cooking was a piece of cake. When he and An Le were together, he had done most of the cooking. He just never expected that after getting with Gu Qian, it would always be Gu Qian who cooked.
Hearing that, Gu Qian nodded. “Then you can cook tonight. Let me have a taste of your skills.”
“Mm.”
A little while later, the delivery arrived. Gu Qian brought the food in and set it on the table. There was more than enough, and it was all things Xiao Xiao liked.
“It’s just the two of us,” Xiao Xiao said. “Ordering this much is a bit of a waste.”
“I’ll finish it all.” Don’t underestimate an alpha’s appetite.
Xiao Xiao paused, then nodded. He picked up some of Gu Qian’s favorite dishes and put them on his plate.
The meal was harmonious, but what came after wasn’t so much.
Xiao Xiao had just put the bowls in the kitchen when Gu Qian wrapped his arms around him from behind.
Xiao Xiao jumped. “You almost made me drop the bowl!” he said, a little annoyed.
Gu Qian grabbed his hands from behind, put the bowls in the dishwasher one by one, then washed his hands and immediately carried him out.
Xiao Xiao was confused. “What are you doing all of a sudden?”
It wasn’t until he was pressed into the sofa that he sensed something was wrong with Gu Qian. He didn’t know much about alphas. Seeing his unusual behavior, he asked, a little dazed, “Are you… are you having an episode?”
“…What episode? My silly Xiao Xiao, I’m in my susceptibility period. Quick, release your pheromones. For the next few days, we probably won’t be able to leave the house.”
Xiao Xiao was speechless. No wonder Gu Qian had eaten so much today. He was preparing for his susceptibility period?
Seeing his stunned expression, Gu Qian smiled. “I take care of you during your heats, so from now on, I’ll have to rely on you for my susceptibility periods.”
Xiao Xiao froze for a second, then released his pheromones. “Okay,” he said with a smile. “From now on, I’ll take care of your susceptibility periods.”
