Chapter 34
Buying and selling are both crimes. Because An Le was the plaintiff, and his account was somewhat muddled, Lu Heng didn’t ask questions. He was distracted by other matters related to the An family and forgot to ask this question.
Moreover, according to An Le’s account, that alpha had likely taken a liking to him first.
Thinking of this, Lu Heng’s face instantly darkened, frightening An Le so much that he took a step back.
An Le didn’t know why Lu Heng suddenly became angry, only instinctively backing away in fear, shaking his head slightly, “I… I don’t know…”
An Qiang had never told him who he was going to be sold to, only telling him to be obedient and not resist that alpha.
Afraid of any problems, An Qiang had even given him the alpha’s pheromones to smell beforehand, to familiarize himself with them, warning him never to make a mistake in the future.
So he only remembered the alpha’s pheromones and didn’t know who the alpha was or what his name was.
Realizing he’d frightened An Le, Lu Heng quickly calmed himself, stepped forward, took An Le’s hand, and said as gently as possible, “I’m sorry, I scared you again.”
An Le, still confused, shook his head and timidly glanced at Lu Heng, whispering, “No, it’s okay…”
An Le knew that people’s emotions were fickle, just like his own. He would sometimes suddenly become unhappy, too.
And since Lu Heng was unhappy because he was worried about him, he wouldn’t blame Lu Heng.
“Xiao Heng.”
Suddenly, a steady voice came, “Why are you free to come for dinner today?”
The unfamiliar voice made An Le somewhat uneasy. He quickly lowered his head, not daring to look at who it was, much less ask.
But Lu Heng held his hand tightly, whispering comfort, “Don’t be afraid, it’s an elder from my family.”
Hearing that it was Lu Heng’s elder, An Le slowly raised his head.
Even if he didn’t see Lu Heng’s elder today, he would have to meet them at the wedding.
And if their relationship was good, they would certainly meet frequently after the wedding.
An Le looked up and saw a handsome middle-aged alpha. The alpha smiled very kindly, shook hands with Lu Heng, and then looked at An Le, smiling and asking, “Xiao Heng, this is…”
Lu Heng held An Le’s hand, his gaze gentle, softly introducing An Le to the alpha.
“Le Le, this is my uncle, Gu Chen. Call him Uncle.”
An Le obediently called, “Uncle.”
So it was his uncle.
An Le curiously looked at Gu Chen for a few moments, finding him vaguely familiar, but couldn’t remember who Gu Chen resembled.
And he didn’t dare to look too long, lowering his head after a few seconds.
Then he heard Lu Heng’s indifferent voice introducing him again to Gu Chen.
“Uncle, this is An Le, my fiancée.”
Gu Chen suddenly realized, “Oh, so you’re his fiancée. No wonder you brought him here. I heard you were getting married, but I haven’t seen you bring anyone home. I thought it was a rumor; I didn’t expect it to be true.”
“It’s true.”
Lu Heng nodded, “The wedding invitations will be sent to you in three days. Remember to come to my wedding then.”
Then he pulled An Le to continue walking inside, “Let’s not reminisce now. Let’s take my fiancée to eat first.”
An Le: …
Fiancée.
This word was as unfamiliar as it was shy for An Le; just hearing it made him blush.
Lu Heng was willing to introduce him to his family, directly telling others that he was his fiancée, not hiding the marriage because he only needed his pheromones. So, this was caring, wasn’t it?
Was this what it felt like to be cared for by an alpha?
An Le smiled, his lips pursed. When Lu Heng stopped, he realized they were already at a private room.
Lu Heng pulled him to sit down and handed him the menu, “Take your time, don’t rush.”
An Le: “Okay.”
Having had the previous dining experience, and being in a private room, An Le wasn’t as scared or nervous as the first time.
He carefully looked at the menu, chose a dish he liked, and handed the menu back to Lu Heng.
Lu Heng took it and looked, then took a pen and continued to order, saying as he did, “Gu Chen is a good person; we’ll interact frequently in the future.”
“Ah, oh, I… I know.”
Lu Heng suddenly spoke, An Le was stunned before nodding and replying, “Uncle looks… a little familiar…”
“Familiar?”
Lu Heng handed the menu to the waiter, smiling and pouring a glass of water for An Le before saying, “He’s Gu Qian’s father; Gu Qian is my cousin.”
“Oh~”
No wonder he thought he looked familiar; Gu Chen was Boss Gu’s father.
They were family!
An Le nodded blankly, “I see~”
Lu Heng: “The wedding is in a few days; afterward, you’ll have to face the whole Lu family…”
Lu Heng paused halfway, because so far, An Le only knew two members of his family.
Gu Chen and Gu Qian.
Lu Heng: “You don’t need to go to work for the next few days. Go to the hotel to familiarize yourself with the venue this afternoon. Tomorrow, I’ll prepare a family tree of the Lu family for you, along with photos and personality descriptions. Memorize it so you can handle things better then.”
An Le didn’t expect Lu Heng to be so thoughtful, even preparing a family tree for him.
He was stunned for a moment before nodding softly, “Okay.”
But as soon as An Le finished speaking, he lowered his head. Lu Heng didn’t ask any more questions because Li Jie called.
He said he wouldn’t be back in half an hour because of traffic.
An Le secretly watched the alpha making the call, not knowing what he was thinking, but his eyes showed a trace of sympathy.
When Lu Heng hung up, he saw his omega looking at him pitifully.
Lu Heng’s heart softened, and he whispered, “What’s wrong?”
An Le shook his head and softly asked, “Sir’s relationship with his family… is it… is it not good either?”
As soon as An Le finished asking, he saw Lu Heng freeze, his expression changing, looking very unhappy.
An Le quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, Sir. I… I… shouldn’t have asked…”
“There’s nothing you shouldn’t ask.”
Lu Heng’s expression was still unpleasant, his voice cold, but he didn’t blame An Le. He simply said, “You’ll find out about these things after we get married.”
Once they were married, his relationship with the Lu family would naturally be exposed to An Le, even if An Le didn’t ask.
He just didn’t expect An Le to figure it out.
He hadn’t said anything yet; he hadn’t introduced a single member of the Lu family to An Le…
Thinking of this, Lu Heng felt curious; the gloom in his eyes finally lessened. He turned and asked, “How did you know, Le Le?”
Seeing that Lu Heng wasn’t really angry, An Le’s hanging heart finally settled. He whispered, “Sir… Sir… never mentioned his parents.”
The only time was when he forced him to recount his experiences at the An family.
But after he finished, Lu Heng didn’t continue talking about having the parents meet.
He had never said he wanted to take him home to meet his parents.
He reacted like this even though they were getting married. Unless he had no family, then… then he would have a bad relationship with his family, just like him.
